” fuck!”
Howard cussed out loudly immediately he shifted to his human form. He had watched the process in his head but his wolf was in control of everything. He didn’t expect her to fight his mark, the wound wasn’t healing as more blood gushed out of the wound. He quickly carried with bothering to wear his clothes back as he headed to the direction of the pack hospital.
The Alpha had given him an ultimatum a day before. He asked him to mark Diana within two days or he would have her mated to another willing person. He doesn’t want her to end up with another man, seeing her with another man might break him so he makes a selfish decision to mark her against her will even though he promised to wait till she is ready.
He had tried to do it himself but his conscience kept on judging her so had to involve his wolf instead. The wolf would only follow instincts since both of them have deep affection for Diana. The wolf would do it without batting an eyelid. But he had not expected that she would fight his mark like that. The rejection hurt him deeply but he had to bring her to safety first.
After marking her, his wolf had recognized her fully as his so the emotions were stronger than ever, seeing her unconscious and hurt had his wolf going crazy in his head as it threatened to come out fully. Getting to the pack hospital as fast as possible was the only thought he used to keep his wolf away. His entire body was restless and tensed as he watched more color drain from Diana’s face.
The familiar building of the pack hospital came into view after running for a long time with Diana’s weak body in his arms. He looked like a madman as he barked at the hospital staff repeatedly to save his dying mate. They all rushed towards him including Brittany but Howard refused to let any male doctors near her.
” You have to calm down Beta. They only want to help” Brittany said immediately they rushed the unconscious lady to the emergency ward but Howard had insisted on going with Diana so no male would lay their hands on her. Nobody could touch him as he threatened them to get their hands off her. His wolf was going crazy in his head and his actions were preventing anyone from giving Diana the urgent care she needed. Brittany had to mind link the Alpha so he would put Howard in order, she was only a nurse in the hospital and every other female doctor was not around.
” Get your filthy hands off my mate! You must!” He growled at another doctor who tried to move closer to Diana. His eyes flashed from the normal blue to the golden one of his wolf.
Suddenly, the door of the emergency room burst forward as Leonard stepped inside. He was filled with rage as he took in the state of his sister and the crazed look of Howard guarding her from every male in the room.
“Beta Howard, what have you done to my sister?” The Alpha’s voice rumbled with a mix of fury and concern, and he glared at Howard, demanding answers.
” Before that, step aside” The Alpha commanded moving closer to his Beta who still refused to allow even Leonard to move close to his sister. Leonard huffed out angrily immediately Howard growled a loud “No”. If it was an ordinary pack member, he would have punished them immediately for disobeying a direct Alpha command but Howard was his Beta and he was mated to his sister too Diana’s life was at stake there and if Howard were to continue with these shenanigans, she would die.
Moving closer to Howard with his palm fully fisted, he landed a heavy punch on his face which immediately destabilized the Beta, his eyes flashed angrily as his wolf took over fully. The other doctors quickly rushed Diana to the other room and locked the door immediately before it was too late for her.
Howard growled loudly, his wolf already recognized the Alpha as his enemy, Leonard rolled off his sleeves with a bored look on his face. He was angry but he had to deal with his stupid Beta first.
” Trust me sky, you don’t want to shift right now” Talking to Howard’s wolf directly, Leonard grabbed him by the shoulder and stared into the golden eyes of the wolf commanding him to back down immediately. The wolf responded with a growl before showing his neck in submission to his Alpha. The wolf gave a little whine before giving the control back to Howard.
” Alpha?” Howard blinked looking at his surroundings, the last thing he remembered was seeing Diana in a pool of blood after marking her with his wolf. The Alpha looked mad, raging even. Before he could blink, Leonard landed another punch on his face. He staggered a little bit but Leonard didn’t give him a Chance to react before grabbing his hands and leading him out of the pack hospital.
” How fucking dare you!” The Alpha growled at him immediately they were out of listening ears.
“You let Sky mark her? Are you insane? What is wrong with you? Do you want to kill her?” He added yelling at Howard who was already recovering from the punches.
” No don’t act as if this wasn’t your idea! You were the one who gave the fucking ultimatum or you would have her mated to another wolf”
” I asked you to mark her yourself in human form! Didn’t ask you to go all wolfy on her! Did you forget that she is still human and she can’t heal like us? She could die because she has no wolf” Leonard took a deep breath, his good eye flashing gold but he kept his wolf under control.
” Wonder whose fault was that” Howard muttered under his breath but he heard.
” What was that?”
” You asked me to mark her! And I did so why are you mad at me?” Howard replied gritting his teeth together to avoid growling at his Alpha.
” I asked you to mark her not kill her you bastard!”
” Kill her? That’s rich coming from the person who stabbed her with concentrated silver because he doesn’t want her to be mated to a vampire. At least I only marked her which would heal if she wasn’t fighting the mark so hard” Howard sneered with a bitter aftertaste after mentioning the word vampire. That lit a fuse in Leonard’s temper as his hands morphed into class instantly and slashed his Beta in the chest. Howard fell to the ground coughing and breathing hard as he watched his wounds heal. He watched his Alpha’s eyes widen as he advanced towards him angrily.
” No! I didn’t want to kill my sister. I love Diana, it was the vampire king’s fault, he made her believe she was his mate and I only wanted to prevent that and she was so going to kill me too, see” With a crazed look similar to the one on his face three years ago, he muttered as he pointed at his eye patch. Howard gasped as he watched his Alpha delude himself with lies.
” She was going to kill me! She made me blind can’t you see?” Leonard yelled touching his eye patch with his shaky fingers, memories of the faithful night invaded his brain as he struggled to put them aside. He took deep breaths to make himself normal to appear weak. Howard stood up at this moment sighing deeply. Raising one finger he pointed at his Alpha.
” You wanted to kill her mate! With a three-hundred-man army. I would kill you too if I was the one”
” Shut up! Shut your fucking mouth!” Leonard yelled at him, he tried to punch him again but Howard held his fisted Midway. Leonard took another look at him and laughed, the actions made Howard Confused.
” At least the vampire king wouldn’t hurt her.” He said through his laughter. Howard blinked at his insinuation, his wolf resurfacing at the thought of not deserving his mate.
” She is mine! She doesn’t belong to him” He growled.
” Then why is she rejecting your mark?” Leonard teased and that made Howard angrier, for the first time he punched his Alpha. His rage knew no bounds as his wolf continued growling “mine” in his head.
” It is all your fault! Everything is your fault” Howard cried, he knew deep down it was also his fault. If he had not supported Leonard’s scheme because of his own selfish decision made out of his one-sided love, everyone could have been happy and Diana would be in the arms of her mate not on that hospital bed fighting for her life. He could have also waited to find his mate but instead, he forced his mark on another woman.
