Chapter 610 Regret

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

“Mr. Stuart, Robert assured ‘Miss Murphy’ that everything would be taken care of without any hitches!”
“Mr. Stuart, please help me! I don’t want to leave Kurima! I really regret what I did, it ruined my career. If not for that, I would still have a good job, and my girlfriend wouldn’t have left me.”
Josiah wasn’t a very strong-willed person. Once he started talking, his emotions began to crumble.
Recently, he had been harassed by people Robert sent, driving him to the brink of collapse. Josiah even thought about selling his house and leaving Kurima.
Now that there was a way out, he naturally wanted to cling to it.
“Mr. Stuart, please, can you help me? I really regret it, I beg for your forgiveness, Mr. Stuart, I didn’t mean to…”
“Oh right, right…” Josiah suddenly got up, stumbled into the room, and rummaged through boxes and cabinets, pulling out an envelope. The corners of the envelope had turned yellow. He handed it to Brendon in a hurry.
“Mr. Stuart, this is the appraisal report I made for Mrs. Stuart back then… I had it ready to give to Mrs. Stuart, but…”
Brendon took it but didn’t open it. There was no need to open it; he was convinced that Ayaan was his child.
After four years, this swapped appraisal report saw the light of day again.
But what use did it have now? The mistakes he had made, the hurtful words he had said to Ranita, all of it haunted Brendon! He even insulted Ayaan…
Just the thought of it made Brendon’s heart ache.
“Caleb, handle the rest.” Brendon turned and left. He sat in the car for a while, not heading back to Boulderland Mansion but straight to Shannon’s apartment.
“Brendon, why are you here…” Shannon’s eyes lit up when she saw him. “Come in quickly!”
Brendon stood at the door, not entering.
Shannon had bought this place in an upscale residential area, with one apartment per floor, ensuring privacy.
“Let’s talk here!”
Seeing Brendon’s cold gaze, Shannon felt a little uneasy. Her watery eyes looked at Brendon pitifully, her voice coquettish, “Brendon, what’s wrong? Who made you angry…? Please don’t look at me like that? I’m a bit scared…”
Apart from the guilt he felt towards Ranita, Brendon also felt anger towards Shannon. He couldn’t imagine that the little sister he had grown up with would do such a thing behind his back…
“Shannon, I have one question for you.” Brendon’s voice was cold, clearly disappointed in Shannon. “Four years ago… my mother had Ranita do a paternity test, and at the time, the report said that the child in Ranita’s belly wasn’t mine.”
“But Ayaan is my child, so that report was fake, wasn’t it?”
Shannon felt flustered by the question.
Was Brendon finally holding her accountable?
Pretending to be surprised, “How could it be fake?” Shannon’s eyes immediately turned red. She looked at Brendon pitifully and said, “Brendon… you’re not suspecting me, are you? I haven’t done anything like this, Brendon… Do you believe me?”
“You know I won’t lie to you.”
Her tears fell, making Shannon look particularly fragile and pitiful. But Brendon already had doubts in his heart, so he wouldn’t easily trust Shannon. He pursed his lips and said, “The doctor who falsified the report back then confessed to me personally.”
Shannon’s heart was in even greater turmoil.
Didn’t Robert already take care of that doctor back then? How did he resurface? And how did Brendon find out about it?
