Chapter 458 Warmth

“Not surprising he’s his own son!” Brendon thought, feeling relieved at how well-behaved and understanding Ayaan was.
“Uncle Stuart is busy with work and might not be able to stay for dinner,” Ranita said, grinning at Brendon. “Isn’t that right, Mr. Stuart?”
During the years Ranita was married to him, she had been gentle and rarely spoke in a strange tone towards him like she did now. She used to be considerate of him but now it seemed like she was always on edge around him.
Brendon looked at the adorable little boy then back at Ranita before pretending not to understand her pressure, “I’m off these days so I have plenty of free time.”
He then squatted down and petted Ayaan’s head gently while asking in a soft voice, “Ayaan, would you welcome me into your home for dinner?”
“Of course!” Ayaan nodded eagerly before tugging on his mother’s pants playfully, “Mommy, can we please?”
After pausing for a moment, he added, “My toy train broke down so I’d love it if Uncle Stuart could help me fix it. Also my new encyclopedia arrived today and I want to share it with Uncle Stuart.”
Ranita felt helpless as she didn’t want Brendon inside her house but seeing how much Ayaan wanted this made her feel guilty.
“Alright,” Ranita raised an eyebrow towards Brendon before relenting, “Come on in.”
Brendon breathed out a sigh of relief as he reached out his hand towards her saying softly, “Your foot hurts? Let me help you inside.”
The man approached, but Ranita didn’t take any action in front of her son. Instead, she lowered her voice and warned him, “Don’t do anything unnecessary, and don’t say random things!”
Brendon knew it was already difficult enough for him to enter her house, so he followed her lead and said, “Alright!”
“Mommy, is your foot hurting?” After Ranita sat down, the little boy asked with concern, “Do you need me to call an ambulance for you?”
“No need, it’s just a sprain.”
The thoughtful boy poured a glass of water for Ranita and noticed that Brendon hadn’t had any, so he poured a glass for him too. “Uncle Stuart, you should drink some water too.”
Brendon felt that Ayaan was really well-behaved, completely different from when he was a child. When he was younger… he seemed quite similar. He used to be a chatterbox, but then a lot happened in his family, and his personality changed a lot.
“Thank you, Ayaan!” Brendon hugged Ayaan and asked discreetly, “Do you have any ointments or similar things at home?”
Ayaan didn’t know what ointments were, but he led him to find the medicine box.
Brendon found the ointment and crouched down, saying, “Take off your socks, I’ll massage it for you.”
“No need! It’ll be fine later!” Ranita refused his touch. Besides, her son was present, which would be so awkward!
“Mommy, you can’t be like this! If you’re not feeling well, you should obediently listen, otherwise your foot won’t get better!” The little boy crossed his arms like a little adult and then said to Brendon, “Uncle Stuart, Mommy is not feeling well, and I am her guardian now. I allow you to help Mommy apply the ointment.”
Ranita was speechless.
Thank you so much!
“You see, even Ayaan knows!” Brendon pressed her ankle, preventing her from moving. Ranita had no choice but to stay silent.
Her ankle was a little red, probably from the sprain.
Brendon frowned and said, “Let’s apply an ice pack first and then apply the ointment later.”
As soon as the little boy heard that, he immediately went to the refrigerator and took out an ice pack, obediently handing it to Brendon. He had become Brendon’s little helper.
After all the fuss, they finally sat at the dining table and started eating after nearly half an hour.
With Ayaan present, the atmosphere was still pleasant.
Ranita felt a bit dazed. A family of three, peacefully having dinner together. It was probably a scenario she had never imagined before…
