Chapter 49

Book:ALPHA'S HUMAN SURROGATE Published:2024-5-1

JEROME
There is no fucking way my Alpha will accept that. He would rather die fighting them than using his mate as a price tag of letting the pack members free even though we all mean alot to him.
“Who does that old man think he is?” I blame myself for falling in love with the wrong woman all this time. I know we had our differences between our packs but I’d always thought that one day one time we will overcome it. But now see what I brought to my pack. They might lose their lives because of my stupidity.
Jayden began laughing out loud that the whole wing went silent. I was shocked as well as others to see him laughing like that. I forgot the pain I was in and started laughing along with him, including our men. My laughs were mixed with pain, betrayal and embarrassment of what I did to the pack. If I’m to be punished, I deserve more than the pain I am having right now.
Jayden’s laughter was now freaking the shit out of us all including Joseline’s family.
What’s wrong with you? Are you kidding me right now? Joseline’s father asked.
Jayden marched toward the old man and slightly patted his shoulder.
Son, I really don’t want to hurt you. So let everyone go. And Catriona belongs to only this man. No one has the right to use her the way you plan to. Jayden said.
I’m confused here! “What is he babbling about? Why is he calling the old man who’s 35years older than him, son? Did he knock his head on a silver rock that burned his brains dry?
They all bursted into laughter.
Did you just call me son? Are you even hearing yourself, Jayden Evers, the Alpha of your pack? What if I refuse? What will you…
Jayden didn’t let him finish his sentence and clamped his face and forced him to look him in the eyes. As soon as the old man locked eyes into Jayden’s, he started blinking rapidly.
What am I doing here? The old man asked himself.
This is shocking news. What just happened. Why is he acting like nothing had happened? I asked myself. I saw Joseline and her family confused too. The old man darted around the room and after that he ordered his son to untie us all and the rest of our people with his eyes still on Jayden.
They untied all of us and stormed out.
I’m really surprised and disappointed in you Fredrick. You will have to give me a serious explanation of your actions. His wife said and sauntered out too leaving her stiff husband still glaring into Jayden’s eyes.
A while later when the old man and his people left our territory, back in the house Jayden darted around with a light smile and then fell down. I quickly ran to his side and shook him. Jayden! I whisper-yelled his name.
Let me have a look. Vannesa said, already on his side inspecting him.
It didn’t take long when he opened his eyes. “Alpha, are you okay? I asked.
Is everyone okay? It’s the first question he asked. Yes, they’re all good. I answered.
Great. Now I need to talk to both of you. He said.
The three of us went into my office and sat in opposite directions. I began apologizing for my actions but he cut me off….
Whatever happened earlier was not your fault or anyone else’s fault. So I don’t need your apologies, but as the beta of this pack you have to be super careful. He said evenly.
Anyway, that’s not the reason why I called you here. There’s something that I would like to talk to you about , especially you Vanessa and see if you can help me out. He said.
Should we be worried? Vannesa whispered. He didn’t reply. Vannesa and I waited attentively for whatever he’s going to say.
I lost my wolf… He blurted it.
I’ll be lying if i say that i’m surprised. The truth is that I am not. The moment he entered the wing there was something different about him. He felt like a different person. Like a stranger. Not sure if others felt it or not but I did.
But you’re the Alpha of this huge house full of people looking out and leaning on you. And that includes me, son. She exclaimed.
That’s the fucking reason i came to you for help vannesa. He Snapped at her.
Alright, I get it. But how will I help you when I don’t even know where and when you lost your wolf. You need to explain to me how and when you lost him.
Well, to make the story short, we were abducted by some weird people where they poisoned me and became half dead for six good days. When I came back to life I didn’t have him. So I made a deal with one of the heads of those, whatever they are, to help me bring my wolf back by offering them Catriona’s ovaries because I saw how powerful they’ll do when I was in the spirit world. But bad enough I didn’t get any help. He finished.
What were you thinking when you made such a deal? Vannesa yelled, startling us. Why would you do that to that sweet child? Did she agree to it? Vannesa asked and Jayden nodded like a high-school teenager that is being disciplined.
And she still knows nothing. He added.
What happened to my brave Alpha? Did he knock his head somewhere? The Jayden I know would never do something reckless like that. Regardless of what. I wanted to yell at him for doing such a thing but I also made my own unforgivable mistake. Even though he doesn’t have his wolf with him I know he’s strong enough to hurl me like I’m nothing.
Let me ask you one thing first, “did they abduct Catriona first? Vannesa asked.
Jayden responded by nodding his head.
Now I’ll tell you one thing just in case you didn’t know whicjam sure of you didn’t. Those people are witches. They are immortal witches. All of them. They tricked you Jayden, by taking your human girl because they saw something important in her that’d help them cure their queen.
“Hold on a second…” Do you know the people I’m talking about? He asked, his brows furrowed.
Knowing them is not important right now Jayden. We have to act soon before it’s too late. Get on your feet and follow me. NOW. She said, and Jayden was on his feet immediately. I was on the verge of guffawing at his sudden politeness toward Vannesa.
As they were about to exit my office Vanessa stopped in the doorway and looked back at me with a questioning look. Didn’t you hear what I just said? She asked.
Yes I did. Loud and clear. I replied. So? She asked. So you and him are getting out of my office to fix his mess. I replied nonchalantly. I need you too Jerome. I’ll need your help. She said with a gruff. Oh, I am sorry your highest. I didn’t know that I’m needed as well. I exclaimed. Now that you know, move your ass and follow us.
In her room, we sat across each other with Jayden in between us facing the coloured lightened up candles on the wall.
I’m going to send you back to the immortal world of witches and find your wolf. But before I send you back you must know that your wolf is being held somewhere by them. They did that knowingly that you’d probably go back for him. They’re watching over your wolf, waiting patiently for you to come.
Why do you think they’re doing that? I asked.
They want Catriona. And the only way to get to her is to cross from the immortal world to the human world, which is super dangerous to both human and supernatural world. And it will be through your wolf. So you have to be careful Jayden.
Vannesa had a black bracelet in her hands and tied it onto Jayden’s left wrist. She murmured something under her breath and the bracelet sparkled.
This bracelet will divert whoever is watching over your wolf. Note this: Whoever much how attempting it’ll be, don’t let your wolf in your body right away. If you do the bracelet will break and the door to the human world will be opened for them. Now, the lives of both human and supernatural world are in your hands Jayden.
