Roger Scott’s sudden offer made Cornel Brown wary.
Cornel Brown stared at him carefully for half a second, then finally pressed on, “What’s the point of going to G City, and there doesn’t seem to be a reason for me and you to go along.”
“No?”
Roger Scott’s eyes flashed a shade of gloom underneath.
Cornel Brown shuddered, always feeling that he had inadvertently provoked him with that comment.
Roger Scott’s eyes grew colder as he looked at him, “Cornel Brown, this is the last chance I’m giving you, and if you still don’t know what you should do, I have nothing to say!”
“Wait!” Cornel Brown was confused and saw that he was about to leave and immediately rushed to stop him, “What do you mean by that?”
Roger Scott’s expression clouded over and he looked at him with a flash of disgust.
“Have you forgotten who is actually buried in G City?” He had a sneer on his face, “Or have you long forgotten all about it?”
Roger Scott’s questioning brought Cornel Brown to his senses.
Too late to hesitate, he squeezed his palms together and nodded.
He walked straight to his desk and dialed the intercom, “Book me a flight to G City at 3pm!”
“Yes, today only!”
“I’m putting off all work after that!”
Cornel Brown’s voice was not too loud, but loud enough for Roger Scott to hear clearly.
Roger Scott retrieved his ticket and put it back in the compartment of his suit, he looked at him, his eyes cold, “Cornel Brown, remember this for the rest of your life, even if Logan Brown has forgiven you, you still owe his mother an explanation!”
This wasn’t something he could run away from or not face!
Cornel Brown nodded, “I understand.”
He wiped his face with emotion ……
The plane left a track through the clouds, and it really wasn’t far from Sea City to G. In just a few hours the two were already standing on the land of G.
Roger Scott and Cornel Brown went to the cemetery to pay their respects after a night’s rest.
The person on the tombstone was still smiling warmly and one could not take one’s eyes off her.
Cornel Brown was in a trance, vaguely remembering the laughter of the innocent, romantic woman he had first met, when he had courted her, and then they had a natural relationship, got married and had children ……
Everything was going so well.
But in the end, maybe he was sick of the peace and quiet, so he chose to betray ……
And the woman who believed he would turn around, who believed he would look at her again, just died and disappeared from his world.
Cornel Brown knelt before the headstone, his eyes already half red, “I’m sorry ……”
He said it word for word, unable to hide the remorse under his eyes!
Roger Scott looked at him and at the woman he loved in the grave, “Cornel Brown, did you ever think of this woman while you were drowning in Jacqueline’s tenderness? Even if only for a moment ……”
And it turns out that he didn’t, he even failed her.
If he had thought about it, he wouldn’t have made one mistake after another and even ended up hurting Logan Brown ……
Cornel Brown finally couldn’t control the tears that were falling.
He clenched his teeth and kowtowed heavily, “I’m sorry …… for a thousand mistakes, it’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have ……”
Roger Scott looked away, “I know it’s useless to talk about it now, but I at least thought you could go to her grave and say it yourself, so she can rest in peace in heaven ……”
Cornel Brown wiped the mess off his face, “You’re right, I failed her and I’m ashamed.”
“Come on.”
Roger Scott got up and slapped his knee.
What should be said and what shouldn’t be said was said, let’s just pretend it’s all behind us from now on.
“Roger Scott!”
Cornel Brown looked at his somewhat forlorn back and the guilt in his heart deepened. He was obsessed with another woman, while Roger Scott kept watch over the woman he loved ……
Why was this?
Roger Scott stood still and slowly turned around, only to see Cornel Brown looking at him the same way.
“Why?”
“What?”
The sudden entrance of his question kept Roger Scott guessing what he was thinking.
Cornel Brown clenched his hand, “You had the chance to take her away, didn’t you? Why did you let her stay with me knowing that I had failed her, knowing that I had hurt her?”
Maybe if he had done something back then, that woman would still be alive and well now ……
Roger Scott suddenly laughed, not sure if it was because his words were so ridiculous or because he was so naive.
He said, “Cornel Brown, you don’t know how to love after all, so pity you for living all those years and being cheated by another woman for the rest of your life in addition to failing the one woman who treated you with sincerity!”
And to this day, he still gets nothing.
Cornel Brown grimaced a little angrily at his words, “I don’t understand, but does that have anything to do with you not taking her away?”
“So what if I did?”
“I can’t give her happiness, but you can ……”
“Take away her person and her heart won’t be in mine, instead of taking away and making both of us miserable, it would be better for her to remain with you, then there would at least be something to look forward to in her heart, and it would be enough for me to be the only one suffering.”
Roger Scott tugged at the corners of his mouth, as if he were laughing to himself.
Cornel Brown suddenly froze, only then reacting to the meaning of his words.
He looked at him for a long time.
It was a long time before he burst out laughing.
“It’s true, I really don’t know how to love.”
Serves him right for being doomed to be so pathetic for the rest of his life!
Roger Scott, even if he had never married, at least Logan Brown respected him and Elena Bush treated him like a father ……
And he had everything, but couldn’t have what he had.
He wasn’t just a failure as a husband, he was a failure as a father!
Roger Scott didn’t answer, he just walked straight out of the cemetery.
Cornel Brown stared at his back, and not much later soon heard his voice coming, “If I don’t go, I’m only going to stay more and more ……”
It wasn’t that his beloved was here, he wasn’t unmoved, he could only keep himself from thinking about it.
Cornel Brown reacted and took off after him, the barrier that had always existed between the two, even if they were still in a hostile relationship, seemed to have disappeared without a word.
Or perhaps it was George Brown’s departure that made everyone realise something.
Life is often unpredictable, instead of hating and complaining for the rest of your life, it is better to make life easier for yourself and cherish the people around you, otherwise, when the moment of separation comes, you will find that you have not had time to do anything, but just hate for the rest of your life ……
