Ranita was a little confused by the situation. “Holly, what do you mean by that?!”
“It means nothing!” Holly snorted coldly at Ranita and raised her chin. As she walked away, she deliberately bumped into Ranita’s shoulder.
Ranita didn’t understand why, but she had a bad feeling in her heart. She was about to take out her phone to call Alexia when someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Before Ranita could react, she was dragged into a car.
Unable to steady herself, Ranita ended up sitting on Brendon’s lap, tightly held in his embrace.
Their posture was intimate, and their breaths were close.
Ranita’s scalp tingled.
“Let go of me,” Ranita tried to calm herself. “I have something urgent to attend to. We can talk later.”
Ranita struggled, but Brendon stared at her intently. His eyes were dark and mysterious, like a predatory beast that lurked in the darkness of the night.
His hand gripped her neck from behind, the warmth seeping into her skin. Ranita couldn’t help but tremble.
“Brendon, you… let go…”
“Ranita, you’ve been avoiding me all night. Are you angry again?” Brendon had wanted to talk to her several times, but every time he was met with a glare, she turned and walked away.
Brendon was extremely frustrated.
“I’m not angry!” She just didn’t want to be around Shannon, as it would make her feel insignificant and guilty.
“Then why are you avoiding me?” Brendon reached out and grasped her waist, his gaze growing even darker.
His low voice was filled with discontent.
“You not only avoid me but also talk and laugh with other men!”
Ranita bit her lip, feeling angry and jealous. “They are my friends. Can’t I talk and joke with my friends?”
“Mr. Stuart, you’re being too broad-minded!”
Ranita seized his fingers and sneered, “Indeed, I can’t compare to your legitimate relationship with Shannon!”
Brendon didn’t know why, but he felt a little happy.
Ranita’s anger and jealousy meant that she cared about him, that he held a place in her heart.
“I’m sorry! Can you stop being angry?” Brendon sighed deeply and spoke softly.
“Is that what I want to hear from you?” Ranita gritted her teeth. She was about to push Brendon away when her phone rang.
It was a call from Alexia, and Ranita glared at Brendon. “You’re not allowed to speak!”
“Hello! Mom, I was just about to call you…” Ranita didn’t even finish her sentence when she heard Alexia crying, “Ranita, something’s wrong. Ayaan… Ayaan is missing!”
Ranita’s mind was in chaos, unable to think straight.
“Mom, what are you saying?”
“Ranita, today the maid picked up Ayaan from the kindergarten and took him to a nearby amusement park. But she lost track of him, and it took her hours to dare come back and tell me…” Alexia was now sobbing uncontrollably, “I’ve already called the police. Can you come back?”
Of course, she had to go back now.
“Mom, don’t panic! Take care of Dad and don’t tell him yet, okay? Give me the police’s number, I’ll contact them!”
Ranita rubbed her forehead, clutching her phone, unsure of what to do.
“Ranita! Ranita!” It wasn’t until Brendon’s voice reached her that Ranita regained her composure. She grabbed Brendon’s hand. “Brendon, Ayaan is missing.”
“Don’t panic! Calm down and tell me…”
Ranita didn’t know how to explain. “Take me back to the hotel now. I need to return to Steland immediately.”
“And also, make a phone call…” Ranita frantically picked up her phone but found that her fingers were trembling uncontrollably.
