Chapter 423 Escape and Consequences

Haley felt a sudden shock. “Could it be that someone is coming to rescue her?”
The man grew nervous too, observing the shadows outside where there were many people. It was just the two of them, Haley and the man. Even if Haley were a man, they wouldn’t stand a chance against so many people. Moreover, judging from the situation, it seemed like they were outnumbered ten to one.
“What do we do?” Haley started to panic.
The man was no better off. Panic overwhelmed them both.
“Should we escape quickly?” the man suggested.
Haley was reluctant. “But we haven’t gotten the money yet.”
“Do you think money is more important, or our lives?” the man countered.
Haley pondered briefly. “Our lives.”
Without their lives, what use was money?
“That’s right. There’s life, there’s hope.” The man said, pulling Haley towards a window with only bricks stacked up. They jumped onto a platform below, then from the platform into the bushes, and made their escape.
Orion spoke nonchalantly, “They probably got scared and ran away when they saw us.”
“Should we chase them?” one of Elijah’s subordinates asked.
Elijah replied, “No.”
Those were Dina’s enemies, not his. Besides, he found their actions just now quite pleasing, although not ruthless enough. However, Elijah still sought Orion’s opinion. Because Haley was involved.
“After the divorce, it’s none of my concern. Whatever she wants to do is her own business.” Orion distanced himself from Haley.
Elijah took a step toward Dina, who was still puzzled as to why those two suddenly fled. Upon seeing Elijah, she understood.
“Elijah, help!” she pleaded.
Dina had no idea that Freya had already healed Kai. And Zane was also rescued by Elijah. She no longer had any leverage! Before Dina could respond, Orion stepped forward. “You have no idea how you’ll meet your end, yet he still helps you?” Without waiting for Dina’s reply, Orion continued, “I never expected you to be so narrow-minded and vicious.”
Now, thinking back to what Haley said about Dina, it was all true.
Dina’s eyes darted around, trying to evade. “What are you talking about?”
“Evan woke up,” Orion smirked. “He had a car accident. Was it your doing?”
Dina was shocked and incredulous. “Evan woke up?” She quickly composed herself. “What evidence does he have to prove that I caused the accident?”
She was confident because she had erased all the evidence. Even if Evan suspected, he wouldn’t find any evidence. As long as she didn’t admit it, no one could do anything to her. Besides, she was about to become Elijah’s wife. Who cared about Evan!
Seeing through her thoughts, Orion couldn’t help but mock, “Delusional!”
Dina sneered, “What do you know?!” She shifted her gaze to Elijah. “I’m injured. Take me to the hospital.”
“Take you to the hospital? It’s more like sending you to hell!” Orion’s voice turned icy.
Things had escalated to this point. Couldn’t she see the situation clearly?
Dina hesitated, cautiously examining Elijah’s expression. He had no expression on his face, but there was a sense of darkness emanating from his very core, instilling fear in anyone who crossed his path.
Dina was so nervous that her speech became incoherent. “Eli… Mr Silverton…”
She wanted to call Elijah’s first name but quickly changed her words.
Elijah didn’t want to hear a single word from her now. “Silence her and take her away.”
“Yes, sir.”
The subordinates responded, approaching the bound secretary and loosening her restraints before escorting her away.
Dina struggled. “Where are you… taking me?”
Before she could finish her sentence, her mouth was gagged.
“Mm-mm…” She wanted to speak. But she couldn’t, only making muffled sounds.
Soon, they drove off, heading towards the same villa as before. The one Elijah thought Freya had died in, the villa he bought for her. Inside, they had prepared many surprises for Dina. It would be too easy to let Dina die quickly. She needed to suffer torment before her demise.
Upon arriving at the villa, Elijah’s subordinates threw Dina to the ground hard. She was in a disheveled state, crawling like an animal. Inside the villa, the corpse still lay there. The memorial hall was still intact. The entire villa exuded a chilling atmosphere. Dina’s inner fear grew. She wanted to remind Elijah that their son’s life was still in her hands, that he couldn’t harm her. But she couldn’t say it. The feeling of being at someone else’s mercy was terrifying. Her body trembled uncontrollably. She was so frightened that she couldn’t even feel the pain from the wounds on her face.
As she crawled towards Elijah, she reached out and grabbed his pant leg, trying to remove the gag in her mouth to speak, but she was kicked away. She slammed hard into the wall with a loud thud. It shook her to the core. She held her abdomen in pain, curling up and groaning. Elijah walked over. Dina looked at him through her disheveled hair. Elijah gestured for someone to remove the gag from her mouth.
“Elijah, you… how could you treat me like this? Don’t you want to save your son?” Dina quickly said, knowing what Elijah cared about.
Elijah looked at her as if she were a mere ant. Dina didn’t understand what was wrong since she was certain that Elijah couldn’t find the medication for treatment.
“If you kill me, your son will be buried with me, along with Zane,” Dina tried to use this to manipulate Elijah.
However, at this moment, two people appeared in front of her. The same people she had bribed to keep an eye on Zane. But now they were here. That meant Elijah had found Zane.
Dina panicked, “Even if Zane Stone is gone, you still have your son…”
“My wife’s medical skills are among the best in the world. What do you know?” Elijah narrowed his eyes, “Do you know what awaits you now?”
Dina’s pupils trembled in fear, her eyes wide with bloodshot veins.
Did Freya find the medication for treatment?
How was that possible?
“Even so, you can’t kill me. First, it’s against the law to kill someone. Second, I hold a lot of company secrets. If I don’t return, those secrets will be exposed, causing significant losses to the company. Aren’t you concerned about that?” Dina still left herself a way out.
But she underestimated Elijah. At the moment of her betrayal, Elijah had already filtered through all the business she had been involved in, processed the important information she could access, and traced the fact that she had placed that information in an encrypted email. But with the many talented individuals under Elijah, cracking a secret was a piece of cake. They had already destroyed the scheduled email.
“Are you talking about this email?” Elijah showed her the destroyed email, making her witness her own hand being played out, unable to escape her current predicament.
Dina was completely hopeless now.
“Forgive me, please…” Dina begged for mercy.
Elijah wouldn’t personally harm her because that would dirty his own hands. He turned to the two men who were with Dina, “Do you want me to let you go?”
“We do.” The two men responded and knelt down on the ground.
Begging incessantly, they said, “We won’t dare anymore.”
Elijah coldly said, “I’ll give you a chance. Whoever tortures her the most, I’ll let go first.”
Upon hearing Elijah’s words, the men rushed to attack Dina, competing to be the first. One of them grabbed Dina’s arm and bit down without caring about appearances. The other one straddled her, repeatedly slapping her face left and right.
