JAYDEN
I was having a hard time convincing my wolf to let me shift out. He’s scared. He thinks Catriona would be taken away again and lose the child.
C’mon beast, let me out so that I can drive Catriona home.  You’re scared for her, I get it, but she’ll be safer at the house and you-we will ease from anxiety when she’s at the pack house.  I said and felt his strained muscles lose.  I shifted back and drew myself to Catriona.  I crouched to her, her breathing wasn’t normal and that worried me to death. I brought my hand to carry her but she swept my hands away. She pointed behind me. I followed her hand and froze when I saw a police car with two officers in it, their eyes, mouths wide, filled with horror. I carried Catriona and sat her in the car.  She held my hand as I was about to go and stared deep into my eyes.
What are you going to do to them? They saw you shifting. She asked through a mind link with a wobbling voice.
You know, baby. I have no choice when it comes to this. Humans can’t know about us.  She let go of my hand and shut her eyes.   I closed the door and sauntered toward the police car. They saw me coming and looked at each other before getting out with their hands on their guns.  I wasted no time and shifted and lurched at the first one. The other one pulled out a gun and fired it toward me. I hope they aren’t silver bullets.  I pounced on him and stung my claws deep in his flesh tearing it.  When I made sure they were no more,  I headed to my car, opened the trunk and pulled out some pairs of jeans and a shirt and yanked them on before I got in the car and hit the road.
The whole drive was so quiet but was at ease that Catriona’s breathing was steady though her eyes were cavernous. As I drove through the driveway, I noticed a familiar car following behind.  I parked and got out to open the door for Catriona and help her in the house.  I can manage from here. She mind-linked me.  As she walked past me, Lauren dashed out of the house over to Catriona. In a flash, she knocked her down.
This is all because of you. She yelled.
I rushed down to my mate whose eyes were wide with shock. Catriona, are you okay?  Without noticing, Gabriel’s wolf sprang out of his car that was parking. He sprang to attack Lauren but I got between.  his claws passed through tearing my shirt and into my skin. I groaned, feeling them deep in my flesh.  The pack members were now tensing they shifted and were ready to get into action. I backed them down but  Jerome didn’t listen to me and leapt on Gabriel’s angry wolf down.  They went rolling, growling, snarling and snapping at each other.
Everybody, get back to whatever fuck you were doing. And Alia, get this woman back inside. I yelled.  She immediately ran over and picked her up.  The colour on Lauren’s face was gone that she looked like she was about to die.
How’s she still here? Why is she violent?  She never laid her hand on me before, except for the harassment and the hateful words she used. Did they do something to her that she hasn’t left yet? Catriona asked.
I shifted to face her. Her eyes shot like a spear.  Do you know anything? She asked.  I’m sorry I  didn’t tell you.  Tell me what?! She deadpanned.  She was attacked by the wolf. I don’t know how it happened but it did.  Then why didn’t you wipe that incident from her head? She asked. There was no need because she’ll soon become a werewolf. I’ll go wash up and meet my brother. Don’t follow me. I’ll be fine on my own. She said and sauntered away.
I saw her disappearing into the house. My aching. I  shifted my gaze over to Jerome’s wolf who got pinned down by Gabriel. He was fighting to free himself from Gabriel’s pin but Gabriel is much stronger.  I charged over and fathomed him off, Jerome. You both need to stop, right now. We have a lot going on already.
They both shifted back. I motioned Gabriel to follow me. I led him to Jerome’s office.
As soon as he stepped inside, I flipped.  What the fuck is wrong with you, Gabe? What was that for?
Did you expect me to stay still when that little thing attacked my girl? He said and I gave her a look.  What are you doing here, Gabe?  I asked, my voice even.
I came to see Catriona.  The day she left my house unknowingly I couldn’t shut my eyes. And what triggered my demons was what happened earlier. It looked like I’m the problem with whatever is going on which I want to know directly from her mouth.
There’s nothing you’re getting from her. It was her decision to bring her family back to her real mate who is me, Gabe.  So, I suggest you stop playing those moronic antics on other people’s mates. I said. He clenched his jaws, the veins on his head expanded and bulged and I knew I got him deep.  I know he doesn’t like being told what to do but I will keep on reminding him of his boundaries to my mate.
Promptly, he collared me, snarling.  Never in a minute did I play with her. My feelings for her were real and still are. You know very well that she was mated to me as well.   I grabbed him back by his bare neck.  She’s marked Gabe. I marked her. That makes her mine, alone. I snarled back.
You marked her, yes, but the mate bond between us is still alive and active.  Much active. I’m certain she feels it, too. It’s just that something is between us that wants to drive us apart which I won’t allow fuck to whatever it is.
Go find yourself a mate and leave my mate. I groaned. We were a few minutes away to shift and rip each other’s heads until Catriona’s guttural voice reverberated. We shifted our gazes to her. She had clean clothes on but there was still dry blood on her skin which tells she must’ve just changed clothes.  I drifted my eyes down to her hands which held two silver knives.
Were you preparing something in the kitchen?  I asked, sounding dumb.
No, these are for you two.  Since you can’t keep your hands off each other’s throats it might quicken up your deaths.  You two grown-up men who are alphas are becoming the death of me.  This is for you. She said, pointing a knife at me. I blenched, dodging its gleaming sharp tip. And this is for you. She said gnashing her teeth, pointing another knife at Gabe. He blenched, too faking a wince.  Be careful with that thing, pumpkin.
Don’t pumpkin me and take the knife. She Snapped. We both cringed at her sudden snap.  She had no sign of jokes in her eyes but sparkle blazes of umbrage which made my insides twist.  I looked over at Gabriel to see if he saw what I saw coming from Catriona. She has that aura of submissiveness.   She threw the knives down and turns to Gabriel.  You, follow me. It’s what you followed her here. To talk to her. Isn’t it? Now follow me. She said and turned around.  I held her hand to stop her and what I saw next was being hurled in the air and to Jerome’s desk.
I won’t repeat myself.  She said, looking up at Gabe and started walking out. Alia came running inside, calling out to me. Alpha…
She was hurled backwards as well as she accidentally made body contact with Catriona.
Watch out, young girl. Catriona said and then sauntered out. Gabriel followed suit.  Alia struggled her way up groaning. We have a problem, alpha. Before I could ask her the problem she continued, giving me no space to talk. Lauren was bitten by a snake. We searched for the snake that bit her but we couldn’t find it, not even its trails in our wolf form. What scares us is that she’s now acting weird.  She finished.
Lead the way, I ordered. I stared in the direction my mate went to with a naked Gabe.
I reached the basement in one of the rooms  Lauren was being kept in and was nonplussed at the smell coming out of it.  Alaia was in the corner clamping her mouth and on the other side, Alia gasped.  What’s wrong with her? She does have a snake bite mark but none of us saw it yet we never left the room. Alaia voiced.
Before I could collect everything in, Lauren’s body began forming greenish burn scales. Before I could get time to react she let out a piercing cry.
