Chapter 37

**Annabelle**
I laid on the bed dumb struck. I had to repeat the question countless times in my head. Is there a chance for us to be together?
It’s really a dumb question to ask to be honest. Quite frankly, he’s married to the only person I’m allowed to call ex friend. They’re expecting a child together and I’m just his first time and ex. How could we possibly be together?
Even if somehow the universe finds a crazy way to make it happen, do I want to be with him?
Fallon is the root cause of all my problems indirectly or not. I don’t blame him because I meant it by saying he actually did me good. Not withstanding, are those good deeds enough to make me want to come back together?
My head had started to ache in a matter of minutes. I’m sure I have a concussion so thinking about this isn’t right.
There’s a lot to consider but for now it’s safe to say Fallon and I have no future together. We can’t be together. We’re just too messed up to come back.
“Fallon….”
I started reaching out to hold him.
“Go home to your wife.”
I said in the lowest tone possible. His face fell slightly but he managed to stand up and walk out. At the door, he turned back and glanced at me one last time.
“I’m sorry Anna.”
I sighed and gave him a small nod before he exited my room. I laid properly on the bed forcing all my thoughts down until I finally fell into a deep slumber.
*One Month later*
I watched how the officer placed the cuffs back on Stephanie. She wailed loudly but they finally got her into the van. I rubbed my skin happy that I finally put that part of my life behind me.
Stephanie is currently serving a life sentence on the counts of murder, destruction of public property, kidnapping coupled with other crimes she must have committed.
I got discharged a week after I was admitted and happily have my statement, I also testified so things went smoothly from there.
Ava never showed up but Fallon came a few times. I refused to see him but I keep having mixed feelings about it.
Just then, I sighted them walking towards me.
“Speaking of the devils.”
I muttered to myself. They actually looked pretty good together to be honest.
“Hi…”
Ava says clearly nervous. Fallon stood beside her not saying a word.
“Can we talk?”
She asks, I nod in response allowing her to lead the way.

We reached a secluded part of the court and she began.
“I’m sorry.”
My face fell in shock and my lips parted slightly. I so wasn’t expecting that as an opening statement.
“I’m sorry for judging you right from the start. I’m sorry for the way I treated you when you got back I’m so sorry.”
I sighed lowly still dumb founded. I gulped finally finding my voice.
“I’m sorry too. I should never have lied to you when you were there for me all this time. I’m so sorry.”
She embraced me tightly and my face softened. I looked back at Fallon who watched carefully.
“So we’re fine?”
She asked. I nodded and she embraced me once again even tighter.
“I should really get going. I’ll see you some other time.”
I cleared my throat awkwardly. This was worse than I thought.
“Alright then.”
I couldn’t help but look downwards at her baby bump. It had started becoming a little visible. I scoffed lightly feeling a little jealous. I just couldn’t help it. She had my life. The life I planned and wanted. Doesn’t matter. It’s just like in college with what Fallon did. I’ll just have to start up again and be better this time.
Ava walked ahead giving Fallon and I a little space before I reached my car.
“Annabelle…”
He called out holding my hand once again.
“Huh?”
“I’m not giving up on us.”
He says making my eyes grow wide.
“Fallon…”
“I’m not.”
He repeated in a more firm tone and strode away.
“Annabelle…”
Another tender voice called out. I turned back and it was Richard. He’s been such a good friend. We’ve been getting to know each other more better in these past few weeks.
“I’m so glad she’s been put behind bars. How are you feeling?”
He asked with a full grin.
“Amazing.”
I answered truthfully with a fake smile.
“Alright then. Celebratory dinner… tonight. bills on me…”
He smiled. I almost declined. Almost.
“Sounds like a plan.”
I blurted out and took one last glance at Fallon. Sincerely, it’s time for new beginnings. The past remains in the past. I’ll only look the future from here onwards.
