“Thorne and his girlfriend have been rescued,” Evan’s voice came through.
Elijah’s gaze darkened. “What happened?”
“I received a call from the director, so I immediately rushed to Riverside Haven Mental Hospital. I saw the room where they were held, and there was a hole drilled from the outside.”
Elijah closed his eyes. “I understand. Find out who saved them as soon as possible.”
“Okay.”
Elijah hung up the phone.
Freya asked, “What happened?”
“Thorne and his girlfriend, who were locked up in the mental hospital, have been rescued.” Elijah put down his spoon, losing his appetite.
“Even if something happens, we still have to eat.” Freya walked over and handed him the spoon. “Don’t waste my effort.”
Elijah looked at her and smiled. “Alright, I won’t waste it.”
Freya wasn’t worried about the security issue here. It was almost foolproof.
“Who could it be?” She asked.
Elijah answered without hesitation, “The person who saved Thorne is definitely Jack. But he should have saved him earlier. I don’t understand why he’s making a move now.”
Freya wondered too. But there were no clues.
“Don’t think about it. Evan will find out,” Elijah didn’t want her to worry. “Go upstairs and get some rest.”
“I’ll wait for you to finish eating.” Freya smiled. “I have to watch you finish so you don’t waste anything.”
“I won’t leave a single grain.” Elijah scooped a spoonful and brought it to her lips. “You should have a bite too.”
Freya hesitated for a moment and then took a bite.
In the morning, Elijah left early without even having breakfast. Freya knew he must be furious about Thorne being rescued. Today would definitely be busy for him. She woke up as usual, but she didn’t plan to go out today. While she had the time, she wanted to spend more time with the children.
Around ten o’clock, her phone rang. It was the director of the research institute, saying he wanted to meet her. The director had been very helpful in the research on the medicine, so she knew she had to go meet him.
“Let’s meet at Yuyuan Chinese Restaurant for lunch. What do you think?”
“Alright.”
Freya agreed without hesitation.
After hanging up the phone, Elowen asked, “Are you going out?”
Freya replied, “Yes, I have to.”
“When you come back, can you buy some cotton fabric? Even the best diapers are not breathable enough. We need good cloth diapers to prevent the baby from getting a diaper rash. We don’t have enough at home. We change it every time the baby pees. The ones on the balcony are all used diapers.”
Freya said, “Okay, and is there anything else we need? I’ll buy them together.”
“I want toys,” Kai ran over and hugged Freya’s legs, “And cake and pudding.”
Freya pinched her son’s cheeks. “Alright.”
At eleven o’clock, Freya set off.
When she arrived, Dr Wang was already there. She quickened her pace to approach him.
“Sorry, I’m late.”
“It’s alright, I just arrived too.” Dr Wang waved for her to sit.
Freya took a seat and asked, “You wanted to talk to me?”
He did have something to discuss with Freya.
“Shall we talk while we eat?”
Freya agreed.
“The food here is very good, especially the Coral Flower Abalone dish. It tastes really great. You must try it later.”
Freya smiled and said, “Sure.”
The director ordered several signature dishes from the restaurant, and the food was served quickly here.
“Give it a try,” the director urged Freya to use her fork.
The flavor was indeed excellent. There was also a dish of fresh asparagus and lily bulbs that suited Freya’s taste. After a while, when they had almost finished their meal, the director finally spoke up.
“I suddenly reached out to you. Did I catch you off guard?”
“No, not at all. If you have something to discuss, please go ahead.”
The director pondered for a moment before speaking up.
