“Ah! Right!” Ranita suddenly remembered something.
Back then, she was so diligent in going to the library, hoping to intercept Makhi and inquire about Brendon. But before she could gather the courage to ask, Makhi had already gone abroad.
“Thinking back, those were good times,” Ranita sighed. “I remember you went abroad right after finishing your third year, didn’t you?”
“Mm…” Makhi nodded, feeling a surge of excitement. It turned out she still knew about his whereabouts…
“There was something at home, and I had planned to go after graduating from university,” Makhi wanted to say more, but Ranita’s phone rang.
The number wasn’t saved in her contacts.
“Hello, who is this?” Ranita answered, but there was no response for a while until a male voice sounded, “You despicable woman, seducing someone else’s boyfriend, go die!”
The sudden verbal abuse left Ranita stunned for a moment.
“Who are you?” Ranita furrowed her brows, suppressing her anger. “Did you dial the wrong number? Who are you looking for?!”
“No, I didn’t dial the wrong number! I’m cursing at you! I’ve seen you before, is that your face? Must have spent a lot of money on plastic surgery, right? Your figure is not bad, slim waist and long legs. Since you enjoy seducing men so much, how about playing with me?”
“I’m quite capable, I guarantee I’ll make you feel ecstatic.”
His disgusting words became more explicit with each sentence.
“You’re sick!” Anger flared up in Ranita’s heart, and she hung up the phone directly.
After ending the call, Ranita realized she had spoken too loudly just now. “Sorry!”
“What happened? Did something…” Makhi was about to ask when Ranita’s phone rang again, the same number as before.
Ranita immediately hung up.
But this person was like a persistent fly, continuously calling. After getting off the elevator, Ranita took her phone and went to a secluded place to answer the call.
“I told you, you’ve got the wrong person!” Ranita’s voice turned cold. “Stop calling me!”
“I didn’t get the wrong person. You’ll pay for what you’ve done!”
“You’re insane! Who the hell are you?!” Ranita repeatedly asked, but the person on the other end remained silent, only continuing to hurl insults at her, using extremely repulsive vulgar language.
Ranita knew that she wouldn’t be able to get any answers, so she hung up and blocked the number.
“Are you okay?” Makhi asked, worried. “Do you need any help?”
“No, thank you, Mr. Terry.” Ranita wasn’t a saint, and being subjected to such verbal abuse left her unsettled for a long time.
Fortunately, the matters she needed to discuss today had already been preliminarily arranged, and Ranita managed to handle them, albeit feeling exhausted.
After the meeting ended, nearing noon, Makhi invited her for lunch.
As they were chatting, Ranita’s phone rang again, still an unknown number.
Furthermore, during her meal, she continuously received harassing calls from unknown numbers. Ranita hung up and blocked all of them.
But this made Ranita increasingly annoyed. Similarly, because her line was constantly occupied, she might miss other important calls.
Hospital.
Shannon looked at Lena with a look of grievance. “Mom, how is it going on your end? Any news?”
“I’ve talked to Ranita, and this woman is quite difficult to deal with!” Lena furrowed her brows. “But don’t worry too much, there will be a way.”
Just as Lena finished speaking, someone knocked on the door and walked in, holding a thick file envelope in their hands.
“Mom, what’s this? Let me see,” Shannon curiously approached and saw the detailed information about Ranita.
