The moment Harvey saw Elena Bush, he forgot all about Kent’s kindness to him and immediately jumped into Elena Bush’s arms.
Elena Bush hugged the little one tightly, a flash of pain in his eyes, and when he looked up he met the innocent face with a light smile, “Have you been good with your uncle?”
“Of course I have!” Harvey immediately said cheerfully, “Uncle is very good and nice too, just …… no mummy ……”
He said, glancing cautiously at the man not far behind Elena Bush, and then immediately raised his guard, not daring to be reckless.
Elena Bush didn’t pay much attention to the rest, her mind was then on Kent and Blanche, “You’ve been a pain in the ass these past few days, obviously you’ve had a hard time getting together, and you didn’t get to do anything to let a kid trip you up.”
“No, no!”
Kent hadn’t even replied before Blanche was already busy waving her hands, “Besides, there’s nothing for us to do, it’s nice to have a kid to play with.”
Elena Bush nodded and smiled, “The house is yours for now, and I’ve given Mia a break until we get back.”
“Hmm.” Blanche grinned.
Kent stepped forward and took the little woman directly into his arms, his big hand then landed on her back and patted her gently, “Elena, no matter what happens, you have to remember that you have a brother.”
He would always have her back!
Elena Bush’s heart suddenly warmed, “Yes!”
She will always remember that ……
Kent didn’t want to hold Elena Bush up either, and after talking for a while he pulled Blanche away.
It wasn’t until Kent was well and truly gone that Harvey was once again pestering Elena Bush for a cuddle, the few days apart had been torture for the little one and he was now as affectionate as could be.
It was as if Logan Brown had made a point of not going up to him and pulling him away, allowing him to do as he pleased.
“Mummy ……”
Harvey gripped Elena Bush’s hand tightly, his face turning to one of glee.
Elena Bush looked along, her heart thudding, “What’s wrong?”
“Has something happened to Mummy? When I came, my uncle said this was The Browns, the place where Grandpa and Great-Grandpa lived, and he said you must be in such a hurry to get me to come and find you, so I shouldn’t ask or worry you ……”
But he still couldn’t help but be curious to know how she was doing.
Elena Bush looked paused and looked at him for a long time without answering.
Logan Brown had come up behind her at some point and before she could react had scooped the little one into his arms, “Harvey, do you think …… why Daddy wanted you?”
“I don’t know.”
The little one shook his head, his clear eyes falling on him.
“George Brown is sick.” Logan Brown didn’t hide anything and gave Elena Bush a look, then carried him as he walked towards the house, “Harvey Brown, listen to me carefully, this is not a joke or a game, George Brown doesn’t have much time left, we just want him to see you so he can have some fun too ……”
Logan Brown rarely calls Harvey by his first name and only speaks when he is angry or when something is extremely serious.
So at this point the words came out and Harvey no longer had to guess the rest of his mind had already been defined.
He hugged Kent tightly, his voice couldn’t have been so soft, “Daddy, you’re sad, aren’t you?”
“Yeah.”
He responded, not denying it.
Logan Brown had to admit that at the Browns, apart from his mother, he was the best person for him.
Even though he knew that people grew old and died, he …… never expected this day to come so soon.
Harvey suddenly stopped talking when he got the answer, and only after half a second did he lift his hand to hold Logan Brown’s face, his little face looking up at him, “Daddy, don’t be sad, and don’t be sad either Oh, Grandpa is just sick, you can take medicine and shots when you’re sick, I’ll be good, and I won’t make Grandpa mad! ”
The little one spoke so earnestly that one didn’t have to wonder about the truth of it.
Elena Bush sat wordlessly with a knowing smile, and her soft little hand was next to the top of his head, “Harvey, we all know you’re a good boy, that’s why we asked Uncle to bring you here especially.”
So, for the limited time George Brown had, let him feel happy ……
Harvey looked quizzically at Elena Bush, who only smiled in reply.
That evening, George Brown was surprised to hear that Harvey had arrived and got straight out of bed, a change from his earlier frail state.
There was an air of harmony at the dinner table and no one made any special note of it, just a quiet family meal.
But the little one’s milky words had George Brown laughing straight away.
Elena Bush took one look and averted her eyes, feeling as if everything was a sham, when a man’s hand silently gripped hers under the table.
“Dad.” Cornel Brown spoke softly.
George Brown looked away from him without a moment’s hesitation, “What?”
“Nothing, I’m just worried about your health.” Cornel Brown swept Harvey a look of some anticipation and remorse.
George Brown looked genuinely, at the moment, but pretended as if he saw nothing, “I’m in good health, don’t spend your days thinking about cursing me, with my Harvey here, there’s no such thing as illness!”
The wrinkles on his face squeezed out as he laughed, and his eyes looked at Harvey with an unmistakable kindness.
Harvey smiled cheekily and then immediately gave George Brown a piece of meat and urged, “Eat up, Great-grandfather, you’ll get better quicker if you eat more meat!”
“Eh!”
George Brown replied repeatedly, and the look of joy on his face deepened.
Cornel Brown’s body suddenly tensed up, looking at everything in front of him and feeling as if it had once been right in front of him, but his negligence had made it all go away ……
The thought of this, the heart can not control the hidden pain.
“Harvey, let’s go for a walk with Grandpa after we finish eating. Grandpa has been lying in bed all this time and his old body is falling apart!”
Harvey nodded repeatedly, “Harvey will do anything Grandpa wants!”
“Good boy.” George Brown lifted his hand and rubbed the top of his head, the softness in his eyes intensifying.
Cornel Brown could not help but avert his eyes, but his heart kept sinking.
As far as he can remember, Harvey never seemed to call him grandpa ……
