Chapter 53 Baby Nasir

A few months later

Childbirth hurts like a bitch! How I wished someone warned me. Well, they did but I couldn’t imagine that it would be this worse.
“Push!” The midwife encouraged me but I almost slapped her face in rage. I was doing my best, why wouldn’t she see that? Will I have another child after this? Yes! But I don’t want to go through this kind of pain in my life ever again. I felt like my insides were being ripped apart.
” Please a bit more Your Majesty, I can see the head of the baby,” The woman said softly, beads of sweat forming on her forehead mirroring the one on mine. I took another breath and I pushed harder with all my strength.
After minutes of pushing and praying to Natalí for the thousandth time to ease me of this pain, and hours of Treven running around like a headless chicken while threatening to kill the midwives if anything happens to me. That man and his dramatics, Baby Nasir finally came to this world. Treven almost collapsed from joy seeing his son, he won the bet we made.
Seeing the bundle of joy in front of me made me forget every pain I felt during labor, and every humiliation I endured when I was barren. If anybody ever told me barely a year ago that I would be holding my child I would probably give them the finger. But Natalí had chosen right since I was born even though I didn’t know which affected the road to my happiness. I wouldn’t blame Annalise but I would have blamed her fully if she had kept the truth to herself longer than that.
” Nasir ” He breathed out with the softest tone I have ever heard from him as he carried a little of joy in his arms. It reminds me of the first time we met, the melodious voice that sent butterflies to my tummy. He sat beside me and I took a moment to look at the precious little joy we made together.
” Thank you so much”
” You act as if this is your first child” I smiled weakly at him. He only beamed into more smiles as he cradled the baby gently.
” This is my heir whom I could have lost because of my evil aunt,” He said and I nodded. We had thought that I had a miscarriage when we saw the blood stain on my dress on that faithful night at the temple. It was a rollercoaster of emotions but Natalí protected my baby for the sake of all of us.
” I’m the one who is the most grateful to you. You made me a mother Treven. Thank you so much” I said and he moved closer to place a kiss on my head, our eyes locked for a moment before he ripped his head lower to kiss me on the lips.
” I love you” I muttered and he nodded before covering my mouth with his again.
“Wah!” A rude but lovely voice interrupted us. We both smiled as he handed the baby back to me. I never thought I would ever breastfeed a baby in my life but here I am with my little bundle of joy.
A week later, The king threw a large party to celebrate the arrival of his heir at the spring palace. The loyal ministers were present while the ones involved in the secret organization with the late Princess were executed and their heads were hung at the marketplace of their provinces. Lord Talin was exiled to a small village after Aransas with his amputated foot. He received the punishment glad;y and apologized to his cousin many times before he left Nayak.
My father and my stepmother came from Ruqgu to celebrate with me even though they had turned their backs on me once the news reached their ears that I was Barren. The situation was awkward but Treven handled it well since my father was also part of the ruling council in Ruqgu. They brought expensive gifts for the little prince.
The king’s younger sisters and the consorts turned to gift the baby prince into a competition. They want exclusive rights as the godmother but that role already went to Annalise. The woman who helped me become a mother. She could have ignored the fact that she was the only witness to the oath of my mother to Natalí but she didn’t, she came to look for me in Ruqgu so she could provide me with the solution to my barrenness even though it was ridiculous. That ridiculous idea became a happy way for me and I am grateful for that. I tried to ask her to stop being a palace maid but she refused. She want to keep looking after my baby and me, the way she looked after Treven. She might have a thing for Eria, but I don’t know. Both of them have been weird around each other but it’s not my place to tell.

Five years later…
” So, to have Nati’s full blessings. I must find my Queen?” the five-year-old prince Nasir asked his father who handed him another little arrow. The prince loves archery a lot even though he is still too young to practice it. Apart from being the spitting image of his father, He already has the big stature of Niamh, he was five years old but he looked like he was eight already. The king had a little bow and baby arrows made for him just for practice.
” Yes, And when you finally find her, you just protect her with all your might” The King answered grabbing an arrow for himself. He placed it on the bow and shot right at the bullseye.
” Where did you find mother? So I can go there and find my Queen” Nasir said as he aimed just like his father thought him. He shot it but missed the mark by a few inches. He shrugged his shoulder as his father placed another arrow in his hand.
” I didn’t look for your mother, she came to me”
” But I need to find my Queen. That’s strange.” Nasir scoffed and King Treven sighed heavily. He wondered how the young prince knew so many words and how to answer like that.
” I searched for my Queen but I couldn’t find her. I have given up already when your mother showed up” the King explained.
” You looked for her but you couldn’t find her but she just came to you? I find it hard that you were looking for her in the first place Father.” The prince said shooting another arrow that missed again. Valtar chuckled behind them. The king gave his best friend a glare which shut him up.
” I did look for her, I just didn’t search in the right place”
” I’m not going to look for mine. She will come to me the way mother came to you” The prince said and shot the third arrow which hit the bull’s-eye. The King shrugged but a little voice made both of them turn around.
” Papa”
” It seems Nabi ran away from the nursery again” Nasir groaned as he dropped the bow. His four-year-old sister has a habit of running away from the nursery just to look for either of her parents. She looks like the little version of the Queen but has her father’s grey eyes. Even though she was a splitting image of her mother, she was a total daddy’s princess. Her elder brother only bonded with his father during their archery practices. He loves his mother more than anything. But Nabi? She has been obsessed with her father ever since she was born.
” I didn’t run away from the nursery, I came to look for Papa,” She said stretching out her arms to her father who picked her up gently.
” You shouldn’t sneak out of the nursery Nabi, you will give everyone a heart attack,” The king said with a soft voice. The little smiled sheepishly before promising not to do it again though she had done that over a hundred times already. She always knew where to pass without anyone noticing her disappearance until moments later.
” Gracious Nati! And mother is coming” Nasir said with a frown.
” And she is also furious” He added as the Queen stepped into the archery ground with a friend on her face. She was dressed in a red and golden free gown that failed to hide her baby bump.
” Nabi Marietta Niamh!” The Queen breathed out as she approached them angrily.
” Calm down Lyn, She only came to look for me” The king tried to soothe the situation but the Queen raised her right hand.
” She could have told someone. Nobody was going to stop her from seeing her father! What if something happened to her? Or she got lost?” The Queen’s anger already melted into worry and she started fighting to control her tears.
” I’m sorry Mama,” The little princess said snuggling closer to her father.
” There will be no snow rolls for you till the end of this week”
” Papa, please kiss her so she can let me have snow rolls,” Nabi said with a sorrowful expression, as her mother had just taken her only source of happiness away from her.
” that won’t work this time around. I mean it, no snow rolls for you” The Queen said.
” Mama please calm down. Think about the baby” Prince Nasir said to his mother with a smile. The Queen’s expression softened a little.
” You can’t just wander about like that Nabi, it is dangerous.” The king said to his daughter who only nodded at his words. The nursery attendants came to take both of them away for their studies.
” Are you sure a kiss won’t change your mind?” the King said immediately the children were out of the archery range.
” It already gave me two children and the third one is on his way, I doubt if there’s anything your kiss can’t do to me” She smiled as he engulfed her ever-beautiful body with his own.
