Feeling that something was off, Freya immediately turned her gaze towards Adam.
Adam looked puzzled, “What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”
Freya pointed at Ronan, “He’s your relative?”
Adam honestly replied, “Yes, he’s my cousin. His mother is my aunt.”
“He’s sick?” Freya asked again.
Adam said, “Yes, he told me so and asked if you could see him.”
Freya’s lips twitched.
Alright, it was her carelessness. She never expected Adam and Ronan to be relatives.
“Why are you so surprised?” Ronan stood up and slowly walked towards Freya.
Freya cautiously stepped back, and the next second, she turned around and tried to run. But someone blocked the doorway. It was a group of sturdy men, looking fierce and menacing! Freya was trapped, and she immediately turned to look at Ronan, “What do you want?”
“You’re a doctor, and I’m a patient. Of course, I want you to treat me,” Ronan said with a smile.
Freya narrowed her eyes, “I can’t treat your illness. Go find someone else. And hurry up and let me go. You know Elijah’s temper. If he finds out that you’ve caused trouble again, he won’t let you off easily.”
Ronan stared at her.
Freya felt a tingling sensation from his gaze, “Don’t look at me like that!”
Ronan snorted coldly, then turned back and sat on the sofa, crossing his legs. He looked at Adam, “You can go about your business now, I don’t need you here anymore.”
Adam asked in confusion, “You and Freya know each other, why did you involve me?”
“Didn’t you notice how she spoke to me? We had a little misunderstanding, and she didn’t want to see me. That’s why I asked for your help. Thank you for that.”
Adam looked at Freya, “You should clear up the misunderstanding between you two. I’ll leave now.”
“No…” Freya wanted to stop him.
But Adam interrupted her, “You should talk things out and resolve the misunderstanding. Besides, we all know each other. Isn’t it better to be friends?”
Freya shook her head, “Ronan and I can never be friends. We are enemies…”
“So, there is a misunderstanding,” Ronan waved his hand, “Adam, you should leave now.”
Adam didn’t say anything more and turned to leave.
Freya shouted, “Adam!”
Adam still didn’t turn back.
Ronan smiled, “Stop calling, it’s useless. He won’t believe you.”
Freya glared at him, “What do you want now?”
“Of course, it’s tit for tat. How Elijah dealt with me, I’ll deal with him the same way. He cares about you, doesn’t he?”
Freya gradually calmed down. “So, how do you plan to deal with me?”
“Make him suffer,” Ronan smirked, exuding a sense of ferocity. “Do you know how he treated me?”
Freya coldly replied, “However he treated you, you deserved it. It was your fault in the first place. Don’t just blame Elijah, I hate you too. I just don’t have the means to punish you like he does. But if I could, I would be even more ruthless than him!”
Ronan’s face twitched with anger, his veins popping out. Mocking and sarcastic, he said, “You two are indeed a couple, cut from the same cloth. Alright then, since it’s like this, I don’t have to show you any mercy!”
After speaking, he waved his hand, “Bring him in.”
Soon, a man in a white coat entered. He looked like a doctor. Freya instinctively dodged and stared at the man cautiously. She had no idea what Ronan had in store for her but she was certain that he harbored ill intentions.
“Will you lie down on the hospital bed by yourself, or shall I have them hold you down?” Ronan’s voice remained icy, without a hint of fluctuation.
He used to be relatively gentle towards Freya. But this time, their relationship was irreparably damaged! Elijah had gone all out against him. And he was ready to do the same. If things couldn’t be good, then they would all be miserable.
Without waiting for Freya’s response, Ronan continued, “I know you’re a doctor, and I know you have skills and wisdom. I’ve suffered losses at your hands before. But this time, you won’t be able to escape.”
