Olivia did not expect to see Lucas under such circumstances. He was wearing a black shirt and his necktie was nowhere to be found. His pale skin was exposed and he was staring at her with deep eyes. There was emotion that she could not understand, or maybe she could, it was just that she could not tell, in his eyes. It was too complicated.
Olivia held back the poignant feeling in her heart and looked at him while frowning. They were not far apart from each other and Owen saw them looking at each other as an eyesore. As expected, daughters were always disappointing when they grew up. He was standing right behind Lucas, yet Olivia did not even give him a glance! He could only look towards Lance with cold eyes. “Let her go!”
Lance looked at them with delirious eyes and said, “Let her go? You’re kidding me! Lucas Foster, have you done what I asked you to do?” Lucas retrieved his eyes from Olivia and waved his hand with a cold expression. Someone immediately handed him the finished document from behind. “Here’s the equity transfer agreement.” He held the document high and Lance’s breathing grew heavier.
“Give it to me!” Lance fixed his eyes on the document and his eyes gleamed. God knows how many years had he suffered for this document! His wish was finally granted today! He could not help but extend his hand to take the document, yet Olivia suddenly pushed him away. Lance reacted and with a cruel look, he instantly grabbed her. Lucas and Owen acted at the same time too and they rushed over. They grappled with each other and amidst the chaos, Olivia was taken into Lucas’s arms.
It was the first hug she had after all these years. Detecting the strange but familiar fragrance, the rim of Olivia’s eyes went red. “Lucas?” Lucas pressed her head into his chest and spoke with a hoarse voice, “Olivia.”
“Why did you come back?” Why did she suddenly come back? Lucas knew Olivia’s feelings towards him well, and his mind was overwhelmed with questions of her returning this time. If she did that for the Cooper family, why didn’t she return few years ago? Why did she return straight after he went for a business trip abroad? He could not help but think that she did that for him. Even though the possibility was miniature, he was still greatly moved.
Olivia lowered her head and did not reply. Having involved him in trouble the first day she returned, she felt shameful to see him. Owen’s men had brought Lance down and seeing his dear sister in Lucas’s arms, Owen felt his chest tightened and uncomfortable. He walked towards them and separated them with a gloomy look, asking, “Olivia, why did you come back all of a sudden? Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Did you know how worried dad and I am? Where’s Janet? Where did you leave her?”
Olivia’s face grew pale as she was bombarded with the questions. She knew her action would make those close to her worry before she returned, yet she did not regret. Life is short, and she did not want to make herself regret. She would take that as the last chance she gave to herself, and also to Lucas. She looked at Owen, seeming regretful but was not evasive. “I just want to come back and have a look.”
“I’ve let Dr. Blake take care of Janet, I’ll go back the day after tomorrow at most, it’ll be alright.”
“Alright? You thought you’re alright? Olivia Cooper, you’re nearly choked dead by that psycho!” Owen dragged her up rudely with apprehension and his face was livid. He never thought his obedient sister would become like this and she actually returned by herself! What was going on with her now? She would lose her life with one careless move!
Olivia was speechless by his angry lecture. Lucas felt his heart ached, he walked towards her and wanted to hold her wrist but his hand was slapped away by Owen. Owen glared at him with alert. “Don’t you hurt her again!” Lucas let out a wry smile. “I never wanted to hurt her. Please give me a chance, I only want to…Olivia, can we talk for a while? Maybe just a few seconds?”
Seeing Owen who was still enraged, he could only look at Olivia who was standing next to him. The girl he had been thinking days and nights was lowering her head with a pale face, not uttering a word as she stared at the floor. Her skinny figure made his heart ached.
She shouldn’t be like that. Not knowing when, Olivia who had used to be proud and happy had become fragile and abased. Olivia looked up as he stared at her and the wound on her face was conspicuous. Her eyes were gleaming and she spoke, “Owen, please let me talk to him.”
