“Buying a cake?” Sacha asked with a smile.
She was not unfamiliar at all.
Freya nodded.
“Evan is too busy and doesn’t have time to accompany me. I feel so bored alone. Can I come to hang out with you?” Sacha asked.
Freya wasn’t intentionally rejecting her, but she genuinely didn’t have the time. During this time off work, she wanted to take care of her child at home.
“Don’t you want to do something? Like the job you like, so you can pass the time,” Freya suggested.
“I thought about it, but Evan said he would support me,” Sacha said with a happy expression.
Freya looked at her and couldn’t help but smile. When someone feels happy, they emit a certain radiance. It makes the person looking at them feel warm too.
“What are you laughing at?” Sacha asked. “Did I say something wrong?”
“No,” Freya lifted her water glass and took a sip. “Congratulations on finding someone like Evan.”
Sacha rested her chin in her hand. “He’s alright to me, but he’s just so busy. Sometimes I don’t even see him for two days, and he doesn’t come home at night either.”
“He must have a demanding job.” Freya commented.
“Oh, by the way…” Sacha was about to say something, but then Freya’s cake was ready. She got up to fetch it.
“I have to go now.”
“You go ahead, I’ll go shopping later.” Sacha replied.
Freya walked briskly with the cake in hand. When she reached the doorway, she paused and turned back to ask Sacha, “Do you want to come to my place?”
Sacha exclaimed excitedly, “Sure!” Then, hesitatingly, she asked, “Would Elijah be unhappy if he saw me?”
After all, she didn’t have any relationship with Elijah; Sacha was adopted by Elijah’s mother, and that was all.
“Not at all,” Freya said.
Sacha felt relieved and walked boldly with her. Sacha was a small-talker, and people liked her. She intimately linked her arm with Freya’s.
“You’re my sister-in-law.” Sacha explained, “My mom raised me. Although I have no blood relation with Elijah, we have the same mother. So I can consider myself one-tenth his sister.”
Sacha’s words amused Freya.
“You have such a good personality.”
As they neared home, Freya said, “I have a child at home. I don’t know if you’ll be comfortable.”
“I’ll be fine,” Sacha said with a smile. “I really like children.”
The car stopped, and Sacha took the initiative to help Freya with her things. Inside the house, Linda came to take the items from their hands. Freya went to pour water for Sacha.
“Feel free to take a seat.”
Sacha looked around the house and commented, “The decoration here is nice.”
Freya placed a glass of water in front of her.
“Mama!”
Kai ran out.
“Where’s the cake?”
“Here,” Linda said.
Upon seeing the food, Kai didn’t care about his mother anymore and ran over with his little legs. “Linda, I want to eat cake.”
His voice was tender.
“Okay, I’ll cut a piece for you.” The cake wasn’t big, so Linda cut a small piece for him. Then she cut two more slices and brought them into the living room to serve the guest.
Kai also sat on the sofa to eat. At such a young age, he crossed his legs and nestled comfortably on the couch, looking very carefree. Sacha found him amusing and deliberately sat next to him. “I’ll ask you a question. If you can answer it I’ll give you this piece of cake, deal?”
“Deal!” Kai readily agreed.
“What’s your name?” Sacha asked.
“My name is Fraser Silverton, and my nickname is Kai.” Kai blinked his big eyes. “Who are you? Why did you come to our house?”
Sacha chuckled and said, “You can call me Auntie.”
After saying that, she looked at Freya. “Can I let him call me that?”
Freya nodded. On her side, she only had Elowen and Zane as family. Elijah’s closest relatives were no longer around. Having one more family member was nice.
“Freya, quickly look at this news,” Elowen suddenly walked out of the house and said.
