“Finally awake? I told you you weren’t going to die.”
Jeff’s flirtatious voice rang out, causing him to immediately withdraw his mind and look over at him, whispering, “What are you doing here?”
“How much that hurts me to hear, am I that unpopular with you?” Jeff pulled off his mask and said, “I was going to go with Mr Scott, except that just as we got in the car your son was crying and we were stopped by the police who almost thought I was abducting a child, I just had no choice but to send him back.”
“That’s a good point, weren’t you worried about Logan Brown yourself?” Zach Stone’s teasing voice dropped with a snide look.
Jeff cleared his throat, “I’m just more concerned about my master’s hard to heal leg, it can’t just go to waste.”
He said, deliberately slapping Logan Brown’s thigh with a sneer, “Count your blessings, the gods of fate are on your side after all.”
The man laughed lowly and met his gaze, “Can i make a full recovery?”
“Dream on!” Jeff glared at him, “It’s impossible for you to risk that much and still be safe, you’ll have to be treated for at least the rest of your life, and, even if you can walk freely, you’re still traumatised, so maybe ……”
“Maybe what?” Zach Stone was the first to press the issue.
“Well, yes, it’ll be fine, but I’ll just have to use crutches to support it from now on, and I won’t be able to walk too much, and I’ll have to pay more attention to my legs during the rainy period.”
“Hmmm.”
“Hm?” Jeff looked over, but saw a light smile on the man’s face, and was instantly displeased, “How can you be so calm at this time of year?”
“At least I can still stand up, can’t I?” Logan Brown opened his eyes, his eyes were thankful, “I had planned for the worst, and I’m not surprised at this outcome now.”
It was the best possible outcome than going to be unable to stand and protect the woman he loved behind him, and he should be satisfied.
Jeff looked at him and couldn’t help but shake his head, “Sometimes I just don’t get your out of the ordinary thinking!”
Zach Stone hemmed and hawed and patted his shoulder, “Come on, it’s okay, it’s okay.”
Logan Brown squeezed his palms and suddenly got serious, “Where’s Elena?”
“They all came to G City last night while you were still in surgery, and the direction they left, and the surveillance on the highway has confirmed that it was indeed H City they went to.”
H City ……
Zach Stone couldn’t help but mutter, “They just got here from H City, why are they just leaving?”
“Yolanda.”
“What?”
“One for themselves and one …… for Yolanda, where do you think they can go?” The man’s voice was extraordinarily calm, not at all like someone who had just come to his senses after surgery.
Zach Stone tsked out, “Sometimes I really find you’re pretty quick on the uptake, but when it comes to Elena Bush it’s like you’re in a knot, you can’t even walk!”
Would a normal person be so decisive as to punch two bloody holes right through their legs? Would a normal person take that kind of gamble?
It’s impossible to think about it!
Logan Brown gave him a nonchalant sweeping look and said, “If Sophia Mckinley was in a situation like this and you were asked to do the same thing, what would you do?”
“……”
Zach Stone was suddenly silent.
Ask yourself, if he were in his shoes, if something happened to Sophia Mckinley, he wouldn’t be able to think, he would just be thinking that she was safe.
The man propped himself up and got up, but Jeff immediately squeezed his shoulder and made him lie back down.
Logan Brown’s head ached and he rubbed his brow, worried now that Elena Bush would think too much.
Jeff patted him on the shoulder, “Don’t think about it so much for now, get some rest while I get Jacob to arrange a ride back to H City.”
“Yeah.”
Nodding slightly, after lying down again, he seemed to think of something and opened his eyes again, “Where’s the baby?”
“Asleep, at the hotel now.”
“I’ll go back to the hotel first, or I’ll check on him.” Logan Brown said in a hushed voice.
Zach Stone immediately jumped up and said no, “What do you want to do, you just got out of surgery, you really don’t want your legs?”
“……”
The man pursed his thin lips and said nothing.
Zach Stone couldn’t do anything about it, so he said, “Jacob said he was coming over, I’ll ask him to bring the baby along, besides, you’re not sure you’ll be rested if you go back to H City later, you have to toss and turn.”
Logan Brown hooked his lips and simply said, “Please.”
One word that completely compromised him.
Logan Brown had never bothered him so solemnly about anything in his life, and this was the first time, and maybe the only time, that he could do anything else.
He turned to make a phone call, then remembered something and turned again, “By the way, there’s one more thing. Your father’s been out there since you went into surgery until now, when you were transferred to the ward, and we don’t know what to do.”
“Let’s get him back to H City.”
“Us together?”
“As you wish.” The man returned coldly.
Zach Stone gave him a look, always feeling that something should be going on in there, and couldn’t say much, just shook his head helplessly, “Never mind, I don’t know what’s on your mind, except that I’ve known you for years and I know you must have a reason.”
“Hmm.” He said, closing his eyes again, Eeyore’s reluctance to continue talking about it any further making him stop asking questions.
Exchanging a look with Jeff, the two men both left.
Zach Stone and Jeff had only just stepped out of the ward when Cornel Brown immediately raised his head and cast an urgent look.
Jeff sighed helplessly and stepped forward to whisper, “Uncle, you’d better go back to H City, he’s fine.”
“He ……” Cornel Brown twitched his mouth, “is he unwilling to forgive me?”
“Cornel Brown,” Zach Stone called him by his first name, his face serious.
Jeff might have been gentle with him, but not Zach Stone, “I used to know more or less about you and Logan Brown, but he was just disappointed in you for so many years, never desperate, and now …… he won’t even look at you , don’t you know something in your heart?”
Cornel Brown hung his head, not saying a word.
Zach Stone gritted his teeth, “I don’t know what the hell is going on this time, but I know better than anyone what kind of person Logan Brown really is, so if he is truly losing hope and trust in you when he does, I also know that he will never forgive you in his life!”
The last words slammed into his chest like a heavy hammer blow, almost making him unable to breathe ……
