Chapter 688 His Mother

Book:Mr. Brown's Sweet Wife Published:2024-5-28

“Sir Lewis, so early, is there something wrong?”
“Back home tomorrow, thought I’d take you somewhere.”
“From work?”
Blanche listened as she got up and cleared her plate.
On the other side, Kent hung up the phone straight away without answering, causing her to look puzzled.
Pushing open the door to the room, the man was waiting outside the door at some point, startling her.
“Sir Lewis, when did you get here?”
“Just got here, you opened the door before I had a chance to knock.”
Blanche nodded, which made sense, just a little puzzled, “Well don’t we need to call Melissa or one of the other colleagues to come along too?”
“What’s the point of calling them, it’s you I’m looking for.” Kent said without a smile.
Blanche then understood and with a slightly apologetic smile said, “Well , then, let’s go.”
Blanche had thought it was about work, but she hadn’t expected that Kent was taking her to go sightseeing.
After walking along for most of the day, Blanche finally relented and spoke up, “Mister Lewis, aren’t we here to talk business?”
“Did I say that?” The man asked rhetorically, glancing at her.
Blanche thought carefully for a moment, then meekly shook her head, “No.”
But he hadn’t denied it either, so that’s why she thought ……
Kent was full of innocence and said with a bitter face, “Blanche, one should know how to have fun in time, it’s not easy to come out and have fun for once, you are thinking about what to do at work all the time, take it easy, what to do, I will naturally inform you in advance.”
“……”
Blanche could not retort, resentfully lowered her head.
Kent went to the place where the Buddhist temple was visited, the path up the hill was high and steep, halfway up she could barely eat and sat down on her butt directly on the ground with a big gasp of air.
“Tired?”
Kent stopped walking to look at her.
Blanche wanted to cry, “I wouldn’t have worn this outfit if you’d told me I was here to climb.”
She had thought it was work and had dressed herself in a smart outfit, even wearing high heels, and although they were only eight centimetres, her legs were shaking from the series of stairs she had come up.
Kent laughed lowly and joked, “You’re just exercising less and your stamina can’t keep up.”
“I’ve been out running around all day after you, and this is still bad?” She opened her mouth to complain.
Kent raised an eyebrow, “So, you’re taking credit for this with me?”
Blanche couldn’t guess if he was angry or joking, and didn’t dare admit it, so she shook her head, “No, it’s just that I retorted because Mr Lewis doubted my strength.”
Plus, she’d been working out consistently.
Kent sighed and squatted down in front of her.
Blanche hesitated, clearly not responding, “What do you want to do?”
“Not tired?” He turned his head to look at her, “I’ll just carry you if you can’t walk.”
“No! No!”
Blanche jumped in fright immediately, the usual contact was going to make her heart skip a beat, if she lay on his back she thought, her heart would definitely give it away.
She also …… dared not let him know.
Her squirming look fell into Kent’s eyes a little angry, “Come up when I tell you to, don’t delay.”
Blanche continued to shake her head obstinately, nervousness and unease written all over her little face.
He quickly squeezed out a smile even under his gaze and said slowly, “It’s okay, I’ve had a break and suddenly I don’t feel so tired anymore, so I’d better get going.”
Kent stood up straight with a suspicious look on his face, “It’s really okay?”
“Really! A thousand percent, so sir Lewis don’t worry.”
The man nodded, then suddenly remembered something once again and turned around, scaring Blanche into standing up straight immediately, “Chan, is there anything else Mr Lewis?”
“I’ve told you many times, just call me by my first name in private, no need to address me directly as Mr. Lewis.”
No sooner had he heard the rusty title than he felt inexplicably angry.
Blanche just had to nod meekly and say, “Okay, I’ll be careful next time.”
“Hmm.” He responded, before striding onward.
Blanche followed closely behind, not knowing exactly how long she had been walking, and it was only when she almost felt like her legs were going to give out that she finally saw the stately temple.
Kent paused for a moment, as if he was waiting for her on purpose.
It was not until she had come to her side that the man took her hand unhurriedly and said, “Let’s go.”
Hand-washing, worship, prayer ……
Kent seemed to be extraordinarily skilled, and she couldn’t help but steal a glance at him. The man’s angles were beautiful, not feminine and feminine, but a unique male beauty in general, making her ashamed of herself in front of him.
His mother must have been beautiful, she thought ……
“What are you looking at me for?”
Kent suddenly opened his eyes to look at her.
Blanche was caught off guard and shook her head off to raise her spirits, “No, I was just suddenly curious about how good looking you are, maybe it’s because of your mother.”
I didn’t mean anything by it, and I didn’t mean to blaspheme you or your mother, I just thought …… it.”
“I didn’t take it to heart either.” The man shook his head, his gaze cool and flat, “Blanche, you’re actually right, I’m like my mother.”
He was also glad that he had followed his mother’s looks.
Blanche looked at him puzzled, feeling that something was wrong.
But Kent quickly brushed the subject aside, not meaning to talk about it any further.
She could see the slight displeasure in that, and had to keep her mouth shut.
The way up was difficult, but the way down was much easier, and within twenty minutes they were at the foot of the mountain.
Blanche bent over and pounded her knees and suggested in a whisper, “Let’s find a place to eat nearby.”
She’d had a cup of coffee, a loaf of bread and a sandwich this morning, and the long walk up the mountain had almost worn out that energy.
“Hmm.”
Kent looked around and pointed to a kebab shop not far away, “That’s the one.”
At that, Blanche didn’t dare to hesitate and took a big step inside.
With the smell of barbecue spreading through the room and the ice water served by the clerk sitting on a chair, for a moment Blanche almost felt that this was heaven on earth!
Kent looked at her with a reassuring look on the table and the corners of his lips rose a little ……
He took the menu and quickly ordered while Blanche waited for the roast meat to be served.
