As Donaldson was about to speak, Freya turned and walked away.
Lane Glover grabbed Donaldson’s arm. “Mr Donaldson, you’ve always taken care of Freya. If you speak up, she will listen to you.”
Donaldson was clever too, and he knew that it was best for Freya to handle this matter herself. Even if Freya was willing to let Lane Glover off the hook, she had to confront Lane Glover directly on her own.
“You handle your own affairs, you’re not a child. What’s there to be embarrassed about?” Donaldson said before leaving.
Freya had to figure things out on her own.
No matter how much others said, it was useless.
Lane Glover sat on a stone bench, full of distress.
She wasn’t oblivious to the pros and cons, and she knew that her job was more important.
She just couldn’t swallow her pride.
She believed that Freya was the one who started the trouble.
And Freya was so much younger than her.
She knew that once she apologized, it meant that she could no longer act superior to Freya.
In the future, when they met at work, she would feel utterly embarrassed.
…
After meeting with Donaldson, Freya revealed her plan for dealing with Neo Miller.
“I want him to be my assistant.”
Donaldson was surprised. “This… this is your plan?”
“You keep someone who harmed you so close to you, what are you thinking?” Donaldson couldn’t understand.
Freya said, “I want to test him.”
“And then?” Donaldson asked.
“If he really is the kind-hearted person you described, then I won’t pursue this matter. As long as he works hard and contributes to our research, it will be a way to make up for his mistakes!”
Donaldson took a deep breath as his furrowed brow relaxed.
Initially, he was worried that Freya would punish Neo Miller severely. This outcome caught him completely off guard.
He knew he didn’t misjudge Freya.
Although young, she had a broad perspective when it came to handling things.
She handled Neo Miller’s situation well.
It showed that she had a generous heart, the kind of demeanor a leader should possess.
“Alright, I’ll go tell him.” Donaldson said.
…
Freya went back to work.
Lane Glover didn’t come to apologize or plead with her. Maybe she was intentionally avoiding her, and Freya didn’t even catch a glimpse of her.
But Freya didn’t let it bother her.
She focused on her work.
When it was time to clock out, she left.
No overtime today.
Because she had to go back and explain to Elijah that her decision today wasn’t a deliberate refusal of his help.
After changing her clothes, as she was about to reach the main gate, Deck came running towards her.
Though he wasn’t sick, he was getting older.
Panting, he said, “Madam.”
Before he could finish, Freya cut him off and said directly, “I’ve said what needed to be said. Please don’t come looking for me again. I won’t meet with him.”
“Sir knows you won’t meet with him, that’s why he came to see you,” Deck said. “He’s waiting outside.”
Freya furrowed her brows.
This was the second time Jack had cornered her.
She was just here to work.
If they kept coming every day to corner her, how could she work properly?
She took a deep breath. “Take me there!”
She decided to make things clear with Jack to prevent him from constantly coming over.
As they made their way, Deck said, “Sir’s condition is not good. It’s not advisable for him to go out, but he came to see you, disregarding his own health…”
“It has nothing to do with me,” Freya interrupted him.
She didn’t want him to play the emotional card with her.
She wasn’t falling for that.
Besides, Jack wasn’t her biological grandfather.
He was Elijah’s, and she couldn’t make any decisions for Elijah.
As they arrived at the car, Deck opened the door for her. Freya glanced at Jack in the car and bent down to get in.
