Zach Stone couldn’t help but think of Logan Brown shaking his hand gratefully and saying something about thank you, and as soon as that image came to mind goose bumps rose up all over his body and a chill ran through his heart.
Then he patted his chest and was glad that Logan Brown was still the same Logan Brown he knew.
Jacob didn’t notice anything wrong with him and nodded, “Well, sir, he’s always been cold-hearted, so it’s good to get used to it.”
“I got used to it a long time ago.” Zach Stone said playfully, “If I wasn’t used to it, then I’d have to eat dynamite every day.”
Jacob was used to the casual banter and just laughed in return.
Zach Stone suddenly got into the spirit of things and immediately gossiped, “Jacob, after all these years, have you never thought about finding a woman? Or have you always been this quiet?”
It can’t be.. ……
But he thought carefully, but could not remember when Jacob had ever had a need, so he could not help but look at him slyly and suspiciously, “You are not …… Sexual frigidity, are you?”

Logan Brown went back to the hotel for a nap and woke up again the next day, holding his head with a slight headache he slowly opened his eyes for a long moment before he got over it.

Jacob’s muffled voice rang out from the side, Logan Brown looked over and smoothly took the tea he was holding and drank it in one gulp, “Nothing happened last night, did it?”
“Not yet, everything’s fine.”
“Hmm.”
He responded, then slowly got up, “What about the hospital?”
“Nothing much at the hospital either, and Edward Ford’s mind was now too much on that newly acquired land to worry about anything else, just the occasional nightly visit to see Madame, and then when she’s asleep, he leaves.”
“When did he ever get so peaceful?” Logan Brown wondered, if it was any other day he wouldn’t have had to be so careful.
Jacob also just shook his head, “I don’t know, I guess it might have been the difficult birth of her ladyship earlier that made him understand something, I heard Mr Scott mention it when he was drinking with him, he seemed to be reflecting on it too ……”

Logan Brown frowned, unable to imagine that answer, and for a moment was lost in thought.
It was only after a long time that he reacted and said, “Let’s put this aside, even so, we can’t let up for a while.”
“I understand, so for the time being, I’ll have someone keep an eye on Edward Ford, so that if there’s any movement there, we’ll know about it.”
“Has Edward Ford contacted you again yet?”
“Yes.” Jacob remembered, then continued, “Only the offer was too low, so I just ignored it. But, I should be contacted today to get back to me..”
Logan Brown hooked his lips in satisfaction, “Well, he’ll naturally get in touch, it’s just that if you want to get paid more, you’ll have to come up with more relative leverage to do so.”
Jacob looked at him seriously, “And what does that mean, sir?”
“It’s important to let him do what he wants, to ignore it, and to let him think that KL can’t fight back.”

Jacob couldn’t refuse Logan Brown’s ambition, so he agreed, “I’ll arrange a meeting with Edward Ford as soon as possible and get this sorted out so that he, and we, can all rest easy.”

Logan Brown got up and loosened up, “Get out of here, and don’t forget to have Zach Stone follow up on Mason Bush. Other than that, he shouldn’t worry about anything else for now and doesn’t need to get involved to save himself any distractions.”
“Yes.” Jacob replied in a hushed voice, and then only then did he exit the room.
Logan Brown stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window looking out at the light downstairs for who knows how long, before he withdrew his mind slightly and flipped out his phone to dial a familiar number.
“Logan,” said Roger Scott, who was on his way to the hospital when he received the call and pulled over immediately.
Logan Brown smiled, “Uncle Roger is getting ready to go to the hospital now?”
“Yeah.” Roger Scott listened to his words and then spoke speculatively, “Are you calling me because you want to see the baby or because you want to see Elena?”
“No, neither.” The man shook his head, a light smile always on the corner of his lips.
Roger Scott clearly froze for a moment, not expecting that answer.
Thoughts turned in his head for a long time, and he couldn’t figure out what he was trying to do.
Logan Brown didn’t hesitate for a moment, and then, in the midst of his confusion, he said, “Uncle Roger, there’s something I’d like to ask you ……”
