Ranita sent the message but didn’t receive a reply for a long time. At first, she was angry, but it gradually turned into a feeling of sadness and finally resignation.
Ranita composed herself and started focusing on her work.
Brendon called and sent messages, but she didn’t respond. After two busy days, Ranita flew to Kurima.
The weather in Kurima was drier than in Steland, and as soon as Ranita got off the plane, she felt her nose itching.
“Ranita!” A tall figure stood out in the crowd, and Ranita waved to Chris, quickening her steps to reach him. “Why did you come in person? Aren’t you busy?”
“It’s alright!” Chris helped her with her luggage and opened his arms to give her a hug. “Long time no see.”
Ranita sighed, “Yes, it has been a long time.”
The last time Chris visited her and Ayaan during a business trip was a year ago.
“Nothing has changed!” Chris remained the same, wearing a suit and looking refined.
“Ranita, you’re becoming more beautiful! I’m really sorry Ayaan couldn’t come this time.” Chris paused and added, “My grandfather heard about Ayaan and really wants to meet him.”
Chris’ family treated her well, especially Kora, who kept in touch with her and regularly sent her and Ayaan many things.
“Really? When I’m not so busy, I’ll definitely bring him to visit your grandfather.”
“He will be delighted for sure!” Chris smiled and continued, “I’ve booked a restaurant to welcome you! By the way, Kora is already waiting for you. She’s thrilled that you’re coming to Kurima!”
Ranita walked beside Chris, her delicate face beaming with a bright smile.
Olivia, observing the pair, covered her face and smiled with deep meaning. In her eyes, both Steve and Chris were a perfect match for her boss!
Not far away, Shannon wearing a hat and a mask, clung to Brendon’s arm affectionately. “Brendon, some fans might be taking pictures. Don’t look so serious…”
Brendon frowned and gently pushed Shannon’s hand away. “I need to retrieve my luggage.”
“Brendon…” Suddenly, Shannon widened her eyes and said, “Isn’t that Ranita over there?”
Ranita?
Brendon followed Shannon’s gaze and happened to see Ranita hugging Chris, her head tilted back in laughter, her bright eyes and radiant smile catching everyone’s attention.
A wave of sourness overwhelmed Brendon’s heart.
“Brendon, why did Ranita come to Kurima too? Is that Chris? Should we go say hello?” Shannon asked.
Brendon kept his gaze fixed on Ranita, watching her until she disappeared into the crowd, then he said calmly, “Let’s go.”
“Brendon, are you upset?” Shannon bit her lip, speaking with a hint of grievance. “Brendon… can you stop looking at Ranita like that? It hurts me.”
Seeing Shannon about to cry, Brendon pursed his lips. “Don’t overthink things. Let’s go.”
“Yeah! Your mom has booked a restaurant for us to have dinner. She’s already there. Let’s go quickly!”
Ranita had a pleasant conversation with Chris along the way, and time flew by. It felt like they arrived at the restaurant in no time.
As soon as Ranita got out of the car, she heard an exclamation from behind, “Ranita, what a coincidence!”
When she turned around, Ranita saw Brendon standing tall like a crane, with Shannon leaning affectionately against him.
Ranita’s heart clenched with pain for a moment.
