Brendon listened, but his eyes were fixed on the little one being led out of the hotel. He immediately followed.
However, Brendon’s presence was too strong and he was soon noticed by Coco, who sent a message to Ranita in a panic, “Cynthia, I met a strange man while taking Elio out. He’s been following us and seems like he wants to harm Elio. What should I do?”
After struggling to type the message, Coco accidentally dropped her phone on the ground.
“Coco, are you okay?” The little one helped her pick up her phone and noticed Brendon. He waved at him immediately, “Uncle!”
The little one tugged at Coco’s pants, his eyes shining brightly. “Coco, I met an uncle on the plane!”
“Elio, that person looks fierce. Let’s hurry and leave!” Coco didn’t care and dragged the little one to hail a taxi.
Brendon also hailed a taxi and followed them.
As Shannon spoke tenderly in his ear, “Brendon, I’ve already talked to your mom. If you’re really busy, don’t rush back. Work is more important.”
“I’ll explain everything properly to my family when the time comes!”
Brendon didn’t have any real feelings for Shannon anymore. Four years ago, he agreed to the engagement out of helplessness and responsibility.
At that time, he couldn’t contact Ranita, while Shannon had been diagnosed with mild depression. It was because she still harbored deep feelings about the child they lost, and it weighed heavily on her mind.
Out of helplessness and guilt, Brendon agreed to the engagement with Shannon.
“Shannon, you finally got a vacation. Don’t worry about these things! Once I finish my work, I’ll rush back!”
Pausing for a moment, Brendon pursed his lips and asked, “Have you been going for counseling as advised?”
Since discovering Shannon’s depression, Brendon had arranged for her to have regular counseling sessions with a psychologist.
Over the years, Brendon had accommodated Shannon in everything.
“Yes! I’ve been going for counseling. The doctor says I’ve been cooperative, and I also feel better… Brendon, I feel guilty for making you worry. I’m really sorry.”
Shannon coquettishly softened her voice.
Brendon responded with a faint “Hmm,” saying, “You don’t have to feel guilty. It’s not your fault!”
“Brendon,” Shannon spoke softly, “after we get married, can we have two more children? It’s been so many years, I hope our unborn child can come back to us.”
Brendon remained silent.
He didn’t know how to respond. If he hadn’t met Ranita and didn’t know about Ayaan’s existence, he might have compromised. But now…
“Shannon, let’s talk about these things later! I’m busy at the moment, so I’ll hang up!” Brendon hurriedly ended the call and coincidentally saw the little one being led out of the car.
They arrived at the Fountain Square to play. Brendon walked around the fountain and found a spot to sit down, waiting for the little one to fall into his trap.
Sure enough, after a short while, the little one spotted him and blinked their big eyes, asking, “Uncle, do you know magic too? How did you know I was here?”
Brendon looked at the adorable little one and spoke in a low, husky voice, “Ayaan, can I hug you?”
The little one nodded and even climbed onto his lap voluntarily.
The little one was soft, but sturdy. Ranita had taken good care of him.
“Ayaan, have you ever seen your dad?” Brendon gently asked as he rubbed the little one’s head. The little one’s dark eyes looked at him and replied, “No! My mommy said my dad sacrificed himself…”
Hmm? Sacrificed himself?
How come Brendon didn’t know he was dead?
