The Party

Book:The White Wolf's Luna Published:2024-6-4

Beatrice can’t focus her mind and attention on their guest as she remembers how Nate looked at her minutes ago. She can’t believe that Nate is present at their party today. No one informs her about this, even Quiver.
Beatrice took a deep breath and looked in Nate’s direction. And he is sitting at their assigned table now with Rayver and Eille. Beatrice felt sad as she looked at how Eille talked to Nate and made him smile. She can’t understand why she’s feeling this even though Beatrice marked on her that Quiver is the one she loves now and Quiver is the one who makes her feel special.
“Babe, are you okay? Why are you so silent?” Quiver asked as he kissed Beatrice on her cheeks.
“Nothing, I’m just nervous about something I didn’t know. Maybe this kind of event is still new to me, and I am not used to this.” Beatrice lied and smiled at Quiver.
Quiver holds her hand and smiles at her.
“Well, stop worrying about it. You must have fun today.” Quiver said and looked in her eyes.” I invited Nate.” He added so Beatrice’s heart seemed to know how to annoy her as it beat faster when she heard Nate’s name.
“You did?” Beatrice acts like she doesn’t know Nate is her.
“Yeah, he’s still my friend,” Quiver said, so Beatrice smiled at him.
“Then you must go to him and talk to him,” Beatrice said. Quiver shook his head.
“Let’s go to their table and talk to them,” Quiver said, so Beatrice frowned, and her heart beat faster than before as Quiver said those words.
“I… I can’t.” Beatrice said, so Quiver stopped for a second.
“You know what, the thing between me and his family, I can’t face him knowing that they’re all pointing me as the killer of Gastov,” Beatrice said and looked away as she saw Quiver’s serious face.
“And one more thing, you did know about the father of this child,” Beatrice said, so Quiver took a deep breath and kissed her hands.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t invited him,” Quiver said, so Beatrice looked at him and shook her head.
“It’s fine, just what you said. Nate is still your friend.” Beatrice said and smiled at him.
“I will just sit here because I can’t stand for long because my back is hurt,” Beatrice said while smiling.
“Would you like to take a rest?” Quiver asked, and Beatrice immediately shook her head in answer.
“No, no. I’m fine. I will sit here and wait for the gender reveal of our baby.” Beatrice said and sat on her chair. Quiver nodded.
“Would you like something to eat?” Quiver asked. Beatrice looked at the food beside their table and looked back to Quiver.
“I want pasta and cheese,” Beatrice said, so Quiver nodded and walked to get her food.
Beatrice was left alone at their table and looked at Nate’s table again. This time, Their gazes met, so Beatrice immediately averted her eyes.
On the other hand, Nate feels uncomfortable and uneasy as he knows that Beatrice will see her with Eille. He can’t still believe that Beatrice is the one who will marry Quiver. It hurts him so much knowing that the woman he loves the most is engaged to his best friend, Quiver.
Yes, until now, he still loves her after all that happened. He blames himself for not listening to her when she was explaining her side, but he guesses Beatrice is not the one for him as his mother doesn’t like Beatrice for him and also the happenings to his father.
“Nate, are you okay? Why do you suddenly fall silent?” Eille asked. Nate doesn’t listen to her, so Eille looks in the direction Nate is looking, and it boils her blood, knowing that Beatrice is the one he is looking for.
“He still cares for her,” Eille said in her mind and noticed that two events would happen today: the engagement party of Beatrice and Quiver and a baby gender reveal.
“Does it mean she is pregnant?” Eille asked herself and looked at Beatrice, who ate her pasta at their table peacefully.
“Is she pregnant?” Eille asked Nate. Nate was stunned and looked at Eille briefly before looking in Beatrice’s direction again.
“Why did you ask that?” Nate asked while watching Beatrice eat her pasta.
“Two celebrations are happening at this party, first their engagement party, second a baby gender reveal,” Ellie said, so Nate was suddenly stunned as he heard that.
He suddenly counted in her mind how many months she was pregnant, knowing that he and Beatrice had sex many times before the incident happened.
“Can it be my child?” Nate asked himself and was about to stand to go asked Beatrice when Quiver suddenly arrived at their table.
“Thanks for coming, men,” Quiver said, so Nate looked at him and smiled forcefully.
“Congratulations,” Nate said bitterly, so Quiver laughed and punched him jokely on his arm.
“Why did you sound like a bitter man, dude?” Quiver asked and gave him a manly hug.
“I told you you should be happy when I introduce my future wife to you,” Quiver said. Nate laughed sarcastically, knowing that he didn’t want Beatrice to marry him, especially since he had so many questions about her pregnancy.
“How are you?” Quiver asked.
“I’m fine, still breathing and feeling alive,” Nate answered, so Quiver smiled and laughed at his words.
“You sound like a bitter guy. Are you still affected by what happened to your relationship with Beatrice?” Quive asked.
“Nah, he’s not in the mood, that’s why,” Eille said, so Quiver looked at her.
“OH, look who’s here. The traitor.” Quiver annoyed her. Eille just looked at him badly and rolled her eyes.
“Are you making a scene here in your party?” Nate asked, so Quiver looked at him and laughed.
“Of course not. I’m shocked knowing you still accept the traitor wolf who betrayed your clan.” Quiver said, so Nate laughed.
“I’m also shocked that you proposed to my ex-wife,” Nate said, so Quiver laughed.
“Oh, come on, Nate, are you mad now that we’re in a relationship and will be married soon and having a baby?” Quiver asked, making Nate’s blood boil.
“We do not come here to make a fight, Mr. Quiver,” Rayver said and middled between the two alphas.
“We are here because Mr. Nate accepted your invitation.” He added.
“But it looks like Nate is not happy for me knowing that I will soon marry his ex-luna,” Quiver said, taking a deep breath to hold his anger.
“Anyways, I invited you here to witness our love and to say thank you for dumping her in your life,” Quiver said and looked at Nate seriously.
“She would never be mine if you didn’t dump her, so thank you. I promise to give her all the love she deserves and the care and treatment she wants.” Quiver said before he turned his back to Nate and walked away.
