Francisco was left blushing with embarrassment. He never expected to be considered nothing by Ranita! This was a huge blow to Francisco’s self-esteem. He was clearly very talented, not bad-looking, it was just that he was unlucky not to be born into a wealthy family…
“Miss Bowman… I… actually…” Francisco was truly unwilling to accept this. He harbored indecent thoughts towards Ranita, but only dared to think about them secretly because the gap between him and Ranita was too great.
Ranita was the goddess he could never attain in his heart.
“Mr. Cole, there’s no need to say more. I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving first.” Ranita’s figure quickly disappeared down the hospital corridor.
Not far away, Holly, holding a bouquet of flowers, witnessed the scene. She ground her teeth in anger, taking a while to calm down before walking towards Francisco…
Ranita went to look for Eve and unexpectedly ran into Dylan at the door. Dylan, seeing her, averted his gaze and stammered, “Ranita… you… you… why are you here?”
“I came to see Eve,” Ranita said with a smile, noticing Dylan’s dejected appearance. “Hurry up and go inside, we can chat about Eve together.”
“Eve’s matter? What’s there to discuss between Eve and me…” Dylan’s ears turned red as he spoke.
Ranita teased him, “Oh? What happened between you and Eve? Is there something I can’t know?”
“No, no, no!” Dylan quickly waved his hands.
Ranita didn’t continue the teasing, deciding not to meddle in their emotional issues. She would wait patiently for good news.
Ranita thought that if they could become a couple, it would be a very happy event. She was in a good mood.
“Alright, alright! I was talking about Eve’s online situation, what were you thinking about?” Ranita said as she and Dylan entered the room together. Eve rushed out to hug her but, seeing Dylan behind her, hesitated and asked, “Why are you here too?”
“You’ve caused such a big fuss and didn’t even contact me?” Dylan said indignantly. “Don’t you consider me a friend?”
Ranita saw Eve’s face turn red and quietly tugged at her hand, “Let’s go sit down and talk. Dylan, would you like something to drink?”
“Water is fine.”
Ranita went into the kitchen, followed by Eve, who expressed her gratitude, “Thank you, Ranita.”
“For what!” Ranita paused for a moment, then asked in a low voice, “Your ears are red, are you shy?”
“No… What are you talking about?” Eve cooed, “I’m just a bit embarrassed!”
“Like him? Then go for it!” Ranita patted her shoulder encouragingly, “Dylan is so silly, he must be easy to pursue.”
Eve did not get angry, instead, she nodded in agreement, “Indeed, he is a bit silly!”
“How about you and Brendon? Weren’t you planning to call off the engagement? Why hasn’t there been any news from Shannon’s side?”
Eve paused and said, “I inquired a couple of days ago, and Shannon is still claiming to be Brendon’s fiancee.”
“Could it be that Brendon is stringing you along, playing the field?”
Ranita pressed her lips together, her voice dimmed, “I’m not sure.”
These past two days, Brendon had not been in contact with her, and she had not taken the initiative to call Brendon either. It was as if they were in a standoff, each waiting to see who would crack first.
“Not sure? That son of a bitch Brendon! What a jerk!” Eve slammed the glass down on the marble countertop, “So, what do you thing?”
Ranita’s lips turned down, filled with bitterness.
