“My bad, you cuss a lot these days don’t you think?” Decanal’s light airy tone said jokingly. Diana could only huff in response. If she doesn’t need Decanal to put an end to her brother’s sorry ass, she would have just given up on looking for the disrespectful wolf.
” There is a trap waiting for you, Now turn to your left,” Decanal said in a weird high-pitched voice that sounded like Brittany’s. Each time, Diana thought her wolf was weird Decanal kept on surprising her by surpassing Diana’s expectations. How had they coped with being in one body before?
Wait Trap?
” Your little goody shoe friend is a shapeshifter” Decanal informed her as she turned left. It was when she continued walking that realized that she was heading towards her brother’s office.
” Little goody shoes? Shapeshifter? Can you be straightforward for once?” Diana grunted while faking a smile to greet a wolf pup that said hi to her.
” Calm down little one” Darryl’s soothing voice returned and she let out a breath. He was interested in what Decanal was saying especially the part of shape shifters but Diana’s temper was distracting.
” How can I when she keeps on going around in circles? She is not even making sense”
” 33456,” Decanal’s voice said ignoring her earlier comment.
” What the fuck is that again?!” Diana almost screamed out in frustration. Her hands curled into fists angrily.
” Temper little one!” Darryl hissed and Diana finally calmed and released her fingers.
” Your brother’s passcode you are welcome” Decanal replied sarcastically. Diana could imagine the wolf putting on a full grin while she played her stupid games with Diana. She quickly entered the passcode on the door and slipped in without being noticed. She had never even thought about her brother having a passcode because the door to his office was always open, and he was always there every damn time.
“How could I not notice it before? She was too good to be true. She knew what other pack members had no idea of and she was too nice and shared almost the same idea with you” Decanal’s voice returned.
” Who?”
” Brittany. Your only friend, apparently is a shape-shifting demon who has been working with your brother since the beginning. I only confirmed it when I overheard her reporting what you asked her to do when you were at the hospital, she revealed her true self” Decanal sighed taking her time to pick out every flaw in Brittany’s attitude and Diana could hold her gasp. She couldn’t believe her ears. ” What the hell did you just say?”
” Apparently, she was planted by your side to monitor you and report everything you do to the Alpha. When you asked her to steal the key to this room for you to free me, She told the Alpha about it and he gave her a fake key to give you. They now know that you know where I am and they are waiting for you in front of this door right now to prove their claim but screw them. They don’t know we converse like this” Decanal told her before Darryl’s voice returned.
” Did you say you saw her shift into a demon?” Darryl and Decanal confirmed with a sound hum.
” Check the bookshelf by your right, the third row, there is a big black book” Decanal instructed her and she obeyed her immediately. She turned to her right and found the bookshelf.
” I think your brother is up to something dangerous little one. Not quite long ago, I had a meeting with the elders of my race” Darryl said and Diana nodded her head as if he was in front of her while searching for the big black book that Decanal asked her to look for.
” And they reported sightings of shapeshifters around the Ruby forest.”
” I thought they were sealed into the underworld where they will no longer cause chaos?” Diana asked, her hands stopping on what she was looking for.
” Yes we sealed them away three hundred years ago but now they are back. And from what Decanal is saying, your friend is one of them. What I don’t understand is how and why the seal was tampered with.” He sighed.
” The only person I know that is capable of doing something like that is that bitch, Kiona. I mean she is always involved with Leonard” Decanal chipped in and Diana nodded in agreement. The wicked witch that separated her from Decanal.
” That would have been my first thought too if Kiona was not currently in my dungeon, rotting away,” He said and Diana paused dropping the book on the table.
” You captured her?” Diana and Decanal choruses at the same time.
” Of course, I know her weakness and most of her spells don’t work on me anyway. It was an easy job” He said proudly.
” Do I ever tell you how much I love you?” Diana almost screamed in excitement while Decanal only scoffed in response ” I guess there is a benefit to mating with a four centuries old Vampire, hope you didn’t kill her?”
” Did you just say I’m old?” Darryl asked coldly. Diana sighed she didn’t want another bickering contest between those two.
” Are you not? Your Royal Highness?” Decanal taunted.
” Alright, both of you. Stop this right now. It’s not as if you are not as old him Decanal, are you not over three hundred years old too?” Diana said with an edge to her tone.
” Defending your mate I see” Decanal hissed.
” Our mate. I’m not the one who always purr and gets out of control anytime he is near?” Diana said and Darryl’s laughter echoed in her mind. He laughed because he knew it was true, he had that effect on Decanal even when the wolf was still bloodthirsty and malevolent.
” And you, I just told you I love you and you ignored me,” Diana said silencing Darryl’s laughter.
” I’m sorry little one. You know I will turn the entire world upside down for you. I love you so much” He said and Diana blushed slightly.
” I wish you were right in front of me, I could have kissed you senseless” she muttered.
Decanal’s slight cough broke the romantic mood.
” Sorry to ruin the mood but Your brother just left this place with that bitch, hurry up,” Decanal said with an alarming tone. Diana picked up the book again. She opened the book and flipped through the pages. She even shook it before a single key fell out.
” Found it,” She said happily tucking the key into her sweatpants pocket. She closed the book and placed it where she found it making sure nothing was amiss inside the office.
” Hurry, he is near”
” Is it me or the Almighty Decanal panicking right now?” Darryl teased.
” I’m not panicking” Decanal growled immediately Diana slipped out of the room and closed the door behind her. She turned to the nearest balcony and waited a little bit because she thought it would be strange if her scent was all over the place and she was nowhere to be found. She could feel a slight headache growing from the bickering between her mate and the wolf inside her head.
” Can both of you just shut the fuck up?” She hissed holding her head.
” He started it”
” She started it” Both of them chorused at the same time. It amused Diana the way both of them were in sync.
” If you want to tear yourself apart, you are free to do so once we are done with the common enemy deal?” Diana proposed and both of them went silent.
” Diana?” Leonard called and she turned around to face him, he looked the same as the last she saw him at the hospital but she couldn’t help but notice little black veins on his neck, it wouldn’t have been visible to her if not for her new heightened senses. Brittany was not with him though.
” I was confused when I caught your scent around, but here you are. What are you doing here?” He asked and she gave him a fake smile.
” So I can’t visit my brother in his office? That’s sad” She pouted and he smiled at her. She wished he hadn’t.
” You can. It’s just strange”
