“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Freya asked him.
Elijah, holding his son in his arms, countered, “Say what?”
Orion, not bothered by anything major this time, stayed calm for two days, his mind at peace.
This time, he didn’t act impulsively like before, indicating his maturity.
He didn’t need anyone to worry about him.
“Eat well.”
Elijah handed her the soup he had served himself, “You drink.”
Freya refused to drink and pushed it back, “I served it to you, you drink.”
She added, “You have to finish it.”
Elijah, “…”

After dinner, Evan took Sacha to the airport.
They returned home.
Kai didn’t want to go back with Elowen and insisted on following Freya.
So, he sat with Freya in a car, leaning against her, looking forlorn like a wilted eggplant.
Morton was asleep, quiet.
“What’s wrong with him?” Elijah asked softly.
Why was he in such a melancholy mood?
Freya gently stroked the back of her son, “He’s sad because he doesn’t want Sacha to leave.”
Kai refused to admit, “I’m not.”
Freya followed up, “Alright, alright, you’re not, then tell Mom, why are you upset?”
“I’m not upset.” He pouted, “I want to find grandma.”
Freya said, “We’ll be home soon.”
“I want to find grandma.” He threw a tantrum.
Elijah lowered his gaze and said softly, “Kai.”
His tone was filled with pressure.
Freya felt a chill just hearing it.
Not to mention Kai.
Kai shrunk his small body, tugging at Freya’s clothes, lowering his head in distress, afraid to speak.
Freya hugged him.
She looked at Elijah, her gaze carrying a hint of blame.
Back home, Kai ran to his room and closed the door.
Elowen took Morton to sleep in the room.
Freya pulled Elijah to the study, “Kai just wants someone to play with him, he’s so little, what does he know?”
“No matter how little, he shouldn’t throw tantrums.” Elijah said.
Freya stared at him silently for a moment, “If he likes to get angry, his temper is just like yours.”
Elijah, “…”
“You’re much better now, how much did you like to get angry at me before?” Freya asked him.
Elijah cleared his throat, “Let’s not talk about the past.”
“Why not talk about it?” Freya asked.
“I used to get angry at you because you provoked me first, you pushed me.” Elijah said.
Freya, “…”
“Unreasonable.” She opened the door, “I’ll go to the yard, you’re not going back to the company?”
Elijah tugged at his collar in irritation, “Children can be loved, but not spoiled.”
“I understand.” Freya said calmly, “It’s my fault.”
She felt guilty for not spending enough time with Kai, which is why she felt sorry when Elijah was lecturing Kai.
Elijah cleared his throat, “I’m not perfect either.”
They locked eyes.
Freya smiled, “Alright, let’s go out together.”
Elijah drove her.
On the way, Freya said, “Will you be back tonight?”
Elijah said, “I’ll be back earlier.”
“Let’s take Kai to see a movie for two nights, there’s a new animated film out that he might like.” Freya suggested.
Elijah murmured his agreement.
As they approached the research institute, Freya’s phone rang.
She took it out, glanced at the caller ID, and answered the call.
“Hello.”
“Have you arrived at the institute today?”
Freya said, “I’m almost there, what’s the matter?”
“Tell me when you get here.”
Neo hung up.
The car stopped, Freya put away her phone and got out.
Elijah lowered the car window.
Freya instructed him, “Drive slowly.”
“Okay.”
Elijah drove off as Freya walked into the institute.
What kind of silent riddle was Neo playing with her over the phone?
