JAYDEN
I shifted, my wolf impacting me up as I darted into the woods. Listen to me human, we all want Edward out of our sight, right? My wolf asked. Is that a question? I asked. Look, this isn’t an unpleasant suggestion but I’m very certain that there’s something bothering that crotch. I saw it in his damn eyes back from our fight. So, my suggestion is that instead of driving ourselves up the walls, why not first see or listen to what he’s going to say. There must be a very good reason he came to you out of a sudden. And that’s why I want us to find out and maybe we could use it to destroy him in the blink of an eye.
I’m not interested in whatever good reasons he has. I don’t intend to let that bloodsucker breathe again after destroying me, my family. But doing that I need an explanation on why he did what he did to my family.
Welcome son. I thought you wouldn’t come but here you are. I’m glad you respected my call.
You can call me anything you want in this world but never call me your son. It disgusts me.
I’m aware of that. But aren’t you being a little rude. Shouldn’t you be grateful I gave you life? I gave you a chance to live. I can see the hatred you have toward me flaring from deep down your soul but you got nothing to with it but to cool it because at this moment, you can’t do anything. I’m not so dull to approach a strong wolf alpha like you with a desolated mind. He driveled.
I was clenching my teeth in a murderous way to the extent of hurting my Jaws with pain because I can’t do anything to him as he said. He must’ve used some kind of magic that’s stopping me from making physical contact with him.
“Anyway, That’s not why I wanted to see you. He said.”
Alright, here we go! My wolf groaned.
Why did you kill my mom and dad? And most of it, why did you assault my mom? I asked. He looked taken aback as if he didn’t expect the question.
I’m afraid you will hate your mom the moment I tell you. He replied.
It’s none of your concern on how i will feel about my own mother you mother fucker. Just open your disgusting mouth and tell me.
“Why did you do it?” I asked.
“For fun.” He answered, Sniggering.
I shifted and launched an attack. I sprinted backward with force and collided my whole weight with the sequoia tree and bowled down on the grass forest ground with a loud groan. The bustard ambled over to where I fell. Every foot step he took toward me left my body immobilized. When he made it to my numb body, he sat on his haunches, eyeing me with a jeering smile.
I’ll briefly tell you the reason behind my actions thirty years ago. But only if you agree to help me with what I came for. And you don’t have a choice here. You’re the Alpha of your pack but I am your father here.
Now listen to me, since you’re so anxious to know the truth.
Your mother was my woman who I cherished, loved and cared for. I never once got the love and affection back from her because she was in love with that dog. “Your father” whom she ran away with after abandoning her newborn child. Your stupid mom bandoned her child, the child we had together because of that worthless dog of you father. I’d have bared anything because of the love I had for her. But that was the stupidest mistake she’s ever made that I couldn’t authorize. He blurted, sounding so emotional, his eyes grazing me from head to toe.
I was in a haze now, not able to say anything, shocked from this bloodsucker’s blurting.
That was not a wise decision son. “Do you want to get yourself killed?” Aren’t you scared of leaving your human girlfriend behind, for others to take? He said, getting on my wick. It riles me the fuck up that I cannot do anything but just bare with his every stinging word that pricks me like thorny locust.
You and I have a lot to catch up with. He said getting up on his feet.
Leave my mate the hell alone you bastard. Catriona yelled as she whirled a huge tree branch onto Edward’s head. He staggered, bewildered. He’s my man, no one is allowed to touch or hurt him. She sputed, looking murderous…
How did she come here? How did she manage to carry that tree branch? It looks heavy. I was bewildered that I never knew she had this in her. But then fear crept down my spine to the thought of her getting hurt because of me again. The way Edward is staring at her made my toes curl. His brows furrowed, filled me with dread.
I was shouting at my wolf to fight this numbness and do something so that we can protect our mate.
Catriona cooled the vicious look on her face and strode over to me.
Jayden! Are you okay?
Not sure if I am. Not from what I’ve just heard about my mother. But I won’t spell it out to worry her more.
“Did he hurt you again?” She asked.
Time didn’t allow me to ask her what she meant because the moment she touched me I felt an electric energy passing through my body. Another second Jerome and Pamela emerging from the trees vigilantly. Jerome shifted instantly, lunging for Edward not because of who he is to me but because he’s a vampire and a threat to the pack. I expected to see Jerome sprawling backward as I did but that didn’t happen. Instead Edward just dodged his attack. Edward grabbed Jerome’s wolf and hurled him
onto the tree. Pamela rushed over to him.
Jayden, are you okay to sit yourself upright? You’re kinda heavy for me to help you sit alone. Catriona said pulling me out of my thoughts of queries.
Of course, baby, I can. I responded to her. Her whole focus on me looking worried and vigilant. In order to wash off the fret on her face I had to fight with my body and put it in a sitting position but was shocked when I felt my body system and my energy back. I sat upright without any difficulty and then stood on my feet, facing Edward who was stunned and so lost in confusion.
Are you dating a witch? He asked. It was my turn to get confused. I can see you got an amazing backup that managed to trace you down yet I tried so much to make this meeting for just two. But this conversation is not finished yet. I’m coming back for what I came for, and we’re gonna talk about your brother, my son, your cruel mother abandoned.
Stop blurting your false nonsense. That’s my mother we’re talking about here. The one you killed. I snarled.
I don’t regret what I did to your mother. She deserved it all. He said and used his vampiric super speed to disappear.
You’re alright over there man? Jerome asked in our mindlink. I need to cool myself down Jerome, in that case, I need to be alone for a while. Take Catriona back at the pack house. It’s not safe for her here.
If that’s what you want. He said, shifted and walked to the two ladies, motioning them to mount up onto his back by levelling his wolf to their level.
You guys go ahead. I’m coming with my mate. Catriona said as she spun around, getting ready to march to me.
Stop right there! Just do as I said, I want you back at the pack house. I gruffed. She didn’t listen to me and plodded to me.
She skimmed her tiny hands on my anatomy. I barely felt them.
What kind of mate would I be to leave my mate suffering alone? How can I leave you when you’re in pain? I’m here for you Jayden. Allow me to sustain you in whatever you’re facing. Mmmh. She said, her tone broken.
You don’t have to stay here alone in this forest. Let’s get back at the house together, in our room and talk it through. Whatever is bothering you, I am ready to listen, and help you through it. To help you overcome it. You’ve been there for me in my hardest time. So let me be there for you as well. She added.
Thank you for saying that catriona. It means so much to me that you care for me which I am grateful for. But still, I need a moment alone.
“But…!
She started….
I silenced her with a gentle kiss that melted my heart. I needed it. I broke it and stared into her eyes… I won’t take long, baby. I promise to come and talk about everything. “That includes the secret that has been weighing on me.” I didn’t spell the last sentence out loud but she softened up and backed off a little.
Alright then. Just know I won’t eat anything until you come back. She stated.
Didn’t Sandra give you anything to eat? I asked.
She did, and…
“And…?” I asked.
And that’s when I started having these emotional feelings that something isn’t right with you. They were so strong that I couldn’t eat anything. So I asked for Jerome’s guidance to trace you.
Okay baby, I understand. Jerome is waiting. Don’t make them wait.
Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?
“Catriona we talked about this.”
I know but I have a bad feeling that something bad will happen to you if I leave you here alone. And this feeling is not going away.
There’s nothing to worry about. I can take care of myself.
Please don’t push me away. She wailed. I breathed out from my nose, frustrated. I carried her and marched toward Jerome’s wolf and sat her on his back and told Pamela to mount on too.
When Jerome’s wolf sprinted back I breathed, relieved. I’m very aware of how strong the connection bond between a werewolf and their marked mate is but for Catriona’s, it is on a higher level. Now that she’s officially my woman, I’m prepared to tell her the truth of what I did to her. So no more secrets.
I turned around to shift and sprint through this forest until its end but stopped dead short, startled when I almost bumped into someone I didn’t get to see their face but only to see a glimpse of their fingers touching my head temples. My head began spinning until I blacked out.
