Chapter 491 Not Over Yet

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

“Brendon, don’t come and bother me again!”
Ranita’s eyes were sore and her heart was in pain.
For the next few days, Ranita didn’t see Brendon. Even if they did cross paths, they just silently passed by each other.
Ranita still came to visit Benedict every day, talking to him or reading the newspaper to him. When it was time for her to go home and play with Ayaan, she would leave. For safety reasons, she no longer lived in a hotel but in a residential area provided by Jedidiah.
The days passed uneventfully, until a piece of news popped up.
“Shannon discharged from the hospital unharmed, returning to Kurima with her fiancé from outside the industry. According to insiders, their wedding date is approaching…”
“Ranita, the water is overflowing!” Jedidiah reminded her, and Ranita quickly realized it. She hurriedly turned off the water dispenser, but it was too late-the water had already spilled out.
Fortunately, it wasn’t scalding hot water.
“Are you okay?” Jedidiah noticed her distracted state. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing…” Ranita barely finished her sentence when Jedidiah glanced at her phone and sneered. “Why are you looking at this?”
“I didn’t hit you out of respect for you; I didn’t want to make a scene.”
Ranita closed the news. “It’s just something that popped up; I didn’t plan on reading it.”
Jedidiah was a bit frustrated. “You didn’t even notice the overflowing water?”
Ranita didn’t know how to explain, so she chose to remain silent. Jedidiah saw her like this, and although the words were at the tip of his tongue, he swallowed them back out of pity.
“With your current state, can you still attend the meeting this afternoon?”
Benedict was hospitalized, but there were matters in the company that needed attention. Jedidiah had to take on the responsibility, and even Chole, who always targeted Ranita, was too busy with company affairs to find fault.
“No problem!”
In the afternoon, Ranita changed into formal attire and went to Steland Monolith Technology with Jedidiah. Over the years, Jedidiah had devoted all his energy to managing the company, and it had been effective. He had risen from a junior supervisor to the position of general manager.
“Ranita, have you reviewed the documents? Are you confident?” Jedidiah asked with some concern.
With Benedict falling ill and Jedidiah being young and busy managing the company, the negotiations with Steland Monolith Technology had been dragging on, which made Jedidiah a bit anxious.
“No problem!” Pausing for a moment, Ranita reassured Jedidiah. “Your sister isn’t that incompetent!”
Without mentioning her years at Stuart’s Corp, just in these few years abroad, Ranita had worked on countless projects and negotiations. She was skilled at handling such matters!
The only thing that worried Ranita a bit was that although she had read a lot of materials, she wasn’t very familiar with most of the business of Steland Monolith Technology. She was afraid of not performing well and messing things up.
“Then let’s go!” Jedidiah looked at the time. Just as they reached the entrance, they ran into the angry Chole.
Furrowing her brows, Ranita heard Chole’s angry questioning. “Brother, did you ask me to stay at the hospital just to make room for her?”
“Chole! Watch your attitude.”
Suppressing her anger, Chole said, “Mr. Bowman, I personally handled the project with Steland Monolith. Why should Ranita be given the opportunity now? She’s not even an employee of the company. What qualifies her to represent us at the meeting?”
“I hired her. Are you satisfied with that answer?” Jedidiah looked around. “Chole, we’re about to have a meeting. Go to my office and calm down! If there’s something, we’ll discuss it later!” Jedidiah paused for a moment and ordered, “This is an order. Focus on your responsibilities.”
Chole glared fiercely at Ranita. “Ranita, you’re something else!”
“Just you wait, I’m not finished with you on this matter!”
