Freya lazily said, “We agreed to go to Stratos City, remember?”
Elijah lowered his gaze and stared at her for a few seconds. “Let’s do this tomorrow. Get some good rest.”
“No, I have to go today. I’ll feel refreshed after a short nap.” Freya said, closing her eyes to relax.
Elijah didn’t try to persuade her further.
He tucked her in, saying, “Alright, I’ll wake you up in an hour.”
Freya nodded in response. After that, there was silence.
An hour later, before Elijah could wake her up, Freya was already awake. With something on her mind, she couldn’t sleep peacefully. She got up and dressed. Elijah hadn’t slept either. He had arranged for a car to take them to Stratos City and made sure everything was taken care of at home. Both he and Freya left together. Without proper arrangements, he couldn’t rest assured.
Later, they bid their farewells to the family and set off into the night towards Stratos City. They were in a luxury car, with comfortable seats for Freya to lie down and rest. When they arrived, Evan had already “invited” Ronan’s child over. Now Ronan was looking for him. Elijah glanced at Evan and felt satisfied. He was quick to take action. Now they just had to wait for Ronan to come knocking on the door himself.
“I’ll handle this matter. You go and rest,” Elijah said to Freya.
But Freya couldn’t possibly fall asleep. There was a little baby here. Even though it wasn’t her own, she couldn’t ignore it. There were only men here, no one would take care of such a young child. It wasn’t the baby’s fault for the mistakes made by the adults. So, she asked Evan to prepare some formula and baby supplies. As a mother who had given birth to two children, she was adept at taking care of infants. The little baby hardly cried. He ate when he was hungry and slept when he was full.
Elijah didn’t have such a kind heart. He didn’t even have a pleasant expression when looking at the little baby. Freya continued to take care of him, paying attention to every detail.
Evan was also sharp-witted and immediately stepped forward. “Mr Silverton, when I stole the child, I left a clue for Ronan. He will definitely find the hotel soon.”
As soon as Evan finished speaking, there was an urgent knock on the door. Freya carried the baby into the inner room. Evan went to open the door.
The moment the door opened, Ronan shouted, “Elijah, what do you mean by stealing my child?”
Elijah sat on the sofa, silent, staring coldly at him.
Ronan pushed Evan aside, furious. “Where is my child?”
Elijah ignored him.
Ronan continued, “What did I do to offend you?”
Elijah finally spoke coldly, “Do you not have any idea about what you’ve done?”
Ronan believed that he had been very secretive this time. He had spent a huge amount of money to bribe foreign doctors. And he made sure that the doctor involved had left the country after performing the surgery on Freya. He didn’t believe that Elijah could trace it back to him.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but your people stole my child. It’s an indisputable fact,” Ronan said, showing Elijah the surveillance footage of the baby being taken. “Take a good look. This is Evan’s face. He did this. You can’t deny it, can you? Don’t tell me he acted on his own.”
“It was me who asked him to do it,” Elijah raised his gaze. “And I think you should also know why I did it.”
Ronan continued to feign ignorance, “I don’t know.”
“Then, just think about it carefully. If you can’t figure it out, you’ll never see your child again in your lifetime.”
