CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX: THE TWIN’S SECRET

Book:Heartfelt Holiday Silvergate Series Published:2024-6-4

“Oh, wait, there he is! You guys just go. I’ll follow you in a minute,” V said to the others.
“Are you coming, Luna?” Myron asked, smiling.
“No, I’ll wait for him here. Will see you downstairs,” she said, returning the smile.
From afar, Siel could see, through the glass wall of the room’s balcony, how her mate approached M. Soon after, the clean-shaven Denar was now hugging the bearded Riegel.
There’s just so much a person can take, Siel thought as she watched Vince holding his friend’s sobbing form because there was nothing else her mate could do at the moment.
It’s amazing how a man that cold, collected, and calculated can transform. “Mates” is definitely something far above the simple love that we humans are used to feeling. His surrender, his loyalty, the way it binds them together and to each other, but even more so, within themselves. I wonder if V is really thinking of marking me. What will happen if, and when he does it? I think I’m wanting more and more of something like that… with him.
Siel wiped a few tears that ran down her cheeks. Having a mate was no short of a miracle, and as much as she wanted to help Alexia because of the bond she saw between M and her, she also yearned to have something as strong and beautiful as what the lawyer and the doctor had.
Realizing that V and M would take a while, she took out her mobile and decided to make an important call…
“Hey, Nella, just wanted to check on you. The meeting just finished. How are the babies?”
“They’re happy playing around, don’t worry. I can even stay longer, it’s pretty early. If you guys have something else planned, just go ahead and have some fun.”
“No, not today. He might want to, but I know there are too many things going on, so I’ll just let him take care of his friends and rest. He needs it, I can see it.” “Oh, ok. So, you’re coming home now?”
“Yes, I am. See you soon, and thank you.”
Nella ended the call and looked at Antoine. “I think you need to go get Siel. The meeting just ended.”
“Oh? I mean uhhh… Ohhhkaaayyy… Thank you for letting me know, Miss Wever.”
“We’ve known each other for more than a month, Antoine. Please call me Nella, OK.”
“I still can’t get used to it, Miss, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s ok, don’t apologize. Now go on, they’ll be waiting for you. Thank you for coming over and keeping us safe,” she thanked him with a sweet smile.
“It was my pleasure, Miss.”
A few minutes later, the limo driver got into the very expensive car under his care and drove off, leaving the babysitter leaning on the front door’s frame.
This guy is really attractive and interesting… but he’s sooooo slow! Will you ever get any of my hints, Antoine? Or maybe you’re just not interested? I wonder what goes on in your mind about me… Well, maybe if I use a small spell, I can get to know what you think, literally. I could even give a little push in our “relationship”!
After she had already tucked Siel’s cute Rosie and sweet James into their beds, she started bringing out a few special chosen items from her overly large backpack. After a few more minutes, she found herself stuffing those same things back into her bag.
Nah… what relationship? It wouldn’t be fair to you if I used these on you… I don’t want it like that… if it isn’t coming from you with all honesty, there is no amount of pushing that will make things go the right way…
Meanwhile, Antoine the driver, watched her from the rearview mirror as he drove away. He was silently punishing himself once again for not being able to do or say anything to Nella.
His Nella…
He still did talk to her, of course, but none of those were what he really wanted to say…
Why is it that every time we leave her, we have to go through this, Antoine?
Osmin, please… It’s hard enough already with me punishing myself for not being wolf enough… I mean… man enough… to tell her how much I like her. And how much I’m feeling the pull when I’m with her.
Well, you need to be careful, because she is probably thinking that you’re indifferent to her.
As I said, wolf, I’m good with her not knowing about this… feeling of mine…
Suit yourself. I’ll be back next time to tell you ‘I told you so’, ok, big guy? Bye for now!
AAAAARRRGHHHHH!!!! DAMN IT! Why can’t I be like the other guys and just go after my mate no matter what? Gamma, Alpha, and even Beta Aaron with his messy romantic life before, all of them have their mates now, and are fearless with their love… And here I am, afraid to tell her how I feel! WHYYYY!!!!?
As the car disappeared into the distance, a small, purple light started shining close to one of the front windows. One can hear a female whispering as her hands start to grow brighter, which can be easily seen by anyone who would be right under that particular window.
“Yes, I’m alone with the children right now,” the glowing-hands-girl said, talking to the light sphere that floated right above her hand.
It’s true Nella, she is the destined mate… They had a meeting tonight, and he introduced her to the elders of his pack.
“I honestly think that he either has no idea about the legends, or he doesn’t believe in them. Either way, things are still happening as they should.”
There were small interludes in her conversations, in which any other person could not hear or see what was inside the purple, floating energy ball. But inside her head, there were replies to everything she said.
“Of course, the ex-hubby never returned, and I’ve been taking good care of the children… yes, Elder Ariadne, I will keep watching.”
Sweet Rose and charming James, both three years old, loved the small, colorful ball that Nella played with from time to time. They giggled every time they saw it, happily hoping that she would allow them to play with it. Tonight was no exception as their beloved babysitter entered their bedroom, casting bright purple hues all over their bedroom.
“Of course, you can play, my little cuties,” crooned Nella at the two kids who were trying to touch the glowing purple ball. “After all, these are a part of your lives even way before you were born.”
She then split the ball into two smaller ones and left one glowing violet sphere over each child’s bed. Nella then set the bedroom alarm clock and smiled at her wards…
“We just have to keep your mom clueless about this for at least the end of the year. So don’t let her know, ok?”
