Evan noticed her nervous reaction and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Freya shook her head. “I can’t reach Elijah.”
Evan thought for a moment and said, “Mr. Silverton might have something on, maybe his phone is dead. Don’t worry, nothing will happen.”
Taking a deep breath, Freya said, “Yeah, I’m not worried.”
She started to walk away when Evan, realizing what was happening, hurried after her to the elevator. Just as Freya was about to step in, Evan called out, “Are you looking for Mr. Silverton for something?”
Freya stopped and turned around. “Not really.”
“If you have something on your mind, I can help,” Evan offered.
After a brief silence, Freya said, “It’s a small matter.”
“Should we go to my office?” Evan suggested.
Freya agreed and followed Evan to his office, where he brewed a cup of coffee for her. “What’s the matter?” he asked as he sat down.
Freya got straight to the point. “I need a reliable lawyer. Does the company have one?”
“We have a legal team that is very capable. What kind of lawsuit are you looking to consult on? Are you asking for someone else, or…” Evan inquired.
“For myself,” Freya admitted. “I’ve been sued, and the blame is on me.”
Evan frowned. “Is it a medical dispute?”
“Sort of,” Freya paused. “I’m not in the right in this matter, so I need a lawyer to represent me and buy me some time.”
She knew that as long as the old dean woke up, his son wouldn’t pursue her. If the dean was really dead, she was willing to accept any punishment if it meant buying her some time.
Raising an eyebrow, Evan asked, “A medical accident?”
Typically, medical accidents could be settled with money. With Elijah being so wealthy, how much money could silence the patient’s family?
Freya shook her head and patiently explained the situation to Evan. She believed that having more people know about it would bring more solutions.
Staring at Freya, Evan said, “You were impulsive, weren’t you?”
Because what she did didn’t comply with regulations. If someone died, she would definitely face a lawsuit!
Freya forced a smile. Perhaps everyone thought her decision at the time was irrational.
But she was clear-headed at the time, understanding the trouble her choice could bring.
“I’ll bring someone over to discuss possible solutions.”
Evan got up.
Freya nodded. “I appreciate your help.”
Evan chuckled. “How could it be a bother? I’m just trying to please you. You’re the boss, and I’m your employee.”
Freya couldn’t help but roll her eyes!
Evan stopped the banter, adjusted his expression, and said, “Wait here. I’ll go to the legal department.”
Freya nodded.
As she waited, she took a sip of her coffee. After a while, Evan returned with a bespectacled, well-dressed man.
Although the company’s legal team had no connection to what Freya needed, being a team dug up by Elijah from elsewhere, their ability was undoubtedly strong!
After listening to Freya’s story, the lawyer simply stated, “Your actions are for the purpose of saving someone, and do not constitute intentional harm. As the chosen successor by the patient themselves, it’s evident that the patient trusted you greatly before falling into a coma. So, whether the patient lives or dies, I have a way to help you resolve this matter.”
Freya stared at the lawyer for several seconds. She was both shocked and admiring of his professional abilities, and impressed by his perspective on the matter!
After hearing the lawyer’s assurance, Evan reassured Freya, “If he says he can do it, he will.”
Freya nodded, asking more questions.
Being sued for the first time, she was unsure of what steps to take.
After half an hour of discussion with the lawyer, she understood the basic procedures, knowing that the lawyer would handle everything for her!
She left the company.
It had been two hours since she tried to call Elijah.
She made another call.
