Chapter 739 Escape

“Mommy, my neck hurts.”
Ayaan was so scared that tears welled up, and he nestled pitifully in Ranita’s arms.
Neck hurts?
Afraid that it wasn’t safe at the door, Ranita carried the child into the house and carefully closed the door before checking Ayaan carefully. There didn’t seem to be anything wrong with the little one, except for a red mark on his neck from being strangled.
Ranita felt heartbroken.
She helped Ayaan take a bath, applied some ointment to him, and then hugged him.
“Ayaan, I’m sorry! It’s all mommy’s fault!”
Because of her, Ayaan had been hurt several times, and she really wasn’t a qualified mother.
Ayaan shook his head, and his chubby hands patted Ranita’s back to comfort her. “Mommy, no, you’re a good mommy.”
Ranita was about to speak when Brendon hurried back.
Because of the running, he was breathing heavily, with a thin layer of sweat on his forehead. “Is Ayaan okay?”
“Ayaan is fine, just a red mark on his neck. What about you?” Ranita asked. “Did you catch that person?”
“No!” Brendon’s face was grim. “That sneaky rat.”
Brendon was indeed annoyed. He had been harassed before, and now they had even resorted to violence. Would it lead to murder if this continued?
“Ranita, this apartment is not safe anymore. Let’s move somewhere else.”
If it were before, Ranita would definitely not agree, but today she was a bit scared. The security in this neighborhood was relatively good, yet that person still managed to sneak in…
Ranita nodded. “Yes, we should move out. Your suggestion is good.”
“I’m…” Brendon hadn’t finished speaking when Ayaan happily clapped his hands and asked, “Mommy, can I go stay with daddy for a few days?”
Considering the plan for later, Ranita thought maybe it would be safer to entrust Ayaan to Brendon.
“Ayaan, do you want to go with daddy?” Ranita pursed her lips. “To that Boulderland Mansion you visited last time, do you want to go?”
Ayaan blinked and asked Brendon, “Daddy, will grandma and aunt bully me when I go there?”
“They won’t. Daddy will protect you.” Brendon pinched his son’s cheek and looked at Ranita eagerly.
His eyes were deep, and his anticipation was almost bursting out of his throat. But he didn’t dare to say too much.
“I’m not very convenient to go to Boulderland Mansion. We’ll stay at Eve’s place. My work here is almost done, and afterwards, I’ll take Ayaan back to Steland.”
Brendon pursed his lips. “Is it safe at Eve’s place?”
“It’s safe.” Ranita’s expression was indifferent, which stabbed at Brendon’s heart.
“It’s too late today, let’s take Ayaan back tomorrow.” Brendon nodded. “Then I’ll…”
Before he could finish his sentence, the doorbell rang again.
“I’ll go check.” Brendon volunteered, but he didn’t expect the visitor to be Makhi.
Brendon felt a sourness in his mouth as soon as he saw Makhi.
“Why are you here?”
“Brendon, you’re here too?” Makhi pursed his lips and smiled gently. “I came to see Ranita and Ayaan.”
Brendon frowned unhappily.
He lowered his voice. “Makhi, didn’t you tell me you had nothing to do with Ranita? I’ve never seen you care about a woman like this before.”
Makhi’s smile faded.
“Brendon, you’ve misunderstood. I…” Just as he was about to speak, Ayaan ran over, “Uncle Terry! You’re here!”
Ignoring his dad’s black face, Ayaan pulled Makhi into the house and asked familiarly, “Uncle Terry, did you bring me something delicious?”
