Chapter Ten: Twilight Lessons

Book:Mated To A Vampire Published:2024-6-4

As the lecturer leaves the class, Rose beckons to me to come with her and I follow her right away. He briskly walks into his office so that we are not able to catch up on time. He slams his door shut and we ring the doorbell before he enters the passkey and it opens.
“Have your seat.” He ushers both of us to two swivel chairs and I widen my smile. Weirdly, I love swivel chairs. I hold Rose by her hands and lead her to the seats but the lecturer stops her.
“Rose, your attention is not needed here.” He tells her plainly.
“Well, I have to stand here until you give me your verdict that you won’t hurt her in any way.” Rose says, and I am surprised.
“I’ll leave after you promise not to lay your hands on her.” She mentions, her hands akimbo. Her bravery excites me.
He clears his throat, “I definitely won’t.”
“Sophia, always watch out. I’d be outside, waiting for you.” Rose tells me and leaves the room as the door slams shut behind her, now locked again.
I try to put up the confidence Rose earlier demonstrated, “Why did you call me, sir?”
“No one’s here, be cool. I am Robert, the head lecturer in my district.” He introduces himself.
I silently chuckle, “district?”
“That’s not what matters, dear. You are Sophia, right?” He states and I nod my head. Ben or Maxwell must have told him about me.
“How are you doing today? Have you had breakfast?”
“No. I have not. I will, when I return to my hostel.” I retort.
“Okay…” He stutters, hitting his palm on his forehead to load more words to utter.
“May I know who your mate is?” He suddenly jerks me out of my reverie.
“Pardon?”
“Who are you mated to? Can I know?” He asks, again.
“No, you can’t.” I bluntly say.
“But …” He objects but I interrupt.
“I’m not mated to anyone yet.”
“Are you serious?” He excitedly seeks confirmation.
“Yes, I am. I’m yet to be guided on how to choose my right mate. By the way, I’m not looking for who will guide me.”
“A wolf or a vampire?”
“A wolf of course.”
“Alright, I will guide you till you sniff the scent of your right mate.”
“Thank you then.” I appreciate, and make a move to leave but he holds me back. He gently presses my palm, but I resist his lips from kissing it.
“What…?” I stammer, disappointed at what he intended to do.
“Sophia, please sit down.” He manages to say but I decide to obey.
“What pack are you from?”
“I’m not from any pack, Mr Robert!” I holler at him.
“You’ve not met with your mate yet, I know. It doesn’t stop you from being a warrior in a pack. Even if the least.” He mentions.
“My Dad is a Beta in a pack, and my Mum is a previous Omega for a different pack.” I explain.
“Oh, great!” He exclaims.
“What pack does your dad work as a Beta?”
“Ember Paw pack.” I falter.
“Good.” He responds.
“Do you know the pack?” I curiously ask.
“Yes, your Dad is Dylan, right?”
“No, he is not.” I lie. “But do you know him?”
“No, I do hear of him as a brave Beta. Karl will resign as an Alpha soon, and Dylan will be the new Alpha.” He tells me.
“Good luck to him.” I hide my emotion and say, standing up to leave.
“Sophia, still not fnished?” A voice echoes from the outside.
“Wait a moment!” I shriek, and push back the table, standing up from the swivel chair totally. “Thank you for your time, Robert.”
“Sophia, let’s meet after the school closes for the day.” He suggests.
“I’ll see to it.” I wink at him and snap my finger. He rises to his feet and enters the passkey. I run out of his office, slamming the door shut behind me. Rose bumps into me as I collide with my head on her chest.
Her eyes glow differently as she supernaturally holds me tight – maybe she thinks I am falling.
“That was scary.” I remark, and she chuckles, now that her eyes are back to normal.
“Do we have any lecture right now?” I ask.
“No, we don’t.” She says. “Before I forget to tell you, Max asked after you.”
“Max? Who is Max?” I shrug, and she playfully pinches the nape of my neck.
“Oh! The one who led me to the hostel?” We display sudden remembrance at a go.
“Yes, and the one who stopped you from walking out on Robert in class.”
I chuckle and ask her, “Is Robert your mate?”
“Mate? Not near.” She responds.
“He’s a Vampire.” She qualifies, making me glare at her.
“Vampire? Robert?”
“Yeah. I’m an hybrid, so he doesn’t trifle with me or else I will deal the hell outta him.” She says and chuckles.
“But I think he knows my history.” I evaluate.
“It is through his power as a Vampire. Don’t give him the access.”
“How can I do that?”
She leads me to the front of the Arts Department where there is shelter. She clears her throat and shakily sighs before revealing to me how to go about it.
“To restrict his access from knowing about you or your history, you have to be a vampire or a hybrid.” She explicates. “But if you are not willing to be any, a second option is – stay away from him.”
I sigh and my forehead creases.
“He even asked me to see him after the school closes today.”
“Decline that. He is able to retrieve your werewolf power, and delay the scent of your mate.” She splutters. “In the process of looking for your mate, he will come in, and claim you.”
I shake my head at this discovery, believing her words.
“Can he claim it? Just easily?” I inquire and she playfully bops me on the nose.
“Don’t talk like a dunce. He will secretly take you to his pack, and mark you as his mate.”
“Oh! I don’t want that.” I utter.
“Then stay away from him.” She evaluates.
“Stay away from him or stay away from vampires?” I ask, trying to be certain about a point.
“From him. Not all Vampires are harmful.”
“How do I know if they are harmful or harmless?” I inquire.
“Harmful ones are called Dark Vampires, and harmless ones are just normal vampires. Harmful hybrid of werewolf and vampire are Rebel Vampires.” She lectures.
“I appreciate this gesture. I’m certain you’re an harmless vampire.” I detect.
“Sure, buttercup.” She widens her smile and pulls me in for a hug.
“We will go hunting tonight. When the school closes for the day.” She suggests excitedly.
I clutch to her tightly, “Don’t disappoint this time around. I’d be glad to hunt with you.”
