Chapter Twenty-Two: Special Mindlink

Book:Heartfelt Holiday Silvergate Series Published:2024-6-4

A second dream, and it’s damn weirder than the first one… but they seem so real… what if they were real… Or will be real very soon…
He immediately got to his feet and started packing.
What are you doing, Aaron?
“What I should have done when she left the club. I’m going after her.” What about your responsibilities?
“You too, Onyx? We’re talking about OUR MATE! I don’t care any longer what I have to sacrifice to get her back. She had to go through all of this on her own for so many years! I’m not letting that happen again.”
But I agree with the Alpha, Aaron. There are other ways…
“I’M NOT LOSING HER AGAIN!!! I REFUSE TO LET THAT HAPPEN, OK?”
Aaron packed a few of his belongings, mainly clothes, wrote a rushed letter to V, and then left it on his private office’s executive desk. Dressed in a thick fur-lined jacket, hiking boots, shirt, and jeans, he finally rushed out of the Packhouse, still in the middle of an intense conversation with his wolf.
Be reasonable, Aaron. Can’t you at least call your Alpha?
“No, Onyx. I. Love. Her. I can’t give anyone the chance to change my mind. I don’t care about the consequences anymore. I only care about her and having her with me for keeps.”
On top of his bed, he left his phone, and in the parking area of the house, he left his once beloved Porsche. Nothing else mattered anymore. He didn’t want to be found. This time, what mattered the most was what he was aiming to find…
Wait for me, Diwa. I’ll find you, and I’ll never going to leave you alone ever again.

Meanwhile, the Alpha and Gamma have settled in one of the rooms upstairs. It was actually a small library; and Ma’Heron had used it occasionally when he needed to figure out a way to deal with difficult cases.
It was quite apt for their meeting now…
“So, I did try to find Kaiden over the years, but during all those times he had always managed to escape me. He used his espionage skills to the max and, with the help of various rogue followers; has made it even harder to be killed in a full-out battle.”
“But why all these dramatics, Ma’Heron? We could just easily fight them when they tried to take your sister.”
“IF and WHEN they do, that is the problem. Kaiden makes sure that he only goes after her if she’s alone, like what happened after you guys went clubbing. Besides, the safety of my family will constantly be in danger, and the suspense of not knowing when he will attack…”
M paused to drink straight from the bottle of wolf wine, his favorite vintage and year, which he kept in this particular safe house. Drinking happened to be one of his favorite stress reliever, second only to “feeding” his wife.
“My parents are already old V, while my sister is too traumatized to go through any more of this. So, I’m finding ways for him to expose himself, and that has happened now because of her arrival at the packhouse and my suspension,” he stated grimly as he sat on the library’s massive mahogany desk.
“So, you let her get attacked yesterday but only managed to rescue her? What kind of plan was that?” Asked V as he chose to use a wine glass and filled it with wine from another bottle on the mini-bar.
“Aaron was supposed to be with her! If he was, he could easily mindlink the warriors to fight Kaiden, which I can’t do because I’m suspended. When the warriors arrive, that’s when I’m supposed to show up so we can finally catch the bastard! But no, The Beta decided to be a selfish emotional dick and drown himself in alcohol, while we had to risk our hides to do the very thing he’s supposed to do!”
“Dude, ease up on your bro. Having a true steady relationship is new to him, but he is clearly making an effort,” Vince advised as he sat on the nearest leather lazy boys.
“Clearly not enough, Alpha. I’m sorry, he needs to see beyond the thrill of making love to his mate, or he will lose my sister, if not to Kaiden then her possibly rejecting him as a mate. And I don’t want that to happen.”
V almost spat out his drink with what he heard. “Wait… so you DO WANT them to end up together?”
“I was already convinced that they truly were mates when Di attacked me at our exclusive club back in the city just to save Aaron from my fury. I only doubt his capacity to be a good mate, V.
It ends there.”
“I feel a ‘but’ coming up…” The Alpha said while raising an eyebrow.
Ma’Heron also raised an eyebrow before continuing. “BUT I also saw the possibility of ending
Kaiden’s crimes against my sister, present and possibly future, by letting Aaron bring her to the Packhouse. She wouldn’t have done so otherwise. I just needed the drama so you could kick me out temporarily. From there, I told my insider about everything, and the plan flowed like water UNTIL he decided to let my little sister walk away all alone!”
“So, your plan failed. What now?”
“Well, I have found out that Kaiden has decided to shift his focus on someone else before he goes after Diwa. It’s now his primary plan, and it can buy me some time to think of a better option.”
“Really? That’s surprising, considering he’s so obsessed with your sister for the longest time. So, who’s the unlucky woman?”
“Not another woman… a man. He’s planning to kill Aaron.”
“WHAT?! KILL AARON?!”
Both men were startled at the panicked female voice that interrupted their talk. Both of them shifted their gaze toward the library door, which was already open… There stood Diwa, with Siel and Alexia right behind her.
“I need to go back to the Packhouse, brother. I need to talk to my mate, and not even you can stop me!”
V sighed and looked at a surprised M with amusement, “Looks like I have to end your suspension today, Gamma. Welcome back to the pack.”
