The sexual tension that was currently brimming betwixt these two people-the devil and the angel as they stared at each other-was so strong that everyone in the room could hear it crackling like a log of wood burning in a campfire.
‘Scientific studies have shown that one of the most attractive features to humans is symmetry, especially in facial features. That explains why most celebrities that are widely considered extremely attractive have nearly perfect symmetrical faces.’
Emerald could vaguely hear the echo of her psychology lecturer’s voice as her mind traveled back to the time when her teacher had decided to dwell more on psychological facts about attraction among humans.
This should explain why she was mysteriously drawn to this man seated before her. She had noticed a few waitresses and female customers secretly staring and gawking at him since he walked in and with that thought, she let herself relax.
There was no need to worry. Psychology had given her the perfect solution to the weird and inexplicable attraction she had been having towards this man, albeit she had tried to ignore it.
It had been weird because usually, she had rarely paid attention to the opposite sex or male species but that had changed the day Carol had introduced him to her as her brother.
But now, she concluded that this time, it was different because this was the first time she actually gave notice to a man and she wouldn’t deny the fact that this man was indeed sinisterly beautiful. Nothing like the men she had had encounters with.
She let her eyes glide across the room and she could see that the once carefree customers and waiters had gone ramrod stiff. Her eyebrows furrowed when she noticed that since the man had taken his seat, no one had approached their table to offer him the restaurant’s menu like they had done to her about three minutes after she had taken her seat. About five minutes had passed now and still, there were no signs of waiters or waitresses approaching them.
She looked back at the man and noticed that he was still staring at her with no intention of looking away anytime soon. Raising an eyebrow at his daring and unashamedly intent stare, she finally spoke, “Good evening, Mr Kale.”
Snapping back to reality, he blinked before giving her a curt nod, “Miss Pearce,” he acknowledged before looking down at his phone, completely droning her out.
‘Rude much?’ she mused as she let her eyes take in his neat appearance.
When he walked in, she had noticed his midnight black jeans and a pair of black Air Jordan shoes. Unconsciously, she had been staring at him in surprise that he was actually here and she had also espied how the black cotton shirt he wore clung to his muscles and chest when he pulled out a seat. The dark brown leather jacket he had topped the outfit off with had done nothing to hide his flawless physique.
For the first time since she had met him, she finally noticed that the earlobe of his left ear was adorned with a golden ring-like earring; something that hadn’t been there before or at least, she hadn’t taken notice of it earlier. He had a piercing in his ear and she had to admit that somehow, just somehow, that mere accessory made him look even tougher and more breathtaking than the first time she saw him-as crazy as it sounded.
She couldn’t help but leave her eyes to latch onto the sparkling glimmer the golden accessory on his ear seemed to give as the lighting from the ceiling of the restaurant cast its luminous essence on his face. She couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps, the piercing had hurt when he got them. Curiously, she looked to his other ear but it was void of any shimmering accessory.
Emerald didn’t know she had been staring as the man had been typing away on his phone, completely ignoring her presence until a ping came from her phone, which successfully interrupted her heated gaze as it bore into the man before her. She couldn’t be more grateful as she pulled out her phone to see a text from Logan.
‘Eme poo,’ said the text, earning an eye roll from Emerald yet a small grin spread across her face.
Jordan had been scrolling through his phone, acting as though the woman seated before him was non-existent but he was only deceiving himself. Their table was comfortably quiet, she hadn’t made a teensy sound since their awkward pleasantries yet that didn’t stop the sexual tension that surrounded them from thickening even further.
He couldn’t ignore her presence; it was torturing him, tormenting his every being-especially the little being down there. Her delicious scent was alluring. It smelled sweet yet it was agonisingly torturous as it overwhelmed his entire senses.
He admitted his curt and snippy response to her harmless greeting had been downright rude but he couldn’t help it. He felt his self control slipping as he kept watching her as her beautiful green eyes wandered around the room.
Before he had approached the reception desk, he had already caught sight of her through the glass windows of the restaurant and since then, he had been questioning Carol’s supposed ‘harmless’ dinner.
Almost immediately, he had recognised her graceful stance, her delicious and seemingly endless and straight legs running up to hold her sexy ass. Her kenspeckle figure was clearly enhanced by her fitting dress.
Unable to take his eyes off her, he had taken notice of the receptionist’s salacious glances at her. He had seen her irritation at being delayed, something he was sure the idiot of a receptionist had done deliberately to hold her up even longer.
Ultimately, the bomb in his head had been set off when he saw the receptionist taking shots of her behind; his gemstone’s behind! That had done the trick and he had been sure to teach the boy a lesson he would remember throughout his lifetime.
