“Cough, cough!” Ranita was startled and reached out to rub his head. “Ayaan, no, you shouldn’t say such things.”
“I didn’t say anything wrong!” Ayaan grabbed her hand and pointed to the head peeking out from the bathroom door. “Isn’t that Daddy?”
Ayaan liked Steve and thought Steve was the best uncle in the world. He wanted Steve to be his dad. But Brendon was his biological father, and he liked him too. If Mommy liked him, then Ayaan naturally liked him too.
“Mommy, are you going on a date with Daddy?” Ayaan giggled and ran over to hug Brendon’s leg, looking up at him. “Daddy, is it true?”
Ranita blushed when she heard this. She gave Brendon a signal with her eyes, but unexpectedly, Brendon didn’t catch it. Instead, he squatted down and picked up their son, saying, “Ayaan, you’re really smart. Mommy and Daddy are indeed going on a date.”
“Ayaan, do you miss Daddy?”
In fact, Brendon wasn’t very good at taking care of children, especially with his cold demeanor. Kids didn’t like to be close to him. The fact that he could say such gentle words was already his limit.
“Daddy, I want to go outside and play with the remote control airplane. Can you take me?” Ayaan made a request to Brendon without hesitation.
“Sure! When do you want to go?” Brendon replied, then looked at Ranita. “Are you busy tomorrow? If not, we can take Ayaan out to play.”
Ranita shook her head. “No, tomorrow I have to go to Gauss Technology. Ayaan, can you wait until Mommy is less busy to go and play? Besides, we’re not in Steland, and there are no remote control airplanes here.”
Ayaan pouted and obediently nodded. “Okay.”
“Can Daddy accompany me tonight then?”
This request was a bit too much.
Ranita didn’t want Brendon to stay. It would be too dangerous!
“Daddy…” Ayaan looked at Brendon with adorable eyes, really hoping Brendon would agree.
Ranita quickly said, “Ayaan, Daddy is busy. He should go back. Right, Brendon?”
Brendon smiled at her, squatted down, and hugged Ayaan. He whispered softly, “Ayaan, Daddy is not busy tonight, and I’m happy to stay and accompany you!”
Ayaan was extremely happy and spun around like a happy little bee.
Ranita felt a bit frustrated.
“What’s wrong? Are you unhappy?” Brendon approached her as she washed the cup, his arm around her waist, and blowing air into her ear. “Are you resisting me staying?”
“Don’t touch me, Ayaan will see us later.”
Brendon stepped to the side, blocking her completely with his tall figure. He gently lowered his head and kissed her.
“Don’t worry, he can’t see us.”
Ranita’s heart fluttered from the kiss. Her eyes curved into a bridge, but she still pushed him halfheartedly. “Stop fooling around!”
“Ayaan is seriously reading his book. He doesn’t have time to pay attention to us.” Brendon held her waist tightly, pulling her into his embrace and kissing her a few more times.
Ranita’s face turned red.
“He’s still a child. Don’t teach him bad things.” Ranita stared at him with wide eyes. “Ayaan is young, but he actually understands.”
Brendon continued to smile. “You’ve taught him well. It’s been hard for you all these years!”
Ranita thought about it. It was indeed tough for her to raise a child alone for the past four years, from pregnancy to childbirth and raising the child. But Ayaan was so cute and well-behaved that it made everything seem worthwhile. After giving birth to Ayaan, she had countless moments of gratitude for her decision.
“And the hero firefighter dad has also been very encouraging to him!” Ranita forced a smile at the end. “Hehe!”
