Hesitation! Dilemma!
These intertwined emotions conveyed to Ranita, and her heart turned completely cold.
Perhaps Shannon held too much weight in his heart…
“Forget it… You can go!” Ranita absentmindedly thought, why should she force him? It was her own misery.
Ranita was a big fool.
She kept losing time after time, yet she still held on to hope.
“Ranita, I’ll have the hotel staff go with me to check on her. In case something happens…”
“No need to explain so much to me. Just go!” Ranita’s mind was in chaos. She didn’t want to say anything more. In the end, she knew the outcome. No matter how much she knew or how helpless the situation was, it was all just an excuse to comfort people.
“Wait for me here. I’ll come back and talk to you properly. I’ll be back soon.”
How familiar those words were!
She had heard them many, many times before.
But had Brendon ever followed through?
Ranita pursed her lips and didn’t answer, avoiding eye contact with him.
She was truly torn.
“Knock knock!” Just then, there was a knocking sound at the door. “Mr. Stuart, I’m from the hotel staff.”
Brendon opened the door, revealing a uniformed female manager standing outside.
“I’ll be right back!”
The man closed the door, shutting out all sounds.
Ranita let out a long sigh, her hands weakly supporting herself as she sat down on a chair, feeling a bit dizzy.
Just then, her phone rang.
It was Ayaan calling, his soft and gentle voice sounding affectionate, “Mommy, where are you? When are you coming back?”
“Mommy will be back soon!” Ranita’s empty heart felt a little comforted, and her mood improved slightly. “Why aren’t you sleeping so late?”
“I miss Mommy!” After a pause, Ayaan asked, “Mommy, today Grandma asked me if I wanted a new daddy.”
“What did you say?” Ranita pursed her lips, accidentally touching a broken skin, causing a sharp and piercing pain that made her mind sober up.
“I said I want it! But Uncle Pearson isn’t here… what should I do?” Ayaan said with regret, even sighing, “I miss Uncle Pearson too!”
Speaking of Steve, he still hadn’t replied to the message she sent him last time. She didn’t know how he was doing!
Worry surged in Ranita’s heart.
“You hurry up…” Ranita had just spoken when the door suddenly opened with a dripping sound. A figure rushed in like the wind, carrying the fragrance of grapefruit and pulling her along in a daze.
“Brendon… what are you doing… ah?” Ranita was puzzled. “Weren’t you going to find Shannon? Why did you come back?”
Brendon stopped in his tracks, looking deeply into her eyes, his voice very low. “I’ve thought about it. I want to ask you for a favor.”
“Huh?” Ranita raised an eyebrow, puzzled. “Ask me for help? What can I do for you…”
Brendon looked at her seriously. “I’ve thought about it. It’s not appropriate for a man and a woman to be so intimate. I can’t go in, so I can only ask for your help!”
Ranita pointed at herself. “You want me to go in and help Shannon?”
“Brendon… do you know what you’re saying?”
“I know!” Brendon poked her palm. “She’s not wearing any clothes. Do you want me to see? I’m afraid you’ll get angry and jealous.”
Ranita held her breath, speechless.
“Ranita… can you stand on my side?!” His voice was low, filled with helplessness and determination.
Ranita’s heart ached, but she couldn’t refuse Brendon’s request.
