Chapter 532 The Misunderstanding Has Grown

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

“Brother, don’t misunderstand! I didn’t do anything with Brendon!” Ranita threw his clothes at Brendon and urged him to “hurry up and put them on.”
After learning about Jedidiah’s relationship with Ranita, Brendon wasn’t nervous at all. He lowered his voice and said, “We’re not doing anything wrong.”
Ranita glared at him and hit him in anger.
“Hehe!” Ayaan laughed as he pushed Jedidiah’s hand away. He asked innocently, “Uncle, I understand! The TV says that if mom and dad fight together, they don’t need to wear clothes!”
Jedidiah covered Ayaan’s mouth then looked at Brendon fiercely. “Brendon, I’ll come back to deal with you later!”
Ranita was also angry. She said to Brendon,”Hurry up and put your clothes on; I’m going to check on Ayaan.”
“You need to be more careful,” she scolded.
Brendon felt wronged, “You’ve known me for so many years; when have I ever been careless?”
When? Oh yeah! When he hooked up with Shannon before the divorce proceedings began! Ranita wanted to argue but thought better of it since she had never brought it up before.
“Ayaan…”
Ranita went back to see Ayaan and found Jedidiah watching cartoons with him. Ayaan seemed fine and happy, but Jedidiah was clearly distracted.
“Brother!” Ranita awkwardly fidgeted with her fingers. “I didn’t do anything with Brendon just now! I just helped him apply some ointment.”
Jedidiah’s face turned sour. “You have dinner with Ayaan. I’ll step out for a bit.”
“Brother… Are you going to see him?” Ranita hesitated, pursing her lips. “Brother, please don’t go.”
Seeing Ranita’s nervousness, Jedidiah gave her a meaningful look. “You’re so worried about Brendon? Don’t worry, I won’t make things difficult for him! After all, he saved Ayaan this time.”
Upon hearing this, Ranita finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Ranita stayed for a while, but her heart couldn’t settle down. So after closing the door, she quietly made her way to Brendon’s room. The door was ajar, and she overheard Jedidiah’s calm voice from inside. “… I don’t think we need to explain the relationship between me and Ranita, right?”
“I know, she’s your sister.” Brendon’s voice was also calm. “I misunderstood you both before.”
“If Ranita had told us back then that she wanted to marry you, we definitely wouldn’t have agreed!” Jedidiah’s voice continued. “She was young and naive at that time. After a few years of marriage with you, you divorced and she had a child. During the years she spent in Slovenia, I had contact with her and knew about Ayaan. She said the child’s father had already died, and I believed her.”
“I’m alive and well!” Brendon’s voice sounded a little aggrieved.
“Whether you’re alive or dead, I’m grateful for what you did this time! I’ll pay you a satisfactory reward, but I hope you won’t have any further contact with Ranita and Ayaan. I just want them, mother and son, to live quietly in Steland in the future.”
“You think my money isn’t enough?”
“As the son of the Stuart family, I certainly know that you have a lot of money! But… have you ever considered that you’re engaged to someone else? Do you want to be a two-timer?” Jedidiah’s voice turned extremely cold. “Don’t talk about responsibility now. You don’t even have the right to pursue my sister!”
Ranita couldn’t bear to listen anymore.
She felt lost and bewildered, yet incredibly clear-minded.
What was the difference between what she had done these past few days and what Shannon had done back then? Ranita truly despised this version of herself.
