Chapter 39 TWO SMIRKS AND SMILES

Book:Mated To A Vampire Published:2024-6-4

“Nothing much. Take her back to school.” The Vampire is now in his human form, and he instructs his men.
“Alright, boss.” They say, and start to wane. Know what I mean by wane? They disappear in air – not suddenly but slowly so that I see as they dissolve in the thin air.
“Hey, don’t leave me!” I try to bring them back but my hand only touches the space instead of an object. They smirk and disappear.
“Hey, who the h**k are you?” I face the vampire, and he smirks.
“Here, let’s go home.” He clasps his hands into mine. I jerk my hands off of his hands, and he stops immediately, imbalanced.
“Go home? Who are you, and what home you talking about?” I spoke in the native accent.
“Hey, freak! Just let’s go. It’s Ben.” He says, and his face reveals as he says.
“Ben? Oh, really?” I scoff at him, and give him my hand.
“Yes, it’s Ben. I’m glad you now know.” He smirks and I change my expression. He smiles widely in place of smirking and my façade follows suit.
“So, where the h**l are we going to?” I say, peering into his face but we keep moving.
“Uhm… Maybe to UK?” He says, and flings my hands up and down.
“UK? Is UK the home you’re talking about?” I retort.
“No, I was just kidding.” He clears his throat.
“What about those guys? Who are they, and how did they vanish just like that?”
“Uhm.. You’ve got to be watchful, I’m more powerful than they are, so they had to bow and disappear.” He replies, and we keep moving. The thuds our feet make on the ground is only the sound in this whole jungle I find myself in. Leaves rustle indeed but the sound doesn’t level up to the thuds our feet effect on the ground.
“Yes, sure. I’ll be watchful. Why did you ask them to escort me by the way?” I ask, questioningly.
“What the fxxk, you really must be a curious dude.” He chuckles, and runs his fingers through my hair.
“Don’t do that anymore. I have to find mom and others.” Previous memory flush into my mind and this present enjoyment with Ben bows and goes behind.
“Mom? Who’s mom?” He retorts, sharply.
“Mom’s not anywhere yet.”
“Mom’s not anywhere yet? You’re being mean right now. Do you even know the mum I’m talking about?”
He scoffs, and smirks. Then we reach an area separated by two regions. The two regions are dark, no single illumination.
“Where are you taking me to, Ben?” I face him. “And I’m sorry, I’ll get to you later. I’ve got to go look for mom. Bye.”
I yank off his hands of me and go behind, where we came from.
“Try to escape and let’s see.” He folds his arms, and chuckles.
“Ben, don’t tell me there’s no way of escape here. I’ve got to go look for mom!” I bark at him and he pouts his lips. I shoot disgust stares at him and he replies with suggestive looks and throws kisses at me, cupping and pouting his lips.
“What the fxxk are you doing? This is no play time, Ben.” I reply him, squinting my eyes and gasping. It’s getting more than Ben.
“Ben?” I repeat.
“Yes, it’s me.” He replies, returns to normal and takes his fingers both right and left, to his nostrils. He shuts his eyes and breathe out. Wind blows that arena, swirling up dust and making me look back and cover my nostrils. Before I look at him again when the cloud of dust has cleared, two men are already with him. It’s same Maxwell and Robert.
“Hey, you two. You back?” I wave my hands at them in hesitation.
“Yes, we are. We are escorting you to school again.” They say.
“No, don’t. I have to go look for mum.” I retort.
“Mum’s fine. We will get here safely on our way back to school, okay?” Robert replies.
“Okay, dude?” Max says.
Ben breathes out, and orders them to take me away.
“What are you doing, Ben? I don’t know these men.” I refuse to go with them.
“Sophia, please just go with them.” He replies, softly.
“I can’t! I just can’t” My hair stand on end as I watch him grow into a monster. But before he starts to shift, the men grab my hands and hurry me into the dark path of the road.
“Just get her out of here, and I’ll fight the monster called JUDE.” He stresses the word JUDE and growls uncontrollably.
These men almost make me bump into their backs as they jerk my hands forcefully and cuss as they strain their eyes to see in the darkness.
“But why can’t you just shift instead of you stupidly squinting your eyeballs?” I retort at them after Robert hits his big toe on a stump.
“We can’t shift.” Maxwell replies.
“Why?”
“Don’t ask us any more sh*t.” Robert says, and we branch a different location.
“But where exactly…” I say and Robert hits my chin with his right palm.
“I say don’t talk! Don’t ask any f**kin’ sh*t, are you n*ts?”
“I’m not n*ts.” I retort, and a lamp shine on my face from a distance. We both stand on attention, as Robert and Maxwell gaze at the two directions and scan this arena but they seem too shocked, they don’t expect this, not at least.
“Who is coming? Come on, trail ’em!” I scream at the two men but they seem stuck in where they are. Just immediately, they start to turn soft, hey not that kind of soft. They start to vanish again and this time, there’s no Ben to save me after they’re gone.
“Please don’t go.” I kneel, and raise my eyes as hot tears roll down my cheek, filling in the open gaps in my mouth. But they do not reply, they just shake their heads and finally disappear.
Now, it’s getting creepy. The light is getting dim at the front direction, and getting brighter at the other direction.
Suddenly, metals start to clank and my ears tingle at such strange sudden sound. Crap! I rise to my feet and tread down the path. This dark path. After I move two steps, say three, forward, a cold tap jerks me out of my queer attachment and I suddenly look back but I see no one.
“Oh, what the f**k.” I mutter, and plead with the torturer.
Two cold taps at my back again.
Then I look back, and the two individuals chuckle as they approach me with smiles and smirks.
