“Chole! Ranita is your sister… our family. We had so many alternative options, even if it wasn’t Shannon. Why did you insist on inviting Shannon to hurt Ranita’s feelings?!” Jedidiah was infuriated, feeling a heavy heart.
Both of them were his family, and he couldn’t take sides.
“Brother, Ranita was there at the time. If she was uncomfortable, she could have talked to me about it. Since she didn’t say anything, it means she didn’t care,” Chole casually remarked, her lips curling with a hint of mockery. “Brother, don’t worry about it.”
“Chole!” Jedidiah wanted to say something more, but Chole was already impatient. She said, “Brother, don’t talk to me about this anymore. The contract has already been signed, and if we breach it, we’ll have to compensate!”
“What would Dad think if he knew about this?”
Jedidiah felt helpless.
“Chole… are you still holding onto past grievances?” Jedidiah looked at Chole and couldn’t hold back any longer. “Chole, Ranita has never harmed you!”
“Why do you always side with her, Jedidiah… she never harmed me? I’m already sixteen years old, I have memories…”
Ranita approached the door and pushed it open slightly, hearing Chole’s annoyed low roar from inside.
It seemed they were arguing about past events.
Ranita pursed her lips, hesitating whether to go in or not, but Chole noticed her. She stared at Ranita and said, “Ranita, since you’re here, come in. It’s pointless to eavesdrop outside.”
Ranita closed the door and greeted them lightly, “Jedidiah.”
“Chole, I need to talk to Ranita about something. You should leave first!” But Chole disagreed. She smiled sarcastically, saying, “Since we’ve come this far, let’s talk openly today.”
“Chole… we need to discuss business matters. Please leave! If there’s something, we can talk about it at home!”
The more Jedidiah sided with Ranita, the angrier Chole became. She gritted her teeth and glared at Ranita, saying, “My dear sister, are you afraid to face me?”
Why would Ranita be afraid?
But now they had more important things to discuss, and Ranita had promised Alexia and Benedict to bury the past and never bring it up in front of Chole.
“Sis, let’s talk about this at home! I have important business matters to discuss with brother…” Before Ranita could finish her sentence, Chole interrupted her angrily, “Ranita, every time we talk about this, you evade. If you’re not guilty, then what are you?”
“Sis…”
“Don’t call me ‘sis’! I don’t have a sister!” Chole looked angrily at Ranita, then turned to Jedidiah and said, “Brother, you’ll always be biased toward her!”
Chole left.
Jedidiah rubbed his temples, his expression turning sour. “Ranita, don’t blame your sister. She…”
“Jedidiah, let’s get back to the matter with Gauss Technology.”
“Right…” Jedidiah explained the situation to her and finally frowned, saying, “I might have to go to Ecrine in a few days. Can you handle the Gauss Technology situation by yourself?”
“No problem!” Ranita readily agreed. “I’ll take Olivia with me. Also, I’ll gather information on a few other technology companies. If Gauss Technology breaches the contract, we can quickly negotiate with other companies for cooperation.”
Jedidiah had full confidence in Ranita. The only thing that worried him was that Gauss Technology was located in Kurima.
