GABRIEL
“For real? Have you made up your mind? I didn’t expect you to be this quick after playing so hard to get.”
I didn’t come here for a prattle. I’m serious about this. I want catriona. I can’t lose her to Jayden. He’d hurt her enough. It’s time for me to take the lead in protecting her. I want to show him how alphas protect their mates. I want to show him what protection means when it comes to mates.
If you say so. As long as you know both their full names, let’s head right to it.
She scampered, veering into the library. How did you discover this library? I asked.
A werewolf house without a library in it isn’t a werewolf house. I just had to give myself a quick tour. I’m not quite sure if you’re aware that we witches love libraries. Anyways, write me down their full names as I bring what I’d need for the spell.
As I wrote down the names on a sheet of paper I had to ask myself if this was the right thing to do. I’m an alpha. I don’t need witches’ help to get the woman I love. I just have to prove to her that I am the right mate for her. The witch came back with a small clear glass bottle of water and a bowl in rhs sky blue in colour. She opened the small bottle and poured the water into the bowl and then pulled the paper from my hands, creased it three times before soaking it in the water. A faint smoke began coming out of the bowl. PERFECT. She said and then looked up at me with a broad smile.
Come sit across from me so that I can continue with the spell.
Don’t Bother Yourself. I’m not interested anymore. If I’m to get her I’ll do it in my own ways. If I claim her this way, I will be cheating. She gave me a disorientated linger.
I was ready to leave when she jumped up on me by grabbing my shirt.
You can’t quit out just like that when you’re the one who asked me to do it. Do you know what I went through to get this magic water? I got it just for you. It can’t go to waste. She said.
I don’t remember asking you for it to begin with. My despair led me to this mere temptation. Now I’m not interested. Got it.
I should’ve not lifted my spirit. But thank you for giving me their names.
I didn’t put her words at heart and headed out. I spotted Catriona down the hall darting around. Looking for me, pumpkin? I asked her in mindlink. She looked up at me and me at her. Damn, She’s a masterpiece. She’s magnificent. She hummed in response. I paced in my walking and reached to her. Her beautiful big eyes looked into mine as she struggled with what she wanted to tell me….
Is it okay with you to let my family stay here for a few more days. My brother really likes it here and doesn’t want to leave yet.
Of course, pumpkin. Of course I am okay with whatever makes you comfortable and happy. Just know this is your house too. So it is to your family.
It makes me uncomfortable if you call me pumpkin now that there’s nothing between us. She said, facing down.
I carefully stepped closer, closing the gap between us. I could feel the heat radiating through her body bearing down on me like an anchor. Why do your eyes, your mind, your heart, and your body tell something else? I asked, my voice hardly a whisper.
“I… I meant every word I said to you.” She faltered.
I know you don’t mean it, pumpkin. Because… I can see it through your soul that you’re lying. I traced my finger tips onto her tender skin, nuzzling it, making her shudder. I used the opportunity of her shudderness and lowered myself down. I cupped her pretty face in my hands as I gently pressed my lips to hers into a long intense kiss. She was resilient but softened up when I slid my tongue inside. First it was gentle but became hungrier. The tetherness between us is unbreakable, pumpkin. Can’t you feel it? We’re not just mates. We are soulmates. I mindlinked with her. I moved my hand beneath her shirt, her soft skin so warm on my hand, and up her covered breasts.
She pulled away from my body with a jolt, her face flushed in red.
I gotta go. Jayden must be waiting for me.
And just like that, she was gone. I wanted to follow her and stop her from going but suddenly my phone rang from my pants pocket. I got the phone and was surprised when I saw the caller Id. “What does Jayden want from me now?”
What a great surprise of you Jayden Evers to call me. Did you call to make sure I’m taking good care of catriona? Well, if that’s the case she’d been doing fantastic.
She’s not the reason I called. He said curtly.
Why do I feel like you don’t give a shit about her being here? There was a long silence.
Well I called to ask for a little favour from you.
Okay. What would be the favour you want from me?
My school is in a critical catastrophe. I’ve lost a huge number of students and others are mutilated. I’m bringing all of them to the pack house but I don’t have enough space for the whole school, so I’ll be grateful if you help me out as I find a solution. I fell silent for a while, not because of the favour he’s asking me but because I’m freaked out that he actually didn’t want to brag about Catriona. How odd. Does he even know that she’s at my house now? Did catriona sneak out without his notice?
Are you gonna leave me hanging on the phone like that? He asked, pulling me out.
Yes, sure. I mean count on me. But before sending me your puppies make sure you brief them on where they’re coming. I don’t condone ….. That dickhead. Is that how he thanked me, hanging up the phone on my face, in the middle of a convo.
I still had the peculiar look when this little witch snapped her fingers up my face to get my attention. And sure she did. What is it this time?
Is that how you talk to your little human girl? I’ll be a little honest here, your way of talking hurts women. Anyway, I saw your little human leaving but very soon you might see her back here. So you’re gonna owe me a big thank you.
I gave her a stare….
What are you spouting about? I asked.
I did the spell. Thanks to the names you gave me before ceasing off. I kind of underestimated that girl. She really does have a strong vitality. She’s untouchable but not Jayden Evers. He will finish the job for me. She smirked. Jayden Evers. Even saying his nameI feels good already.
Fury flared hot deep in my muscles that I could squall this damn house down.
I meant it when I told you not to continue with the spell. Do I look like a joke to you? Just because I let you stay in my house doesn’t give you the right to do whatsoever you want. I hate sluts like you who act all ballsy in my house. I’m no one’s friend here. When I say NO it means NO. Now who the fuck do you think you are to infringe me in my house?
She backed away with fear. I thought this is what you wanted. Didn’t you say you want her by yourself? She said, impedimently, receding in terror with her hand up as to ward me off.
Before I could make a move to this dull-witted witch, a light cough from the hall obtruded me. I averted around just to see Catriona’s grandmother staring back at me and to the witch with both her hands covering the boy’s ears. She had teary eyes and at the same time looked at me like I’m some kind of brute. The way she looks at me tells me she heard everything we spouted out here.
