Elijah was taken aback.
Gently patting her back, he said, “You’re drunk, don’t speak nonsense. Come on, let me take you home.”
“No,” Freya held onto his waist tightly, burying her face in his chest. “You wouldn’t understand.”
Elijah lowered his head and asked, “Understand what?”
“I can’t tell you,” her voice was muffled, with a hint of hoarseness.
Elijah turned to Eagle and said, “You go inside first!”
Eagle nodded, turning back to the house.
“I feel unwell,” Freya held onto him even tighter.
Elijah asked softly, “Are you feeling nauseous?”
Shaking her head in his arms, Freya replied, “It’s my heart that feels unwell.”
Sensing her unease, Elijah asked in a low voice, “Why does your heart feel unwell?”
Suddenly, Freya looked up at him, her eyes piercing.
“Ugh…”
A wave of nausea hit her stomach.
Before Elijah could take her out, she vomited all over him.
The smell…
Elijah sighed and rubbed his temple. He should have taken her inside earlier, then he wouldn’t have ended up like this!
Taking off his coat and wiping himself down, he tossed it aside and carried Freya indoors.
He called the driver to clean the car, saying, “Also, throw away this piece of clothing.”
The sour alcoholic vomit mixed with the smell made his heart feel heavy.
Back inside, Freya still felt like vomiting.
“Ugh…”
Elijah carried her to the bathroom.
Elowen, holding Morton, noticed that Freya was brought in, smelling of alcohol, and furrowed her brows. “She’s been drinking?”
Elijah affirmed with a grunt.
Elowen said, “This child, what’s wrong with her? She never drinks, how did she end up like this after a drink?”
Elijah explained, “She had a gathering in her courtyard today, everyone was drinking, and she didn’t want to be the only one not drinking.”
“I’ll prepare some hot water for her, let her wash down there!” Elowen offered to help.
Elijah said he would prepare the water and asked her to take Morton out. “She might vomit.”
Elowen nodded, “Then you take care of her, Morton needs to sleep. I’ll put him down for a nap.”
Elijah agreed.
As the bathroom door closed, Freya knelt by the toilet and vomited again, her stomach now empty.
Elijah filled the bathtub with hot water, and steam slowly filled the bathroom.
“Feeling better?” Elijah asked her.
Sitting on the floor, Freya’s clothes were disheveled, stained with vomit.
The taste of alcohol was truly unbearable.
She squinted her eyes.
“Not… comfortable…”
Elijah helped her out of her clothes, saying, “Do you only realize now that it’s uncomfortable? Will you still drink in the future?”
With a silly smile, Freya replied, “No more, it’s too uncomfortable.”
As she undressed, her fair skin appeared before Elijah.
Reaching out, she touched his collar with her slender fingers…
Elijah said, “Stop it.” Taking her hand away, he lifted her and gently placed her in the bathtub, causing the water to rise.
Removing his wet clothes, Elijah said, “Otherwise, the clothes sticking to my body would be uncomfortable.”
Uncooperative, Freya said, “I don’t want to wash, I want to sleep.”
Trying to climb out, she slipped and fell back into the tub, soaking her hair.
Elijah sighed. Lifting his leg into the tub, he held her down. “Stop messing around. I’ll wash you, and you’ll feel better soon.”
Playfully, Freya said, “Don’t wash, okay?”
Elijah had no choice but to hold her close, causing the water to spill over.
“No, you vomited all over yourself. If you don’t wash, the smell will linger. Be good and let me wash you, you’ll feel better soon.”
Clinging to him, Freya said, “You’re annoying…”
She seemed to comply a little more.
Elijah washed her body, his hands wandering over her skin.
