Diana’s eyes flew open when the sun hit her face. She wasn’t asleep because she was thinking about her wolf and trying to bring back her memories at the same time. Howard had left her on the bed over an hour ago to take care of pack duties. She felt oddly uncomfortable in his arms but like always she said nothing.
She stood up lazily from the bed, making her way to the bathroom to brush her teeth and take a bath. After washing her hair, she threw it into a bun allowing it to self dry. She made her way into the kitchen where she almost choked on her spit because Howard was cooking without a shirt on. She swallowed as she watched his perfectly sculpted back move following his arms muscles.
Sensing her presence with his wolf instincts, he turned around almost giving her a brutal heart attack. She averted her gaze and stared at the floor but another part of her just wanted to look up and stare at his chiseled abs and six packs, and the v below his tummy which disappeared into his shorts. His hair was messy as if he was just coming back from the shower.
” Princess? You are awake” He welcomed her with a smile, his voice extra deep which made the room hot all of a sudden. She managed to nod her head trying to avoid his heated gaze on her body. She was only dressed in a tank top and a pair of shorts with fluffy slippers because she thought she was the only one in the house. He cleared his throat as he tried to maintain control but her flushed body and her insanely long legs made his dick uncomfortably hard in his shorts. The lust in the air could choke the both of them at the same time.
” Have a seat, I made pancakes” He said, his voice husky from the list, pointing to a chair in front of the kitchen countertop. She managed to drag her feet and sat down as instructed wishing she had worn something more covering than what she wore.
He pushed a plate, stacked with many pancakes drizzled with syrup in front of her and handed her a fork, she nodded her thanks trying to avoid looking at his body. It felt wrong to stare at him in that manner but her body was screaming otherwise. Her body was clouded in so much that she couldn’t even chew her food without messing with the syrup, it ended up staining her full plum lips. She stuck out her tongue and licked the liquid substance off her lips while Howard groaned out in torture. He cursed under his breath trying to keep his wolf out of it but he was failing woefully.
” Fuck it” He muttered before storming to where she sat, he swept the plate away with his left hand and pulled her against him with the other one. He stared at her lips for a while, she panted hard while anticipating his next action. He grunted before covering her syrup-covered lips with his own kissing her so fervently as if his entire existence depended on that kiss.
She moaned when he bit her lips with his elongated canine, Sparks traveling throughout his body as his hands explored everywhere on her body feverishly. She couldn’t breathe as lust clouded her body but her mind screamed at her to get off, She tried to but her body had another mind of its own so she couldn’t push the hot domineering Beta who was kissing her brain from her body away from her.
” Don’t forget who you belong to Diana, you are all mine and mine alone ” The voice of the stranger in her dreams flashed through her mind and her lust-invaded body became cold instantly. She placed her hands on his chest and pushed him a little while panting hard. Every trace of lust disappeared from her body as she tried to stop him from kissing her again.
” Diana?” Howard called through his lust-filled voice, his expression that held ecstasy before changed to one tainted with hurt as he stared at her cold expression. His wolf howled loudly inside his head as he pushed him to the back of his mind. He became consumed in regret immediately as he pondered on what he had almost done, if she hadn’t pushed him away, he would have marked her. He was planning to win her over not overwhelm her like this.
” I’m sorry Diana, I lost control of my wolf I didn’t mean to…” he apologized but she cut him off with a nod.
” It’s okay, I’m just not ready for all this” She whispered and he nodded awkwardly in agreement. He stormed out of the kitchen as if he was being chased leaving her alone with her plate of cold pancakes. She let out a breath that she didn’t realize that she was holding as she thought about that voice and what he said. What does it mean and why did her body respond so quickly to it than get her mental willpower?
” Diana?” A high-pitched feminine voice called out from the living room. She dropped her almost empty plate and went to the living room where Brittany was waiting for her dressed in tight blue jeans, and a small white top, her golden curls were packed into a ponytail and she was holding a small polythene bag.
” Good morning” Diana beamed, at least Brittany was the only one she was comfortable with in the pack, not her brother or her so-called mate. The young woman just gave out a comforting aura every time.
” Morning? Damn, I never pegged Howard as the naughty type but I stand to be shocked. Diana dear, it’s afternoon already” The young woman rambled as Diana gasped in shock. Afternoon? That meant that Howard was done with his morning pack duties and only came back to the house to come and feed her. The thought almost made her sad for treating him so cold after the kiss but she doesn’t feel any guilty. He may be sweet and warm to her but he was still hiding things from her.
” I did not even notice” She muttered but Brittany only smiled at her warmly.
” Anyway, I came to keep you company since I figured out you might be bored sitting alone inside this house and I know how boring Howard is,” Brittany said while sitting on one of the sofas dropping the polythene bag on the floor. Diana took a seat beside her with a smile. She needed that extra company before she lost herself to the mental war in her head.
” Thank you Brittany I am this close to losing it”
” I could give you a tour if you want it” Brittany suggested with a glint in her eyes.
” Really?”
” Yes of course, if you don’t mind”
” Let me just wear something more comfortable. I think I might die of suffocation if I stay another hour in this house” Diana said hurrying back to the bedroom into her walk-in closet, where she took one of Howard’s hoodies and paired it with a pair of leggings. She hurried back to the living room where Brittany was still waiting for her.
Brittany started explaining the pack’s rules and duties to her on their way out. All pack members eat together at the Grand Hall even if they live in separate houses away from the general pack houses, there was a little bit of confusion at the breakfast because of Diana’s absence. Howard only made an excuse on her behalf and no one dared to comment because she was Alpha’s sister.
Diana only nodded as she digested the information while the other woman showed her various places in the community. She led her into the five adjourned building where various pack members resided. Most of them just went on their various duties while chipping in small greetings to her. Her favorite part of the community was the farm where some pups helped their parents with planting and harvesting and also the perfectly groomed garden in front of the second building.
” Please wait for me, I need to give this to my cousin,” Brittany said to Diana when they entered the second building pointing to the polythene bag. Diana nodded as she agreed to wait so they could continue their tour.
” Dee” A sing-song voice called in her mind the moment Brittany entered the room. She tried to ignore the voice but it called again, she looked around but found no one except the pack warriors at the entrance of the second building. They can’t be the owner of that feminine voice and it seems they were oblivious to this call.
” Don’t be a scared girl” The voice gentler now called again as Diana traced it to a dark passage that led to a storage room. She took a step forward and the voice chuckled in her head.
” Yes, come forward” The voice sang happily as her body moved on their own accord down the passage hall to the locked room where the voice became louder.
” I missed you a lot” The voice continues, there was a sense of familiarity in that tone that Diana felt she missed a lot.
“Who are you?” Diana whispered.
” I have all your memories. You know they are lying to you Right?” The voice said and Diana sighed tiredly. She knew but what she didn’t know was why the voice was calling out to her.
” Someone is coming! You have to get out of here now!” Alarmed, the voice yelled at her. ” But you didn’t answer my question” Defiantly she replied unable to turn back at the door.
” Come back tomorrow, I will still be here but go before that asshole can sense you here”
