Chapter 8
.
” I have been waiting for you little one,” He said the moment Diana appeared at the clearing again. He moved closer to her and held her in his arms. He appeared to be sniffing her but suddenly remembered he wouldn’t get anything from her since it was a dream.
” Wait are you a real person? Or you are just a figment of my imagination?” She asked slowly removing his arms from her body. He looked shocked and more hurt by her actions. He knew of her memory loss, that was why she kept using his dream-walking abilities on her but seeing her rejecting his touch felt like a torch against his bare skin.
He put his emotions and damned mate bond aside as he masked his expression. He took another step towards again as he cornered her against the tree. He bends a little bit as he whispered
” Let me be your imagination for now”
She shook her head angrily, tired of everyone keeping one or two things away from her. She hated both the dream world and the real world. No one tells her anything and it drives her nuts, How would she find Decanal if she doesn’t even have an idea what Decanal is? How would she even marry someone they claimed she loves when she doesn’t even remember a thing?
” I don’t want you to be. Who are you?” She said looking into his eyes for the first time that night but they were not red. But the most lovely shade of blue she has ever seen. A Sharp pain pierced through her heart at the sight of those eyes. She could see a storm in his eyes, her hand reached out to touch his face as she got lost in the storm brewing in his eyes.
” You don’t know how hard it is” He whispered, his nose almost touching hers but surprisingly she felt oddly relaxed at the proximity. She wondered if this was real life or was dreaming.
” What is hard?” She blurted out slowly caressing his face with her hands, the touch sent Sparks from her hands through her entire body. Electricity sparked in the air as the atmosphere between them grew tense.
” How hard it is, to stare at you knowing you don’t remember me or know I am to you little one. How hard it is, to see you when I can’t touch you or have you anymore” He whispered as his lips brushed against hers. Butterflies invaded her stomach as her heart raced. It felt so real that her breath left her body. She felt the urge to hold him, kiss him, and do all sorts of things with his touches but like he said it was only a dream. Who was he to her? And why does elicit such reactions from her when he isn’t real?
” It’s the fault of the Vampires right?” She suddenly blurts out and he stares at her in shock. Her statement threw him back for a second as he stared at her for a while.
” What do you mean?” He asked with a confused expression.
” You know, my brother and Howard told me he brought an army to invade the entire pack and they killed a lot of people including Honey’s mate.” She said but he just stared at her mouth like the most thing he has ever laid his eyes on.
” They have been feeding her lies,” He thought.
“Are you a werewolf too? Did they kill you and you became a spirit that haunts my dream” She rambled on but he only laughed at her statement. Her imagination was one of the things that he adored most about her, she already imagined he was some kind of dream spirit. He chuckled as he placed his finger on her lips to shut her up.
” No I’m not a figment of imagination nor am I a dream spirit. I will meet you in person when you remember my name” He said placing a soft kiss on her cheeks. Her vision suddenly became woozy as a spark traveled through her entire body. There is a big difference between the strange man and Howard. While Howard’s touches were sweet and sometimes comforting, they were bland compared to the man’s touches. He drove her brain to a frenzy anytime he touched her but she always forgot their interaction every time. But she suddenly remembered, ever since she woke up, she had been remembering even conversations that happened in the dreamland without forgetting once.
” But… ” She tried to say but he was gone already like a gust of wind. She opened her eyes and blinked twice to adjust to the darkness in the room. She missed him already, she was awake already and she suddenly felt thirsty. Going out of the room she found Howard sitting on the couch in the living room. He looked troubled and hurt.
” You scared me” She gasped in shock as she took in his appearance. She opened the fridge and poured herself a glass of water.
” You locked the door” He growled lowly scaring her a little bit but she ignored it. His eyes were switching from blue to hold meaning his wolf was fighting him again. She took a step backward from him but he stood up.
” Mates are supposed to sleep together inside one room yet you locked the door preventing me from entering the room?” He said half growl.
” I didn’t know,” she said without any sense of remorse in her tone. Yes, she locked the door because she wanted her alone time from anyone including him. Why get angry at her for wanting a sense of privacy? Mate or not, she doesn’t appreciate his tone.
” I will let it slide this once but I wouldn’t hesitate to break that damn door if you do that again,” He said his tone calmer than before. She nodded as she mourned her privacy for a few seconds.
” Why? Don’t I deserve some privacy?” She said folding her arms.
” Privacy? That word doesn’t exist when it comes to mates sweetheart” He chuckled pulling her towards the room. She sighed as she followed him with her tail between her legs literally.
” You may not feel it because of the absence of your wolf but it drives mine crazy when you are not here. Even though I promised not to try anything till you are ready for me, I would lose my cool if you were far away from me” He said and she frowned when he mentioned her wolf. Why can’t she feel her wolf? Does she have one? Where is her wolf? The thoughts invaded her mind as she lay beside Howard. She doesn’t want to ask him afraid he might not give her any answer but she wants answers. What happened to her wolf? She has not felt any presence in her mind ever since she woke up from the coma and that is more than odd.
