Chapter 757 Guilt

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

Ranita was feeling really bad. Seeing her unhappy, Holly became even more pleased: “How about it? If you take your son and leave, I’ll let your friend go!”
“Otherwise, things might get more exciting later!” Holly, who had a short memory, felt excited, thinking she had Ranita in her grip, her tail almost wagging in the air.
“You deal with it yourself!”
Just then, a cold voice abruptly appeared: “Holly!”
“Isn’t the teacher here? Why aren’t you going to class?” Brendon’s voice was like a devil to Holly, who widened her eyes and ran away.
“Is she bothering you?” Brendon asked.
Ranita pursed her lips, “It’s nothing.”
Brendon felt a bit frustrated. Ranita always seemed calm and gentle, but in reality, she was quite strong-willed and wouldn’t come to him if she felt wronged.
“Are you sure? If there’s anything, you can tell me. Maybe I can help.” Brendon pursed his lips, his eyes showing some expectation, hoping Ranita would rely on him a bit more.
“It’s nothing.” Ranita shook her head, even if there was something, she could handle it herself without bothering others.
Seeing she didn’t want to talk, Brendon changed the subject: “Where’s Ayaan?”
“He’s playing in the pool with grandpa. Do you want to go check on him?” Ranita was also a bit embarrassed, her back slightly sweating due to the urgency.
The man leaned closer, his faint scent of grapefruit making her feel a bit hot-headed.
Before long, the man’s low voice sounded in her ear: “I might have to go out for a while. Stay with Ayaan at Boulderland Mansion and don’t go out.”
He was probably going to visit Shannon. Ranita felt a bit uncomfortable, but what right did she have to stop him?
Shannon was his childhood sweetheart and lifesaver.
Just the thought of it made Ranita feel suffocated.
“Okay…” Ranita had just spoken when Brendon’s phone rang. He didn’t avoid her and answered the call.
“Shannon, what’s wrong?” The man’s voice was clear, devoid of any emotion, “Stop crying, I’ll be there soon.”
Brendon quickly hung up and left.
Ranita felt uncomfortable and swollen in her heart, only remembering after a while that she needed to talk to Mr. Goodman about Olivia’s matter, but she turned around and bumped into something with a loud thud.
“Ah!” Immediately, a hot liquid spilled on her arm, causing Ranita to reflexively step back two steps.
“Sorry, sorry! I didn’t mean to…” A familiar voice came, and Ranita frowned at Addyson.
“Miss Bowman, are you okay? You didn’t watch where you were going, it’s not my fault!” Addyson seemed to be explaining, but she shifted all the blame onto Ranita.
And her tone couldn’t hide her disdain.
The tea Addyson was holding was a bit hot, and Ranita’s hand turned red from the burn. Ranita didn’t say anything and hurriedly found a restroom to rinse with cold water.
As she was about to leave, she heard Addyson’s mocking voice from outside: “… You’re new here, you don’t know. That Ranita isn’t worth fearing. She was kicked out by the Stuart family back then, just a bitch.”
“I purposely spilled hot water on her, even burning her hand, and she didn’t even dare to fart!”
A strange female voice chimed in, “Wow, Addyson, you’re really something! But… I’m still a bit worried, didn’t she come back with a child? That child looks just like Brendon, what if…”
