Regret turned into anger, along with a thick hatred.
Julia trembled as she got up from the ground and walked away dejectedly.
Meanwhile, Ranita was busy accompanying Kora to a charity auction. As soon as they sat down, someone else took the empty seat next to them and started taking pictures.
Ranita wasn’t used to being in the limelight and tried to hide for a moment.
“Oh? Ranita! What a coincidence!” Shannon’s voice made Ranita immediately frown. Why did she always run into Shannon everywhere? Was Kurima too small of a city?
“Are you here for the charity auction too, Ranita?” Shannon asked sweetly. “You’re so kind-hearted! And Kora, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other. Do you remember me? I’m Shannon! My villa is right across from your house, did you know that?”
Of course Kora knew who Shannon was but her impression of her wasn’t great. After all, she preferred people like Ranita with her personality.
“Shannon! It’s been awhile,” Kora said before Amiya showed up unexpectedly.
Amiya gave Ranita a cold glance and snorted but didn’t say anything out loud although it was clear from her expression that she really didn’t like her at all.
Kora pushed on awkwardly at this point, “Why don’t you switch seats with me?”
“No thanks,” replied Ranita feeling bored but not really affected by any of this drama going on around them. “I’m fine!”
“Really?”
“Rest assured, we’ll be leaving soon!” Ranita said, and Shannon immediately leaned in, asking, “Kora, are you very close to Ranita? I saw her at your house last time!”
“Oh yes! Kora, you need to open your eyes wider. Don’t bring everyone home!” Amiya sneered. “No wonder you haven’t been calling me to play cards recently. Did Ranita badmouth me in front of you?”
“Amiya, I didn’t organize any gatherings!” Kora smiled. “Everyone is here to contribute to charity. If you have anything private to discuss, do it later.”
Kora mediated, but Shannon, acting innocent, spoke, “Yes, Kora is right!”
“Ranita, this charity auction is held every quarter. Everyone contributes money and effort. I haven’t seen you participate before. Why did you suddenly come?”
“By the way, you probably don’t know that to participate in this charity auction, you need to bring an item for auction, and the proceeds go to the charity fund to help those in need.”
“I prepared a pair of brooches, but I just checked the list and didn’t see anything from you, Ranita. Did you forget to bring an auction item? If you didn’t bring one, I happen to have a bracelet here. It’s the one Brendon bought for me for three million earlier… I can help you out.”
Showing off and being sarcastic.
“Hehe! A poor girl like her wouldn’t have anything good to offer!” Amiya teased. “Shannon, don’t bother with her. This bracelet was given to you by Brendon; you should keep it.”
Shannon immediately said with teary eyes, “But Ranita needs it. I’ll definitely help her.”
“Ranita, isn’t that right?”
Kora, on the side, felt quite helpless. She tried to speak several times but couldn’t get the words out.
Ranita stopped her, gently curling her lips, “Mrs. Stuart, Miss Murphy, have you forgotten that I inherited ten billion dollars? Do you think I would lack three million?”
“Miss Murphy, you better keep this bracelet for yourself. It’s only three million; I’m embarrassed to even bring it out!”
