“Logan Brown.”
Elena Bush’s heart always felt like something was wrong and immediately stopped in her tracks as she walked out of the hospital room, “What about Grandpa if we just leave like this?”
“Don’t say a word!”
The man closed the door behind him, his face a grimace.
Only then did Elena Bush notice as an afterthought that the man’s hand on one side was trembling silently, even as the force of his hold on Harvey tightened silently.
“What …… is wrong?”
Elena Bush had never seen Logan Brown like this before and suddenly panicked.
“Nothing.” He shook his head, the strength of his grip on her hand tightening a few notches, “Come on, let’s go get some raw buns for Grandpa.”
“But ……”
“Do as I say.”
Logan Brown was so firm, not giving her the slightest chance, Elena Bush blinked her eyes, a little surprised.
By the time she reacted, she was already tucked into the car.
Even as she was about to get out of the car Harvey reached out to stop her and smiled feebly at her, “Mummy, shall we listen to Daddy?”
The smile on the little one’s face made people feel even more uneasy, as if something was about to happen.
And it was clear that the father and son duo in front of her knew better than anyone else, yet none of them had any intention of telling her.
Harvey burrowed noiselessly into her arms, and before she could ask any more questions, the little one’s tears were already wetting her clothes.
Back at the hospital, George Brown’s ward stirred and Elena Bush subconsciously broke Logan Brown’s grip and trotted over to him, stepping through the crowd outside the ward, only to see that all the instruments had been removed from George Brown’s body.
There he lay, his face flushed but his lips pale and lifeless.
The raw bun her held in her hand was like irony at this point.
Elena Bush suddenly realised that George Brown was trying to distract them, and that Logan Brown and Harvey had guessed what he was thinking but hadn’t made a point of breaking it down, instead going along with it ……
“Why?”
Elena Bush covered her face and crouched silently on the floor, Logan Brown had stood over her at some point.
She looked up at the man, “Why didn’t you tell me? If I had been told, he might not be …… now”
“Time is running out, it would have been easier to let him go rather than suffer for a few more days ……”
Logan Brown’s voice was cold, like the first snow of a winter moon.
She looked at him dumbfounded, unable to speak a word for a long time.
He was right, it would be easier to die than to live and suffer.
But ……
She clenched her lower lip, tasting the same rusty taste of blood between her lips and teeth.
“I’m not ready yet, how can he just leave ……”
She still wanted to make him happy in these last few days, why ……
“Don’t cry.”
Logan Brown knelt down and held her and the baby close in his arms, a little strain in his throat.
“If Grandpa knew, he wouldn’t want you guys to be unhappy.”
“Logan ……”
Elena Bush hugged him back and cried out in pain, her heart ached for him, why should he turn around and comfort himself when he was the one who was most upset, he was the one who needed to be comforted the most wasn’t he?
Harvey heard Elena Bush’s sobs and finally broke into tears.
With the last cries coming to an end, George Brown passed away peacefully in his hospital bed ……
George Brown’s funeral was held with great pomp and circumstance, with almost all the upper class people of the sea coming, some because of George Brown and some because of Logan Brown.
But no matter what, George Brown was still dead.
On the day of the funeral, Cornel Brown left everything to the housekeeper and locked himself up in his room for two days without moving.
On the third day, the housekeeper finally panicked and Logan Brown ordered the door to be broken down, but the person inside had already passed out.
Cornel Brown became very ill and afterwards it was as if he was a different person, his father had left so he knew he couldn’t fall, he still had the Brown Group to hold on to!
George Brown came and went with a bang.
Only the dead were dead after all, and it didn’t take long for them to fade out of everyone’s lives, and all that remained to remember were a few of their closest relatives.
“Grandpa, Grandpa!”
Harvey’s cheerful voice came and Cornel Brown looked over to see a small figure suddenly rushing in through the office door.
Only then did he realise that it was his own grandson!
“Harvey?”
Cornel Brown didn’t have time to think about it, he dropped his pen and got up to pick him up.
“Daddy’s been pestering Mummy too much, so I’ve run away from home!”
As Harvey got older, Logan Brown’s jealousy grew, as if Harvey was going to steal Elena Bush when he got older.
The two of them were going back and forth, neither one letting the other go.
He had just been thrown out of the door and immediately asked Jacob to send him over.
Cornel Brown let out a sigh of relief and put the little one in his office chair, “You’re out like that, what if your mummy and daddy can’t find you?”
Besides, he hadn’t even been prepared for this.
Harvey immediately skimmed his little lips in a gambling manner, “I won’t tell them, how can I let Daddy know a bit about my importance if I don’t, besides I have to take this opportunity to teach Daddy a good lesson so that he is not allowed to be angry with me in the future!”
And don’t be mean to him when he kisses Mummy secretly!
Cornel Brown found it amusing and had to be calmed down by having his assistant buy a number of snacks to calm him down.
Only then did he turn to his mobile phone and contact Logan Brown.
Elena Bush was almost in tears, complaining to him about how he was always so serious about a child!
Logan Brown was not impressed, “Do you think your son will be taken away?”
Even if he did, he thought Harvey might not be the one to suffer in the end.
Elena Bush didn’t listen and gritted her teeth, “But he’s that big of a kid, what else can he do if he’s tied up and covered up?”
What else could he do to take down a couple of big men who were going to kidnap him?
Logan Brown took his phone out and turned on his location. He had thought of this earlier and was in no hurry.
But while he was still searching, Cornel Brown’s call came in, “I’ve got the kid, don’t worry, I’ll bring him back later after dinner.”
Logan Brown’s cold eyes narrowed slightly, “The brat has gone to you?”
