Cindy’s POV
“What’s wrong with you?” The b***h asked as the ba****d was helping her get up. He looked at me, and I said, “I’m asking you what was wrong with you?” Lin asked after she got back to her feet.
“There’s nothing wrong with me, and I don’t know about you,” I replied,
“Come on, love, I’m starving,” Alder said, and I wanted to roll my eyes at him. I had already told him not to call me that, but he was not listening. But I decided just to let him be. It was only a waste of time arguing with him when I already knew he would not listen to me. I started walking but stopped by those two leeches again.
“Is that it? You’re not going to apologize?” Lin asked angrily, and I wanted to laugh at her. She never let me see that side of her. Gosh, is she always like this? How come I never had any idea about her being like this?
“Why would I? Who are you?” I asked arrogantly.
“You can take your seat, and I will settle things here.” Charles said, “People are looking, and it will be embarrassing to let them see us acting like uncivilized persons.” He added.
“That b***h has to apologize!” Lin said, yelling, and everyone was looking at us already.
“You’re not the one who was not looking your way, so it was your fault,” Alder said impatiently. Now, if you’ll excuse us,” he said before putting his hand on my waist and leading me to our table.
“How dare you–” I heard Lin was still saying something, but I’m sure Charles took care of them already. I was enraged. Just by looking at them, I could feel my blood boiling. How can I be so unlucky seeing them here? Then I remembered Lin was working in Alder’s hospital. I looked at him smiling, and he creased his forehead when he saw me. He must have wondered why I was smiling at him like I had won the lottery.
We headed to our table and let Alder order our food. I looked around, not because I was new to the place, but because I was looking for someone. I had a friend working here as a waitress who was severely beaten up by her boyfriend the last time I saw her. I tried my best to put that b*****d behind bars and was thankful he would stay there for a few years.
“Who are you looking for?” I looked at Alder as I shook my head and said,
“Nothing,”
“Nothing, but you kept on roaming your eyes around,” he said, so I looked at him,
“What’s wrong with you? Do I need to tell you everything?” I snarled at him. I hate it when he acts so possessive. It’s not because I’m not too fond of it but because I feel it was too much. Is this how they usually do with their mates? But the way I see Mom and Dad, they are unlike him. Dad would always say yes to Mom, and it looked sweet. But with Alder, I don’t know.
“I was just asking,” he replied,
“You don’t need to ask, and I will say everything to you if I want to.”
“Then, you didn’t want to tell me?”
“Isn’t it obvious? Do you think that I am going to believe everything that you tell me as well?”
“I know what you have been through a lot, so I will try to understand your actions and disrespect. But let me tell you that my patience is not as long as yours,” he replied,
“Are you threatening me?” I asked, raising a brow, and he sighed.
“I was just telling you that I cannot promise that I will be able to hold and control my lycan for a long time. So, as much as possible, let’s try to reduce our arguments,” he said in a low voice, trying to control his anger. I was about to say something, but his ordered food had arrived, so I shut my mouth. It was not the time and place for our quarrel, and I was afraid that people might hear us and start thinking we were getting crazy.
“You grew up being spoiled by your father, and I understand that. But let me remind you that I am not your father. There are things that I can let slide, but there are many things that I can’t, especially when my beast doesn’t like it as well.” he said as he cut his steak into pieces; after he was done, he took mine and gave me his. He’s a gentleman, and I give him that. But as far as I know, mates do that, so there was nothing special about it, right?
“Excuse me, Sir.” I heard a familiar voice and looked at where it came from. My lips curved into a smile when I saw her. She looks beautiful and has gained a little weight. But what is Charles doing? Does he know her?
“Do you know her?” Alder asked, and I nodded.
“Why is Charles acting like that?” I asked, “He might scare her; she had been through something before, and I think she was just starting to recover.” I added.
“Fu**!” I heard him say that, so I looked at him, confused. His eyes were on Charles, and judging by the look in his eyes, he was talking to his gamma right now. My eyes widened when I realized something, so I looked at Mia worriedly.
“Don’t tell me she’s his???” I asked him with wide eyes. Everything seemed to fall apart when he nodded. But even if he looked worried, I could see he was also happy. Mia is a human, and I already see Charles having difficulty wooing her.
“Hey!” I called Mia, waving my hand at her. She looked at me with relief and might have thought she finally had a reason to stay away from him.
“Yes, ma’am. Is there anything you need?” Mia asked after she came to our table and looked over her shoulder, trying to see whether Charles followed her.
“Sit here,” I said,
“I’m working, and my manager will surely–” I knew what she was going to say, so I called a waiter who was passing by.
“Call your manager,” I told him, and he did with curiosity. Alder and so, as Charles was now sitting on the table next to us and looked at me curiously.
“I am Larry Fernandez, the manager. How may I be of your service, ma’am, Sir?”
“Let her sit with us,” I said. He must have been thinking why it always happens to Mia. Yes, I already did this before. When I was still Cindy, that is how Mia and I met. I needed someone to talk to, and I chose her randomly.
“If that’s what you wanted,” the manager said,
“Thank you so much,” I replied, smiling, and then he left us. I invited her to eat, and I didn’t need to ask how she was because I could have already seen it. Her face had colors, and she looked happy.
We talked a lot, and Alder and Charles were listening to us. I indirectly let him know his mate a little more. I started to wonder how he would tell her that she was his. Hmm…
