The heel wasn’t very high, but it was still around five or six centimeters. The pointed tip dug into the back of his foot, causing Brendon to raise an eyebrow in discomfort.
“Ranita!” the man exclaimed in annoyance as he placed his hand on her lower back.
It was hot and tingling, sending shivers down her spine. Ranita jumped forward and her cheeks turned red from the sudden heat that spread throughout her body.
“Mr. Stuart, don’t touch me!” she said coldly while glaring at him with disgust.
Brendon smirked lazily as he played with his fingers. “But didn’t you start it?” he replied nonchalantly.
“That’s because you deserved it,” Ranita retorted with a huff of irritation.
Brendon raised an eyebrow in amusement. “I only repeated what Judi said. How is that my fault?”
“You…” Ranita was so angry she felt like smoke would come out of her ears!
Judi watched them bickering without understanding a word they were saying. She politely asked, “Mr. Stuart, you seem to get along well with Cynthia.”
“Thank you! I do get along well with Cynthia,” Brendon replied.
Brendon glanced towards Ranita whose eyes met his directly for a moment before looking away again slightly embarrassed by their eye contact.
At the dinner party, Brendon continued his demeanor from the meeting, insisting on having Ranita translate even though he clearly understood. He kept talking, and Ranita’s throat was so uncomfortable that she couldn’t eat after drinking a lot of water.
As a result, Ranita didn’t eat much.
After it ended, Judi still held Ranita’s hand and asked her, “Cynthia, can you please take Mr. Stuart back to the hotel?”
“Judi! This is not part of my job description!” Ranita didn’t want to do that!
“Cynthia, Mr. Stuart really likes you. Just use a bit of your charm to conquer Mr. Stuart and get him to agree to sign the contract as soon as possible! Otherwise, you might have to come back again!”
It sounded like it made some sense.
Ranita regretted it a bit. She shouldn’t have agreed to Brown’s request for this difficult task! In fact, Ranita never thought she would encounter Brendon. She originally came for a project, planning to finish it in a week and return to Slovenia with her son.
However, it kept dragging on, and because of Brown’s inexplicable connection with Brendon, things got complicated.
“I’m just an interpreter; you guys can handle the project yourselves.” Ranita wanted to leave but was pulled back by Judi. “Cynthia, please, I’m begging you, just take Mr. Stuart.”
“I’ll add another twenty percent to the payment!”
Ranita remained unmoved, so Judi brought out the ultimate weapon, “If this project doesn’t go through, I might have to work overtime every day and won’t have time to date Brown.”
“I hope Brown won’t pester you every day.”
That annoying guy, Brown. Ranita gritted her teeth, “Alright, I’m only doing this for the money.”
“Cynthia, you’re the best!”
After the negotiation, Ranita returned to her seat. Unexpectedly, when she sat down, she accidentally knocked over a water glass! With a splash, the entire glass of ice water spilled on her skirt!
“Oh my god! Cynthia, are you okay?” Judi was startled. “Fortunately, it’s cold water; if it were hot, you might have been scalded!”
The cold, icy skirt stuck to her thighs. Ranita was about to use a tissue to wipe it, but a handkerchief was handed to her, “Use this!”
It was a dark-colored handkerchief, a bit worn, but it suddenly made Ranita’s heart flutter.
