Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

Ranita was completely confused. Was she dreaming? How could Brendon say something like that to her?
“Brendon…” Ranita reached out and grabbed his shirt around his waist, curling up into a small ball and rubbing against him, feeling warmth like a little animal rolling towards him.
Brendon was momentarily stunned.
He looked at the face that was almost close enough to touch lips with, his heart starting to heat up.
Ranita was too close to him, her pink lips right in front of him. All he had to do was lower his head and kiss her. Ambiguity surged through him as silence gave birth to an infinite desire in his heart.
Four years had passed since he last held her properly.
Now soft Ranita was in his arms, warm and sweet breath rushing into his nostrils.
Brendon couldn’t help himself; he leaned down and stole a kiss from her.
The lingering kiss felt so real that Ranita’s mind couldn’t keep up with it all.
Brendon really is here beside me?
But she was having such an indecent dream! She really was a bad woman!
But she felt weak all over from being kissed, unable even to push away from Brendon if she wanted to try.
The long kiss ended, and Ranita’s consciousness gradually sank into sleep…

Ranita suddenly woke up with a startle.
She panicked as she sat up straight – how could she have slept so soundly?!
“Mommy, you’re awake!” The little one called out softly and sweetly, “Uncle is telling me stories!”
Ranita looked at Brendon blankly before seeing him walking towards her holding out a glass of water, “Go wash your face! Breakfast has been bought.”
“Thank you!” Although Ranita had slept for one night after being exhausted yesterday but now still feeling dizzy in the head.
As soon as she stood up though, she found herself losing balance on weak legs…
“Be careful!” Brendon reached out quickly trying not to let Ranita fall, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Ranita waved it off.
Just then, a knocking sound came from the door, and the hospital room door was pushed open, revealing the gentle face of a tall man.
“Ranita! Ayaan!” Jedidiah exclaimed anxiously.
Ranita immediately pushed Brendon aside and rushed over to embrace the man. “Brother!”
“Ranita, it’s okay now!” Jedidiah tightly held Ranita, feeling heartbroken. “If Dr. Pearson hadn’t told me, you wouldn’t have called me for such a big matter. You’re really foolish!”
After scolding her, Jedidiah was afraid that his own coldness would affect Ranita, so he patted her. “Alright, stop being spoiled with me. I’m cold, don’t get me sick later.”
Ranita made a soft sound in agreement, sounding both shallow and aggrieved.
“It’s okay now. Let me see Ayaan…” Jedidiah said, only then realizing that there was another living person standing in the hospital room. His memory was good. “Isn’t this Mr. Stuart? What are you doing here?”
Brendon’s face was already dark, and now it was even colder, like a block of ice that should be kept at a distance, almost capable of freezing someone to death.
Ranita stepped forward to mediate, “We happened to meet during a project discussion this time. Mr. Stuart played a significant role in resolving Ayaan’s situation this time.”
“Mr. Stuart, could you please step out for a moment!”
Brendon replied icily, “I don’t need you to tell me, I’m leaving too!”
Brendon was furious. His ex-wife wanted to drive him away as soon as she saw someone else! Whoever wanted to stay here could stay, he had no desire to witness them hugging and cuddling!
Brendon stormed out with a face that looked like someone owed him money. Perplexed, Jedidiah asked, “Has Mr. Stuart always had such a bad temper? If you have time, you should quit your job early. Otherwise, the pressure must be immense!”
While saying this, Jedidiah smiled and went to hug Ayaan. “Isn’t that right, Ayaan?”
Suddenly, Jedidiah looked at Ayaan’s little face, and the smile in his eyes turned cold.
